My rewrite of the Masters 8 whould've been like this: It remains the same members except one, Leon, considering he is the World Monarch I think he should be in a position were the trainers fight in order to get to him, not battling him in their way to the top, so who whould I put in his place? Paul, he is a character who was established since DP to stand alongside Ash in a "Champion League" were this could easily be that league/tournament, but im already saying it, he won't battle Ash, but there will something interesting for him. Now the first rounds whould be: Cynthia vs Paul: Surprise! Of course we all know Paul ain't getting past this last one, but honestly in this version unlike Alain vs Leon it whould take a full episode, while Paul still loses hard he gets to make a good match by showing how he and his Pokémon have grown since DP also as a contrast to the first battle he had against Cynthia were unlike there she notices that Paul finally understands the true meaning of being a trainer, congratulating him for how he has progressed as a person and for a great battle Iris vs Diantha: While Diantha has the ace advantage I honestly want to showcase Iris true strength as a Champion that we didin't got im her first return, while she struggles very hard through the battle at the end of the battle she stands victorious making her mentors Draiden, Clair and Alder proud Alain vs Steven: Just as Iris I want to showcase Alain's growth as a character and a trainer by finally defeating the champion he lost against in the Mega Evo specials, also how he has further himself apart of his past with Lysandre and grown by himself and his loved ones Ash vs Lance: The trainer born from Kanto against the Champion of his home region, using some of his old months and just like in the actual episode show his power of champion of Alola by making the 1,000,000 thunderbolt Z-move against his Gyarados, thus going to the semifinals Now to the semifinals: Cynthia vs Iris: Well i honestly really liked the actual battle of the episode, finally showing off how the battle promised in BW finally becomes true, while Iris lost she tried her best against the Sinnoh champion and while upset she is glad to make it this long in her journey Ash vs Alain: Well, at last, the so long awaited rematch, so yeah pretty much we all know this whould end on Greninja vs Charizard so yeah, this is what you whould expect on it, an epic battle with Ash finally overcoming the rival he couldn't beat, thus going directly to the finals The finals: Well pretty much I still don't know how the actual battle will go out so I can't rewrite it, but all I will say is that for me, idealy, it should end of Infernape vs Mega Garchomp, but I will wait to the actual battle to come out and check it out, but what I can say is that Ash wins being that last Master standing and going against Leon for the title And well on that battle I don't have any idea in what will happen, but I whould like to say that I wish that it ends with base Pikachu vs base Charizard on a classic battle and with Ash either winning or tie the battle at the end, I honestly whouldn't like a loss tbh

Your rewrite is would be far more satisfying, entertaining, and logical than what we have seen so far from the official anime. I really wish they writers wrote the story as you envisioned it here.
If Ash beat Leon in the first round, then there's even less stakes. He already beat the strongest guy, so there's no way he should lose to someone weaker.
Ash vs Cynthia would have been epic as a final match, but that completely defeats the purpose of Journeys. Leon is ash's end goal and that's what the major climax of journeys is supposed to be. He's not like any of ash's rivals who he faces and beats towards the end of the league, he's the world monarch. Ergo facing him in the final match of the World Coronation Series is a must
Previous seasons have had Ash beat the character who was built up all series only to lose to someone else later. But it's still satisfying because beating that character has always been the goal. Yeah, it might feel good to win the whole league, but it has always emotionally felt less than when Ash finally beats that character who he has history with. I could see Ash beating Leon but losing to Cynthia as that satisfying ending
I agree that we should have gotten Iris vs. Lance, and Diantha vs. Cynthia. Leon vs. Alain should have been a way better battle. We REALLY should have got Ash vs. Alain in the tourney at some point. Ash should have also gotten the oppurtunity to spank Tobias' ass at some point, with Tobias replacing Raihan for Ash's promotion match. Also, Paul should have been part of the World Cornation Series and could have been Ash's promotion matchup as well, with Paul having achieved his goal of beating Brandon in the past and becoming a Battle Frontier Champion just like Ash.

Just imagine Leon Vs Cynthia tho 😳😳 and yes, Alain Vs Ash woulda been great, but I feel like that coulda happened before the M8. What I like the most here is having Iris battle Lance really elevates her growth more cuz she wins a battle to show her development and still battles good against Cynthia even tho she’ll lose. But it just makes her story better as a trainer and champion.
I very much like this idea, and you were able to make a much more intriguing story plot then what we have now, my only complaint is, your story is better than Journeys, the fact that the fans throughout the entirety of this series has been making better story beats and plot ideas then the show runners themselves is just very disappointing. If he beats the strongest person in the world...then the next fight is kinda meh. No, his fight with Cynthia in the semis is a direct parallel to his fight with Paul. His battle with Paul WASN'T the finals, nor even the semi-finals, but it was an important battle nonetheless. Honestly, with the way they're hyping up Ash vs Cynthia...I'm starting to believe his battle with Leon will play more like his battle with Tobias. Of course, I could be wrong, but who knows.

