You can fold the back hood panel. There's a space under there so it can fold more which cleans up his back completely.

This figure was my favorite movie Bumblebee as a kid. To this day I have yet to come across one with such a fun and not overly complicated transformation.

Happy brithday, great review as always but I do gotta mention that the backpack can compress a bit more than what you showed. The top of it (the part that comes from the car hood) can flip down and tab into the back of the hest, allowing the backpack to stay higherbup and not limit the waist rotation.

This is one of the first Transformers I ever got when I was young and has been a consistent favorite ever since. It makes me happy to see how many other people love this toy as well.
I get why they made him have gorilla arms, because the cgi model also has them (it doesn't even have biceps swivels, the just rotate his arms at the shoulder, which they only fixed in tlk). Also for the battle mask, I find if you push it up from the point that sits around his nose, you can get it to slide forward a bit without launching it off his head. Hope that helps!
2009 was peak Bayverse toy era. The Leader OP and Starscreams were basically MP quality, but for $40.
Happy birthday, man! Yep, this version of Bumblebee was my favorite as a kid; always loved the transformation and the fact that it was the only Bumblebee to include an actual transforming cannon. Missed that on other Movie Bee toys, though I understand why they did that. This was a gift from my sister and the first Bee toy I had, so it means a lot to me. Thanks for the review!
The back does compress better than that, though. The front slice can fold in inside the torso (there is a clear space for the rounded "point" of that piece), allowing the windshield piece to sit a bit higher. If you do it that way the back is not as flat, though, so I guess "better" is relative, but personally I prefer it that way.
Really cool to finally see you cover one of my favorite Transformers of all time. This one's special to me, and always nice to hear people sing it's praises :)
The only thing that I didn't like about this figure was that the AXE IS FACING THE WRONG WAY.
Oh well. I still say ROTF/HFTD was one of the best times to be a movie toys fan. Those were all awesome.

I remember getting this guy on Ebay, who I wanted so badly because I saw him in a video I enjoyed made by my influence in stop motion, and while he was more expensive than what I normally bought at that time, I enjoyed this guy a lot.
One interesting feature put here is his blue Energon blade. In fact, I made two just for my MPM 03 out of translucent plastic and blue paint. He was also one of the few Bumblebees who could turn his hand into a cannon without removing anything (others had it as a hand held accessory or a permanently fixed part). He also is probably the only Deluxe (though he is the same size as a present day Voyager) with a battle mask that can fold down, while ones like SS and previous toylines made it impossible to deploy one.
He was pretty interesting to customize, too. Since he was missing some details, I repainted his blade and cannon. While kibble was pretty inaccurate and his shoulder-chest part seemed pretty oversized, making him look more clumsy than other toys, I managed to redesign his backpack, letting it split in the middle and folding into his armpits, plus let parts of his thigh kibble attach to the backpack as well. However, while most other customizers did make his whole canopy rotate, I avoided it since I didn't really like it so much. Soon, I converted it into DOTM by smearing the rims with a translucent black paint, adding black details, and attaching a spoiler on his rear end. For some reason, I actually like the DOTM Camaro much more, probably because the mods done to the on-screen vehicle seemed to make it stand out more.
And after Bumblebee (2018), I saw that this guy "predicted" the rebooted franchise's arsenal, which has a flip down mask, hand cannon, and an arm mounted blade. I am also planning to make some video on one of my secondary channels comparing him to the reboot Bumblebee by putting BB Bumblebee and MPM 07 together.
So I would say that BB Bumblebee is my favorite deluxe Bumblebee, and even beats the SS 44, 74, and 87. While his backpack and kibble are pretty annoyingly inaccurate, it can be easily redesigned if you can have the creativity and right tools, plus black paint.
But of course, nothing beats MPM 03 in accuracy for Bayverse Bumblebee toys, at least the transformable ones.
I remember looking at this figure in the little pamphlets they had with the toys always wanted one of these.
Happy birthday. I remember snatching him up back in the day at Walmart and still love seeing him on my shelf. Perfect car/robot mode and basically, there’s no need for me to continue getting bumblebee figures as long as I have him. If anyone can get one…GET HIM!
One of my favorites as a kid but mine became really loose over time. Also you mistranformed the backpack the top hood can fold into it so it doesn’t stick out

You can fold the top part of the backpack (the rest of the hood) into the backback and get it to compress a little more. One of my favourite toys from when I was a kid and wish I still had it, but the door snapped.

3:47 and it pretty much predicted Bumblebee's arsenal in Bumblebee (2018)
4:09 I used oil to lubricate his mask. The good news is that it now slides down easier without any effort, but the bad news is that while it doesn't fall off easily, it doesn't stay in a straight position while sliding and "bends around" on the slides. Still, it makes it better.

I have a Dark Of The Moon Bumblebee and, to be fair, you can lock in place the cest pieces: one you have unfolded them from bumper position to cest position, just push them in, and you'll hear a click, and the cest pieces will lock in place

I got this toy from my older sister as a birthday present years ago when it was on the shelves, and ever since could never find a better movie Bumblebee that matched this. Because of that I still have this figure to this day sitting on my shelf. It is unmatched.
On a side note, I will let you know you do have the back of it mistransformed. The hood part of the back is supposed to tuck into the back and raise most of the back parts up a little bit.
You can compress the backpack more! The hood flap folds in, there is a groove in his spine for the front of it:)

My bumblebee (97 Camaro version) from the first transformers movie has the same issue as yours does with the axe, but on mine it is the hood/grill of his car mode, it loves to just open up and pop his head out over the smallest little tap or numb, honestly annoying. So i keep him in robot mode and use my 2010 Camaro bumblebee in car mode for display.
My favorite bumblebee is my foot tall ultimate bumblebee that dances, makes noise, shoots blasters, and a missle, and has a few radio talk sounds. Def the best bumblebee figure.

I feel like I'm the only person on Earth who doesn't like how the torso looks on this Bumblebee (the way it slants down makes it look rather boxy IMO) and that's been the primary reason I've never picked this mould up.

Congrats on your birthday! But I feel you contradict yourself a little: You start by saying you start in car mode because the transformation is good and you want to show how it unfolds aaand...then you superspeed the transformation as you always do. Yes. I feel I got such a good understanding of the transformation when you did that.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The transformation part is THE biggest reason I check reviews, so fast-forwarding it like you do is kind of like telling me "if you want to see this in detail and what I think about it, check another review"...and that is what I am then forced to do. Which means you kind of lose me (and others like me) as viewers.
I really like your channel a lot and I want to see your videos and give you credit, but when you start fast-forwarding...you might as well cut that part out completely. Yes, I could switch to slower speed but...I could also go to another reviewer to see the whole transformation and hear about it.
This is kind and constructive critique. I really want to help you and this is me saying "hey, you could make it even better for some viewers by doing this", but it's just a kind suggestion.
The fast-forwarding transformation is the point where I feel incredibly urged to look for another review. Sorry.

3:56 I'm sure it's more than the height that caused Takara to reissue him as a Voyager; the parts count and overall complexity of the various size classes has dropped so far over the past 12 years that what is today a Voyager falls within the mass and parts count of what used to be a deluxe. I'm nerdy and obsessive enough to have weighed figures from various eras and counted the number of parts in each one.
