    I’m totally introverted and just like you discussed, I stopped waiting around for my schedule to be compatible with my other friends. I booked a trip to Italy for a week and had a good time just seeing the historical monuments and eating all the local food. You learn a lot about yourself as you navigate your way through a foreign country. The opportunities are there if you want to socialize and meet people. And if you’re not up to it, don’t be so hard on yourself and count the things you did do right on the trip. I’m about to book a solo trip to vegas soon - I just want to see how crazy this beachclub scene is for a few hours, and then dip out… or stay if I’m having fun. Maybe throw in a fine dining place to eat and drink (but not too much so I stay out of trouble and make it back to my room nice and safe)

    I'm a natural born introvert, I have no problem doing things on my own, ESPECIALLY traveling. It's such a wonderful blessing. I can do what I want and not have to worry about someone else slowing me down. LV is an "all about me" town, and I'm the king exploring all those palaces, treating myself right. My only issue was putting Las Vegas so soon on my bucket list. Now that I have developed such a huge passion for the city, I find it hard to consider going elsewhere without feeling like I am cheating on the place. The Vegas bug has bitten me 😬

    Since my wife passed 12 years ago, I have learned the difference between loneliness and solitude. If you don't learn the difference, survival and living your best life every day is impossible. Traveling alone is essential in surviving loss and loneliness. I've traveled to Canada three times, San Diego, New York City and of course Vegas (numerous times).
    Hopefully, we can meet so I can pick your brain on Europe, primarily Italy. My next Vegas trip I'm planning is during Rodeo week, as an FYI. As stated earlier I will be their 4th of July weekend too.
    Your views on travel and your experiences are needed , as they give an experienced review of various locations and what to enjoy as well.

  • @TheLeeMather
    @TheLeeMather 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's very rare I bother commenting on TH-cam videos, but this was so spot on I really felt the need to. It was your Vegas content which drew me in, as someone who goes at least once a year. Thankfully the US boarders open next month, so my run will remain unbroken.
    I've spent a significant amount of time on my own when travelling. This has usually been due to work trips which I've extended for some personal time, or just not having a friend or partner who can just spring for a trip. I don't think I could have summed up the solo travel experience any better. It's helped me to grow significantly, and really helped build self confidence outside of my work persona. You get to see a lot of the good in people when you travel on your own, from being invited to join a random couple for a steak while in New York because you were sat at the bar on your own or sitting chatting to the barman in Mexico City or watching sports with someone while eating breakfast in Las Vegas. There have been many occasions where those sorts of things wouldn't have happened had I been with others.
    In all honesty, I prefer a shared experience, as I think they can create such strong memories, but I'm perfectly happy to travel on my own. I'm lucky that the people I travel with socially are super easy going and share similar values to me, though maybe not my love of a lie in!
    I'm really enjoying your content. You're pitching it at a fairly high class level, which appeals to me (no obsession with Vegas comps and buffets), but being realistic about how you review and talk about lower level properties or establishments. It all feels fair, professional and objective, and based on experience.

    Just discovered your channel. Great Las Vegas reviews. But this is one of the best videos I have seen. I travelled alone on business for years and not only got used to it, but enjoyed it. Now, I do all of my vacations solo. Not in a serious relationship at moment, so the significant other is cool with it. She likes to travel with her friends, but so far, I have managed to avoid those. Thanks for a great video.

  • @mdlqx4
    @mdlqx4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    100% FACTS. After being a corporate recruiter for 7 years and forced into the unknown with extensive solo travel I discovered how wonder it is. Now, in my mid 30s I'm all about experiences and just GOING. My tastes have transitioned from urban travel to more secluded treks, like mountain climbing, hiking, national parks, and biking. Being out in nature is really clearing for me. My rule (And you might agree) is that I take very short trips with friends. Like 2-3 days. Longer trips or excursions are solo for me. Because I'm not about to let anyone f$%# up my flow!

    • @Coolist
      @Coolist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I Love that rule and totally agree with it for a multitude of reasons. Mainly because I think you are still able to satisfy your social need and travel with others, which is Really fun. But on extended trips, traveling with someone else isn't feasible or sustainable. I mean, who, in their 30's, generally speaking, has the career and personal flexibility to take off 1-2 weeks and travel. Careers, kids, spouses, significant others, and general responsibilities preempt most people in their 30's from taking over 3-4 days of Vacation at a time.

    I have long been curious about traveling alone, a solo-cation so to speak. One of my sisters had to withdraw from our sisters vacation so I decided this is the opportunity to just jump in and go for it. I'm traveling to the Caribbean in June with only myself for company. People think I'm crazy, that I'll be bored and lonely but I wholeheartedly disagree. I am perfectly fine with being alone and I, too, am exhausted with waiting for others to make things happen. I am so excited. Thanks for addressing this topic!

