- I got a comment recently with this idea and I thought it would be an easy and fun video to make, so I made it :) I hope you enjoy!!
Sorry if this video seems a little choppy, copyright made things difficult but I finally was able to create a version that TH-cam accepted.

So, this is a British actor from British Ghosts in American Ghosts playing a British actor playing the American Ghosts version of a different character in British Ghosts.

Oh he wasn't the first to be offered the role. Jim was offered it first but turned it down cos he thought it would be too much considering he plays Pete's equivalent on thr BBC Version.
Whilst it would have been really fun to see both Pete and Pat, I'm glad it turned out so well w Mat
@@oliviadaly4795 thats interesting, i didnt know that! im glad mat was the one who took the role, i think having jim play the role wouldnt have work as well. but i do hope jim and the others have cameos at some point in the future :)
@fazzieman674 It wouldn't have worked either as Richie and Jim look nothing alike.
This is especially hilarious considering Mathew plays the character getting angry/offended by a movie in the BBC ghosts

@Stitch Loves You they did all say they'd love to do it if they were asked.
So far the only ones who have been asked are Jim (for this role, which he turned down since he plays Pete's equivalent in thr UK series and it would have been too much) and Mat who was asked after Jim turned it down

He also helped to write the British Ghosts , and was in EVERY episode. The Americans buying the rights to do an American version must do well for their bank balance. 👍👍
Of all the British shows to get an American remake, I didn't think Stupid Deaths would be one of them.
This is from the show cbs ghosts and it’s based on the bbc version :) this particular episode was called dumb deaths and since it included a horrible histories actor Mat they probably did base part of this episode off of the Stupid Deaths part of HH :)

The recent news of the UK Ghosts making its American TV debut this fall, due to the ongoing strikes, led me here. I still can't believe that they got one of the actors of that show to be on this one! 😂
the casts of both shows are big fans of each other and each other's work so it was exciting when Mat got invited and accepted to be in an episode of cbs ghosts! :D
My pet theory is he's a descendant of Thomas (or more likely of his cousin Francis Button) which explains the resemblance.

Part of me wishes it could have been Jim Holwick, Pat's - Pete's counterpart in UK Ghosts - actor, doing this, just going all in with the joke. But, I'll never complain about seeing a bit of Matt, and - in fairness to him - he does do a great job here
i heard that the writers originally asked Jim to play the part but he declined due to similarities between Pat and Pete and didn't want to confuse the audience. So they went with Mat instead :)
I thought it would have been fun if they got the guy who played the Grim Reaper from the actual Stupid Deaths sketch to cameo or something.

Maybe now that the BBC version is ending we'll get the cast on the CBS version! There's kind of a reference to Simon Farnaby in the fact that the American version of Barclay Beg-Chetwynde has the last name Farnsby.
i really hope we get more of the bbc cast on the show, it was a lot of fun to have mat on an episode so i hope the others guest star as well!

@Shriya PunkyPou8 it's a play on the Stupid Deaths sketch jingle from the original Horrible Histories (S1-5, not the reboot) done by the same cast/co creators of the original Ghosts, which ends in 'hope next time it's not you!'

British version is 1000% better than the American version (from an American).
I love the British version man, but I'll have to disagree. I find the US version has better writing, more cast member and locations
Each version has its charm. We need to stop the "British humour is so superior" trope. Not always - remember the Brits gave us Benny Hill 🙄

yes this is an american version of the bbc ghosts show :) the stars of the original bbc show helped produce an american version :)
USA Ghosts is just plain rubbish to the UK version.
I tried watching the US version, but i turned it off after 10 minutes, bloody awful.

US version is so bad 💀 Matt made is 100000x better
I haven't any ideas to why Mat would want to even acknowledge the existence of a superfluous ripoff of his work, but at least he's entertaining wherever he goes.
you do realize he is an executive producer on this show, right? he literally helped create this american adaptation
@stitchlovesyou executive producers don't actually do much in terms of show development. Thr entire HH team from ghosts are down as executive producers probably just as the courtesy to the fact they created the original