Personally here's how I'd have matched them up in round 1 Ash vs Alain. There honestly should have been no excuse for not doing this fight. Alain was confirmed to be in the masters eight so a lot of us were hyped for a potential rematch between the two of them. And to ensure this happened, I'd have had ash take greninja back with him when they reunited. Greninja was the driving force behind ash and Alain's rivalry and he too has a score to settle. Considering ash never beat Alain and what happened at the Kalos league, this could have been the writers' way to truly make up for that stunt Iris vs Lance. Iris vs Cynthia was awesome but considering they had two dragon users in this tournament, this match honestly should have happened. If iris were to advance to the next round, Lance is the only one I can see her defeating since she wouldn't stand much of a chance against anyone else imo Cynthia vs Diantha. Cynthia would obviously still win but it'd b dope seeing mega Garchomp and Mega Gardevoir duke it out. Heck, garchomp could have had iron head to counter her fairy weakness, showing Cynthia can be adaptable Which leaves Leon vs Steven. Personally he would make more sense for fodder than anybody else in round 1, plus seeing Mega Metagross hold its own against gmax Charizard would be dope

I think in the finals Ash will not defeat Leon, then cause of that he'll go to Paldea to become stronger, catch new Pokemon make new friends and such. Then in another generation Ash will rejoin the Masters 8 and will battle Leon again. I think if they do this, where Leon is this opponent that Ash can never beat, and is always trying to beat, then that gives Ash the excuse to stay in the anime. Which I know is what a lot of people want.
I thought about that matter too and came up with the conclusion that it would have been way better if it was Masters Sixteen instead of Masters Eight. The contestants? They would be Ash, Leon, Cynthia, Diantha, Iris, Lance, Alain, Steven, Wallace, Alder, Master Mustard, Harrison, Tyson, Ritchie, Paul and Tobias. Now there are two ways this should go in my eyes: Case I: Ash Vs Cynthia is the finals (Leon is overhyped for no reason and this is a punishment from me for using a Charizard as his Ace instead of Dragapult. Be happy that floating rocks don't exist in the anime, Leon!) First Round: Ash Vs Ritchie Alain Vs Diantha Tyson Vs Wallace Leon Vs Master Mustard Iris Vs Paul Harrison Vs Lance Steven Vs Alder Cynthia Vs Tobias As you can see, some of them are just sacrificial lambs like Harrison and Tyson. Ritchie should fight Ash so that Ash can show him how well Charizard listens to him and I would love to see Ash's Pikachu's 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt against Sparky's Catastropika 😍. Iris Vs Paul because there was a limit of characters Ash could fight in the Masters Tournament. Also, Iris believes in the power of strong bond and Paul probably showed a glimpse of change in his behavior against his Pokémon at the end of Sinnoh so this would be a nice match to see how much Paul has changed. Steven Vs Alder would be a pretty close fight where at once viewers would feel like Alder's Volcarona is winning against Steven's MEGA Metagross because of how wild the former goes after a Quiver Dance. Tobias would perfectly end up showing how dangerous Cynthia and Garchomp can be. I am intentionally avoiding Iris Vs Alder and Steven Vs Wallace because I want champions of same region to have equal treatment and to avoid showing the superiority of one over another, AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Quarter-Finals: Ash Vs Diantha Wallace Vs Leon Iris Vs Lance Steven Vs Cynthia Some fan-service matches like Ash vs Alain, Ash vs Paul and Ash vs Tobias can happen outside of tournament to help Ash practice for his battles. Ash Vs Diantha is a must for me because they promised each other to battle again when Ash and Greninja master battle bond ability. Semi-Finals : Ash Vs Leon Iris Vs Cynthia And finals would be Ash Vs Cynthia. Case II: Ash Vs Leon is the finals because Leon is the champion of the most recent region😓. First Round: Ash Vs Ritchie Alain Vs Diantha Iris Vs Lance Cynthia Vs Tobias Alder Vs Paul Steven Vs Harrison Wallace Vs Tyson Master Mustard Vs Leon Harrison was originally from Littleroot Town so him fighting Steven makes sense to me. The only problems with these matchups are that Lance and Harrison, the only representatives of Johto, are eliminated in the first Round and Steven and Wallace both are champions of Hoenn so both need to be treated equally but this was not possible. Iris Vs Lance and Iris Vs Cynthia being obligatory complicates it further. At least this gives Alder a time to shine. Quarter-Finals: Ash Vs Diantha Iris Vs Cynthia Alder Vs Steven Wallace Vs Leon Semi-Finals: Ash Vs Cynthia Steven Vs Leon Finals: Ash Vs Leon I personally prefer Case I over Case II. Alain shouldn’t have battled Leon and got done dirty like that he should have battled anyone else besides Cynthia Besides the most obvious battles for Alain …I wouldn’t have minded even Alain vs Iris two of Ash’s friends and rivals battling it out and showing how far they have come and Ash cheering for the both of them would have been awesome!!!
