i am 50 and the s4 active is my first smart phone. it is super easy to use, in which i was hesitant at first to purchase one thinking it would be a headache to use. my daughter told me (jokingly) i was too dumb for a smart phone and my sons said i wouldn't be able to use it and i would be calling them every second for stuff. i really really love this phone and glad i made the decision to get it. now that i am comfy using it, i am looking at tutorials, like this one, to get the most use from my phone.
To get to the camera from the lock screen without having to pull the widget down all you have to do is swipe from right to left in the top 3rd of the screen.
Apple will copy this for the i6 and call it iGesture then sue Samsung for copying them... BTW, that final one is available on my old Galaxy S2 using 2.3 Gingerbread.

My battery lasts all day. Maybe you left your phone charging all night once too many times.. Maybe.. or it's just a bad battery. I'm glad Samsung gives you options for replacing the batteries. LOL

I also recently switched from an iPhone 4 to a GS4 and it's great. There is a music app and since I use a PC it's much MUCH easier to manage my music, the music app is different from the one on the iPhone but you'll get used to it
i allready have samsung galaxy s4 and its great....bether than iphone 5 or iphone 5s. iphone is phone for buisnis not for everything.but samsung galaxy s4 can do everything!!!!!!!!!!
Christian Acarian How essential is a fingerprint lock? Seriously. I think iphones are more reliable, but the Galaxy S4 is more fun to use, and has some cool features.

go to your settings, then go to "my device" as you scroll down you should see "input and control" then under that it'll have "motion and gestures" tap on that the first thing you'll see is "air gesture" then you tap to turn it on and also if you tap it again it'll show you a preview of how it works. I hope this helped you out :)
Super helpful tips-really played it a few times-cuz he goes quickly and you got to have phone in hand to catch on. Gotta say wonderful tips he has for this new phone. Now if I can get pictures of my contacts-in the right place. Don't know why their pictures went away-from my other phone.

got the phone for a christmas present and i love ittttt! i already have a macbook, ipad, and itouch and i debated between the iphone 5s and the GS4 for a while but decided on the GS4! LOVE IT! getting the iphone would have been useless since i had 3 apple products already.
I just got this phone for Christmas and it is simply amazing. I would recommend using the GO Launcher and Go locker app which is free in the Google play store. You can download thousands of themes and it is really simple and fun to customize just about every aspect of your phone. The graphics from the apps are fantastic on the Galaxy S4. Give it a try, they are really fun and cool apps.

Great job!!!! :) NOTE: if u want to delete folder in app menu, go to: menu, soft key, view type and select customizable grid. Soft key again, edit, than put some icons in that folder. Long press on folder and trash him. U will see notification something ...folder will be deleted but apps not and that`s it :)
Android has an app called GooglePlayMusic,they basically have it setup where you install a piece of software on your computer and it copies your iTunes library including songs/albums/playlists to the cloud in which you can stream whenever you wish. This is great cause it doesn't take up storage on your phone, it does use data, but if your on wifi most of the time you really won't have an issue. I don't know if it works with songs purchased from iTunes directly though, as I've never bought music.
That's the great thing about it, since it's "dated" it's available at a cheaper price, around $0-$100 depending on your provider, and it's still an amazing phone

Don't flame at me if I'm wrong, this is my first DL video I have watched (I think) but I don't think he would bias over AT&T considering he sounded pretty frustrated at the bloatware that the phone is shipped with. By the way, I am CURRENTLY having the same issues with landline and internet. Contract expires March though so I cannot wait. :)

Yes, go into settings - my device - turn on motions and gestures the click it, then turn on air gestures and click that one too then click "quick glance" and turn that on ... hope I helped :)

One thing I have had problems with is going forward on the web. Going back there is the return arrow on the bottom right of the phone. I have seen swiping right and left over the screen to go back and forward but is there a button or icon to go forward? Thanks for the video!

How can I get my google search Windows to close. I'm at 50 and with each search it says I have no more Windows to open. I have tried numerous times to click on the little box that had 50 in it so that I could close those windows and it won't work. I have cleared search history too...
the stock keyboard doesnt auto correct when you space after typing a word. it gives you the correct spelling on top of the keyboard but it doesnt swap out the incorrect word with the correct one. and downloaded keyboards lag sometimes when you type or when the keyboard first pops up

First step does work I tryed it but you must put air gesture first .if you changed anything on your screen .
You have to go into settings and then air gestures. You have to then check some boxes for the features you want.