    Thank you for this! I started traveling to Vegas on my own when I was in my mid twenties. I could never find anyone who wanted to go with me so I didn't deprive myself. I have had some of the best dinners alone. I've also been to Vegas with friends - who did not get along. I was just in Vegas last month (19th trip), first time on my own in a long time. Was one of the best trips ever. I did whatever I wanted when I wanted. I have no qualms about dining alone - any good establishment caters to solo diners, especially high-end places (I spend more as one person than most spend on two). It is exhilarating to travel solo, and again, thank you for highlighting this. You are truly inspiring.

    Great video! Totally agree with what you are saying. I have travelled solo and travelled with people. They are both good- just in different ways. I think some people are naturally more suited to travelling solo than others. Some people will view the fact that you are travelling alone as weird. I understand why some people may view things that way- however, really don't feel that way myself. I have had a wonderful time travelling solo. I actually find it very cathartic. I also feel that when you are travelling solo you are often not alone- you meet heaps of people along the way. So.. if you you are thinking of travelling solo- don't change your plans just to suit other people- figure out what is best for you. Live your life. Do you :)

    My ideal trip to Vegas was only with my husband. We knew where we wanted to eat and how we wanted to spend our time. It drives me nuts when I get talked into going with a large group of friends because I end up hardly seeing them. No one can decide where to eat, where to gamble, where to drink, pool or no pool, and we waste too much time making decisions. My husband passed in 2008 and since then, I mainly go alone. I like it because I can go where I want when I want, and I'm generally not a lonely person. However, I have to say that dining alone, especially in the finer restaurants in Vegas, really does suck. Half the time I just eat at the bar. Coming again next month, and again, coming alone.

    I notice when I go to miami with my wife that we don't socialize well with the same types of people. She has an office job and I'm more of a city guy.
    I'm super lucky being self employed in the gaslamp. When my family drove to Disney world I took an uber to Kamoto and Tea/sugar. The reason why traveling isn't lonely for me is because I'm somewhat of an introvert. We love to be out and "watch" we don't necessarily need to bring company with us to have fun. We can adapt to where we are at and find the right people to talk with.
    Believe it or not I have more fun at the Cadillac at the tiki hut then I do at the fontainebleau. That specific part of mid beach does not require a wing man for breakfest,pizza, Cuban food.
    Were you serious when you said Rits Carlton over JW in cancun? Its important

    +1 point for your venerability. Totally agree on making sure you work your way up on a long vacation. Starting big and descending is a good way to ruin the mood of a trip. My wife and I like to Vegas for a week, generally, 3 nights on Fremont then blow it out on the strip for 4 nights. Regarding Cromwell, I would recommend giving it a 2nd shot and get a room not facing the strip. If you splurge for a suite it's one of our favorite experiences in Vegas. Thanks for this topic! I am divorced and fully MGTOW and getting ready to move to Vegas and leaving family and friends and I am totally mentally preparing myself for being what could be a long time of being alone.
    Edit: I forgot to mention also doing a lot of traveling by myself with Vegas as my basecamp. Also, thank you for being so transparent about the personal fears you've dealt with regarding this. Me, too.

    Traveling alone is the best! It's not for everyone, though. I made my first trip to Vegas a couple of months ago, traveling solo, and had a blast! I agree that it takes a certain level of autonomy, and being comfortable being by yourself, as well as not worrying too much what other people think.

    i agree on the bit about the sequencing of hotels on an extended stay.
    i kind of did this (albeit unintentionally) when i stayed in Japan about a year and a half ago now.
    went from Hyatt Regency Tokyo > Hyatt Regency Osaka > The General Hotel (boutique hotel) in Kyoto > Park Hyatt Kyoto. although in this case i probably didn't care as much since i was just enamoured with being in Japan for the first time, i know for sure i noticed even some big differences between the Regencys i stayed at (Tokyo being the better one, and Osaka's having very old and outdated rooms), but the Park Hyatt Kyoto was AMAZING and still basically brand new at the time so i was glad to finish my stay in Japan there.

You really have to be independent and content with your own company to enjoy and understand that. And you can always meet new people along they way. Actually is easier to do so. Would be so cool if I can run into you over there one day. You deserve way more subscribers your content is ❤‍🔥.

    People and trying to make friends suck. I do my best to be cool to people at work or church, let say, and after months or years, you would think they would reciprocate by at least contacting you to include you in their ideas or whatever (e.g just gathering all up at the office for a lunch together, but no, they somehow didn't let me know, stuff like that)
    I loved traveling and doing things alone.

    hehe, I had a 3-week stay started at Ceasars one week, one week at The Golden Nugget, and the last week at Excalibur but it was all good the last week we were out exploring the nature of Nevada and Arizona most of the time and was a bit tired of the fancy dinners and party, Downtown is pretty fun it is like a little more crazy and real :) but it was not my first time in town so my advice is not for everyone :)..but as you say Vegas can drain you both mentally and money-wise but it is just awesome fun
