    Just watched CP Utility Solutions remove cold mains pipework and switch PRV. Looked simple, quicker and easier, if I'm honest. Still, different approaches may have their merits in different situations, Thanks for your video!

    Good man, I can’t thank you enough for this video. Not only I had pipes at the back but there was a plate at the back right in front of the PRV, and I couldn’t go from underneath as there was a cold feed spur between the filling loop valve and the cold feed isolation valve on the boiler. Your instructions were spot on good man. Thank you! Legend

    I can't unstand why you did'nt clean and descale all the water marks before you put everythink back together . But other than that it was very detail explanation of putting in a new part into a boiler .Very well done one of the best videos i have seen in a long time .

    This helped so much last week so thank-you. I had a pipe in the way so I couldn't 'hook' it around and I had to take off the red handle too, but no leaks (I replaced the pump washers side and top).

    I repair greenstars every day and many of them and i tried this way but it couldn't get clip back in, i tried it once or twice but its just too tricky, I just got into a habbit of removing the whole right hand block now, will try it again though after watching your video, cheers

    • @advancedboilertraining
      @advancedboilertraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the PRV’s are just tricky in general 😂 the only times I struggle to put the clip back in is if I haven’t pushed the PRV all the way back in place properly. Also if you stretch/bend the clip open a little before you put it in, I’ve found that helps as well

    If I can what I do is , if they have a filter I’ll remove to top half of the return pipe from the isolation to the top of the filter that give me enough room to pop the prv out and replace

    • @advancedboilertraining
      @advancedboilertraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ^That’s another good way. I know others usually try to undo the top section of the water scale reducer and do the same thing. First time I’ve heard of someone doing it from the return pipe. I think it always just comes down to the engineers preference

      Just to add, thanks to your valuable and in-depth vid, I was able to follow your guide precisely and replace my PRV, and having my boiler up and running with hot water and radiators at full blast less than 48 hours before Christmas Day. Again I can’t thank you enough.

    Before you take any parts out, isolate the boiler, open the drain off, pull out the diverter valve and then pump the expansion vessel. That way you will remove 99% of the water from the boiler before you pull the pump out.

    • @advancedboilertraining
      @advancedboilertraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love the input, sounds like you’ve worked on a lot of Worcester’s

    • @sajeedfozdar7149
      @sajeedfozdar7149 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Easier way drain isolate cold mains. Cut the left hot water pipe remove altogether. put your hand to the back and remove prv the pin is awkward to remove but way easier.

    My 25CDI is dropping pressure and leaking out of the overflow. The expansion vessel has just below 1 bar of pressure and no water comes out of the schrader valve. Not sure what else do I need to check or proceed to just replacing the prv?
    Thanks for good video.

      I don’t understand this video. I disconnect the mains water-in pipe below the boiler and simply remove the prv and refit ! Ten minutes max ! What I’ve seen here is an insane amount of work , not forgetting most people don’t carry the special pump washers … oh well. Takes allsorts I guess 😂

      Could potentially be plate heat exchanger. On the rare occasion they can pinhole which means that cold water is going into the CH circuit

  • @markbrown3535
    @markbrown3535 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Cut the cold pipe or move it to one side that's it I do loads of them never a problem never had to take the pump out before that's a crazy way of doing it..

    Good interesting video, that way is ideal and quick, but as long as the access in the front of the boiler is correct to, as I have seen some where there is only 350mm in front, not the correct 600mm.. but good vid all round :)

  • @garry843
    @garry843 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    As this component is of such poor quality you would think that they would make a better one or at least site it where it can be accessed a little bit easier. My boiler is relatively new and little used, but I have to get a new valve.

    Always a bit easier with the boiler in the back of your van . Don't know why all the bother when it's obvious the right hand block needs to be replaced .

    If it’s this much trouble think I’d cap it off and tee in a remote PRV on the system pipework below the boiler

    • @simonfrancis5458
      @simonfrancis5458 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dangerous Sir. If the Flow/Return pipework isolators are turned off and the boiler ran you have a potential bomb as there is no Pressure relief

    • @julianwebb8712
      @julianwebb8712 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simonfrancis5458 Unlikely scenario and a pretty lame bomb given the volume of water involved 😝

  • @Carl-re6zb
    @Carl-re6zb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    System boiler easier as no domestic pipework in the way.
    Access to get your hand up to prv crucial.
    Done this job all ways.. boiler off the wall, remove r/h manifold, pump off etc.
    Just find what's easier for you.. clip a bit of a pain.
    Think the design was from a frustrated ex employee who wanted Worcester to get bad reviews😁😁😁

    It's horrible idea that Worcester put prv behthe boiler. I don't get what of engineer it was to do that. Anyway Worcester boiler when comes to repairs is a big pain.

    Find the white prv tray doesn’t drop low enough so have to bend the metal holding it away to give you that extra movement not a nice job to change

    Is this a piss take ??? !!!THE BOILER IS IN YOUR VAN!!! TURN IT OVER AND PULL OUT THE RETAINING CLIP!!! JOB DONE .TRY DOING THAT JOB WITH THE BOILER ON THE WALL WHICH IS WHERE THEY NORMALLY LIVE ,YOU CAN CHANGE THE PRV FROM THE BACK WITH THE BOILER IN SITU !!!!