Okay the ash vs Steven fight I get it. It should have been longer. I know but the ten million tginderbolt is supposed to be very op in the anime because the z move that pikachu is supposed to have can shoot ten types of thunder electricity and it’s supposed to be op because the developers are trying to promote ten million thunderbolts so everyone can use pikachu with the same z move that ash used but in the games and just remember it’s supposed to be op in the anime because it’s a very deadly z crystal that’s supposed to kill almost every Pokémon in the show. Even tapu koko who is a mythical Pokémon can’t survive a move attack because it absorbs too much electricity in its body when it used the z move attack. The four powerful guardians of alola. Because the electricity it absorbed while using that attack went into its body.
If I write the masters 8 I would keep the first round the same but in the Alain vs Leon battle I have Alain put up more a fight and have their be a Clash between Mega Charizard X and GMax Charizard and I would have Mega Charizard use Blast burn instead of Flare blitz and that was it signature move and I can’t believe they changes it and Leon would still win but Alain was better represented Ash vs Steven but It have GMax Gengar vs Mega Metagross I can’t believe they set Gengar up to fight Steven only for Pikachu to beat Metagross This should’ve been Ganegar’S spotlight Iris Vs Cynthia the same Lance vs Diantha the same Queterfinals Leon vs Diantha but Diantha put up more a fight I was very disappointed with how Bad They treated Diantha in the battle and they made the whole The subplot of the episode and we only saw the last part of the Battle Ash vs Cynthia either Mega Lucario or Dragonite beat Her and the finals Ash vs Leon This will be Pikachu use Z move against GMax Charizard or GMax Pikachu if they surprises us with it.
Should have been 3 6v6 battles for ash and 2 second battles for everyone else. Ash is protagonist. 1st battle should be journeys team and then ash use lab team for last 2 battles. We all know that's not gonna happen now.
Would love to see Cynthia's Milotic with competitive as it's ability being difficult for Iris to knock out in a double or triple battle after she accidentally activates it's ability. Oh but Masters Eight are only singles for some reason!

If we look at this as tournament you either dropping Steven and move up ash or Dropping Leon down a lot.
I looked at those rewrite matchups. 1. Isis delete Lance 2. Cynthia will beat diantha 3. Leon defeats Ash . 4. Alan defeat Steven

No, his fight with Cynthia in the semis is a direct parallel to his fight with Paul. His battle with Paul WASN'T the finals, nor even the semi-finals, but it was an important battle nonetheless.
Honestly, with the way they're hyping up Ash vs Cynthia...I'm starting to believe his battle with Leon will play more like his battle with Tobias. Of course, I could be wrong, but who knows.
I didn't like half of the 1st 4 Battles of The Masters8 SO MUCH that it makes ME want to do rewrite MYSELF...which I don't usually for Pokemon. I usually watch others do Rewrites :/

Personally here's how I'd have matched them up in round 1
Ash vs Alain. There honestly should have been no excuse for not doing this fight. Alain was confirmed to be in the masters eight so a lot of us were hyped for a potential rematch between the two of them. And to ensure this happened, I'd have had ash take greninja back with him when they reunited. Greninja was the driving force behind ash and Alain's rivalry and he too has a score to settle. Considering ash never beat Alain and what happened at the Kalos league, this could have been the writers' way to truly make up for that stunt
Iris vs Lance. Iris vs Cynthia was awesome but considering they had two dragon users in this tournament, this match honestly should have happened. If iris were to advance to the next round, Lance is the only one I can see her defeating since she wouldn't stand much of a chance against anyone else imo
Cynthia vs Diantha. Cynthia would obviously still win but it'd b dope seeing mega Garchomp and Mega Gardevoir duke it out. Heck, garchomp could have had iron head to counter her fairy weakness, showing Cynthia can be adaptable
Which leaves Leon vs Steven. Personally he would make more sense for fodder than anybody else in round 1, plus seeing Mega Metagross hold its own against gmax Charizard would be dope

