Beth and Brooke and Eric, it's all so messed up it's pure cringe. For Brooke to act like a sweet broken woman who didn't recently tell her mother she wouldn't leave Eric. Beth who said Brooke should see seek professional help. And Eric who in the guise of good manners is the most heartless of the B&B lot. In the few years that I occasionally watched B&B in mid-nineties and 2000-10, Brooke's behaviour was always baffling. She crosses all boundaries and then falls apart as if the world has done her huge harm, as if everyone has wronged her. Brooke's tears are her constant defence, the damsel in distress forever. Brooke apparently follows her heart and breaks everyone else's. No big deal. The other weirdo is Eric - nothing gets in the way of him and his libido that he presents as his need for real love. Since the last few months that I started watching the show from first episode, I realized that these two have always been crazy. Nothing stops them from "falling in love" and falling out of it faster than you can say The Bold and the Beautiful! Watching from Lahore, Pakistan, thank you for the daily uploads :)

There is no decency, goodness, kindness, loyalty, brain, heart or soul in those two. Eric is the original sftv and gold digger. Brooke is molded after Eric's character. Empty, dirty, filthy trash, that what both are. Both are completely insufferable.

Eric is like a dead fish - they’re writing him to be so, so cold to anyone that he’s not in love with. His interaction with Beth was disgraceful given she was supposedly his lifelong love, but I guess that gets all chucked out the window when the current piece of nookie comes along. I’m very glad that Beth gave Brooke the ticket and is staying on for a little bit longer.
I am torn about Eric. I felt it had been very cold and sudden how Eric had ended it with Beth in 1988, when he told her that he would stop the divorce and would return to the Forrester Mansion because his daughter Angela and the family needs him and he has to do his part (when Stephanie had sacrified much while secretly taking care of Angela for decades). Beth, the woman who supposedly always had been a shadow in Eric's marriage, the woman Eric had talked to about getting a house for them and her family - and he so quickly ended it without even much kissing and showing much regret (not giving Beth hope that she should wait around for him, that it would be temporarily). This time I am willing to grant Eric more leniency, as he has tried already some months before to reunite with Beth and she had told him she is committed to her marriage and happy. Eric at the moment is a "one woman" guy, and is just focused on his "love" with Brooke (and has told his lawyer about his marriage plans). Like with Stephanie, Eric seems to have stepped out for good on his relationship with Beth/feelings for her . And I assume he wouldn't have gotten involved with her daughter in the first place, if he still had been thinking there ever might be a chance for Beth-Eric. Unlike many other characters on B&B, current Eric seems to be one able to close the lid on a relationship/ walk away for good. That is the irony of soaps and love. Eric really seems "cold" nowadays - while he might be more "likable" (shrug) in the future when he is more a waffler and showing more feelings and care for the ex (eg. 2010). But at the moment (2022) the writing is again horrible for Eric (and has before) , when he is a waffler and just disrespectful to both women in his life (even if the lover does not mind to be a secret lover).

This change in writing for Donna was what led the actress playing her to quit. She felt like her character became a sounding board for Brooke..a complete switch from the first 2 years of the show.
Unfortunately, she is a doormat. She does not know how to fight to get what her heart desires, like Stephanie or other women on the show. She is a perpetual victim.
Margo is financially stable with Bill...she is no fool to go with Clark now...Bill is even ensuring mark is financially stable as well... Right Brooke we know how good Donna is at keeping secrets

I like Beth, but she really is written as a wishy-washy character too, written as being another "turn around". So "committed to her marriage" some months before (Christmas time) and to show a happy face to everyone - but then so quickly to jump back in when she thought that Eric was divorcing Stephanie and would be available again. So upset with Brooke and asking Brooke to step aside to give Beth-Eric another chance - just to then tell Brooke how sorry she is for Brooke that Eric is giving Stephanie another chance and encouraging Brooke to talk to Eric, suggesting that she, Beth, would got to Eric to talk with him about the matter......

I know how people love to call Brooke manipulative and all that, but if she was really that bad on the manipulation, she would be telling Eric and Stephanie she is pregnant. She gets more of this behavior a little later on.
If Brooke really had been a gold digger, I would have expected Brooke to tell Eric about her pregnancy and to make a profit with that (child support, inheritance). - But instead Brooke backs off without even talking to Eric once. As much as Brooke seems to hate Stephanie, Brooke does not even consider that pregnancy to be something to taunt Stephanie with. But the "mature" thing would have been to talk to Eric, even if just to break up officially.
Yeah the character of Brooke gets a bad rap. This episode left me reminded of the same thing you commented. Brooke truly did love Eric, (though never as much as she claimed to love Ridge), and she was not as manipulative during this time as she became later on with Ridge, and all the back and forth with Taylor. She was a lot more decent in these early years than Stephanie ever gave her credit….(along with many viewers who don’t truly know the history)….and I think she’s even going to consider aborting the pregnancy, but not sure. Stephanie’s hatred of Brooke AND her Mother in these early years was just Stephanie mad at herself for not being able to hold on to her own husband, knowing he never truly passionately loved her enough to never consider leaving her. Stephanie sadly spent a lifetime manipulating and begging, and trying to guilt and control a man for love and devotion. Such a sad character, especially in the latter years!!
I would say that Brooke doesn’t want to marry someone who doesn’t love her ( only wants her bc of a baby), and still she won’t marry a poor man ( like Dave for instance..) bc gold comes next in her eyes..
