      Many thanks, getting used to the new camera. Sunny days make it a challenge though. Sun nearly always in wrong position

    Very nice footage once again with the iconic buses. Very good as always.

      Kirkby always put a good show on with a wide variety of different types, and no routemaster for a change

    Thank you so much for this video. I live in the Cairngorms now but grew up riding Merseybus Nationals and Atlanteans then eventually driving them in service. I couldn't make it all the way down to Kirkby so it's fantastic to see (and hear!) all those wonderful machines. Superb stuff.

      Thanks Rob, if you ever get the chance to visit the open day I can well recommend it. The Kirkby guy's work hard to put a great show on

    A brilliant video brought back memories of when I drove buses for the MPTE, the best bus I drove was the Leyland National on the 68 route Aigburth to Seaforth always reliable, memories eh !!!!! .

      The 68 is a route I still use on occasion. I really enjoy a run on a national now. Though not so much when I was younger. Mum always insisted on sitting near the front. Being small back then meant I couldn't see out the window. I would have preferred the back, with good views and engine noise

    My uncle was a driver at green lane and living so close to.the depot I used to love seeing some of those types you have with you.its just a shame you couldn't do a day at Crewe like they used to do many years ago.loveed to reminisce seeing the old stock and used to travel many a journey on the potteries bus you had there.

      There was a good show at the crewe railway centre, now sadly finished. It was a perfect venue for me, with both trains & buses. It would be great if it was revived

      @@Merseywail I know I nearly married one ,bless her 😂😂it’s to some sad when I can tell a Fleetline from an Atlantean by its bustle,only exemption was the fishwick AN69s with the B20 style bustle

    • @Merseywail
      @Merseywail  ปีที่แล้ว

      Am just as sad as I can recognise them apart by the bustle too. Probably more sad is that the old Dinky Atlantean had a bustle that looked more like a fleetline one

    I was going to attend the event this year but I changed my mind and I can see why it doesn't look as busy as last year's because it would be to hot to travel on those buses. I'm sure there will be more classic bus events in the near future.

    • @Merseywail
      @Merseywail  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally I didn't think it was too hot on the buses. I've certainly been to events on hotter days. Last year's Hooton park day was roasting. It was a good day though, they put a good show on at Kirkby

    6:07 bus from my childhood
    These Volvos were the best
    Always warm in the winter
    High seats which gave privacy and a nice sounding turbo in the engine. Buses aren’t built like this anymore
    They look cheap and full of plastic and fibreglass with no heating at all

    • @Merseywail
      @Merseywail  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So very true, they certainly don't make them like that anymore sadly. They get you from a to b but not in the comfort of the old Volvo's
