Social services can't just take a baby away. The only way a baby can be removed from the parent's house then and there is if the police believe the child is in danger. The police then hands the child to social services so a foster home can be found. A social worker cannot just walk into someone's house and remove a child, even if they believe their safety is at risk. The only way a social worker can remove a child themselves is if they have a care order given to them by a judge, so they have to prove to a judge it's in the child's or children's best interest to be removed and be taken into care and even then it's been refused. If they don't have that order they are not allowed to take that child away they can only work with the parents to improve the situation. If they can prove they can be good parents and prove a healthy stable home they could get their kids back. and Trust me if they can they will give the child back to parents because that's what they want at the end of the day, family guardianship and adoption are their last options if parents can't get them back. I'm not saying it's perfect because it isn't and yes children have been failed by social services but believe it or not, social services don't barge in and stach children from parents.