Well this is what we all wanted
I think in the finals Ash will not defeat Leon, then cause of that he'll go to Paldea to become stronger, catch new Pokemon make new friends and such. Then in another generation Ash will rejoin the Masters 8 and will battle Leon again. I think if they do this, where Leon is this opponent that Ash can never beat, and is always trying to beat, then that gives Ash the excuse to stay in the anime. Which I know is what a lot of people want.
Is a copout making ash lose or a tie, by the time generation 10 come out, Leon will be old news by the time that comes out.
I thought about that matter too and came up with the conclusion that it would have been way better if it was Masters Sixteen instead of Masters Eight. The contestants? They would be Ash, Leon, Cynthia, Diantha, Iris, Lance, Alain, Steven, Wallace, Alder, Master Mustard, Harrison, Tyson, Ritchie, Paul and Tobias. Now there are two ways this should go in my eyes:
Case I: Ash Vs Cynthia is the finals (Leon is overhyped for no reason and this is a punishment from me for using a Charizard as his Ace instead of Dragapult. Be happy that floating rocks don't exist in the anime, Leon!)

As you can see, some of them are just sacrificial lambs like Harrison and Tyson.
Ritchie should fight Ash so that Ash can show him how well Charizard listens to him and I would love to see Ash's Pikachu's 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt against Sparky's Catastropika 😍.
Iris Vs Paul because there was a limit of characters Ash could fight in the Masters Tournament. Also, Iris believes in the power of strong bond and Paul probably showed a glimpse of change in his behavior against his Pokémon at the end of Sinnoh so this would be a nice match to see how much Paul has changed.
Steven Vs Alder would be a pretty close fight where at once viewers would feel like Alder's Volcarona is winning against Steven's MEGA Metagross because of how wild the former goes after a Quiver Dance.
Tobias would perfectly end up showing how dangerous Cynthia and Garchomp can be.
I am intentionally avoiding Iris Vs Alder and Steven Vs Wallace because I want champions of same region to have equal treatment and to avoid showing the superiority of one over another, AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

Some fan-service matches like Ash vs Alain, Ash vs Paul and Ash vs Tobias can happen outside of tournament to help Ash practice for his battles. Ash Vs Diantha is a must for me because they promised each other to battle again when Ash and Greninja master battle bond ability.

Harrison was originally from Littleroot Town so him fighting Steven makes sense to me. The only problems with these matchups are that Lance and Harrison, the only representatives of Johto, are eliminated in the first Round and Steven and Wallace both are champions of Hoenn so both need to be treated equally but this was not possible. Iris Vs Lance and Iris Vs Cynthia being obligatory complicates it further. At least this gives Alder a time to shine.

Besides the most obvious battles for Alain …I wouldn’t have minded even Alain vs Iris two of Ash’s friends and rivals battling it out and showing how far they have come and Ash cheering for the both of them would have been awesome!!!

Okay the ash vs Steven fight I get it. It should have been longer. I know but the ten million tginderbolt is supposed to be very op in the anime because the z move that pikachu is supposed to have can shoot ten types of thunder electricity and it’s supposed to be op because the developers are trying to promote ten million thunderbolts so everyone can use pikachu with the same z move that ash used but in the games and just remember it’s supposed to be op in the anime because it’s a very deadly z crystal that’s supposed to kill almost every Pokémon in the show. Even tapu koko who is a mythical Pokémon can’t survive a move attack because it absorbs too much electricity in its body when it used the z move attack. The four powerful guardians of alola. Because the electricity it absorbed while using that attack went into its body.
If I write the masters 8 I would keep the first round the same but in the Alain vs Leon battle I have Alain put up more a fight and have their be a Clash between Mega Charizard X and GMax Charizard and I would have Mega Charizard use Blast burn instead of Flare blitz and that was it signature move and I can’t believe they changes it and Leon would still win but Alain was better represented Ash vs Steven but It have GMax Gengar vs Mega Metagross I can’t believe they set Gengar up to fight Steven only for Pikachu to beat Metagross This should’ve been Ganegar’S spotlight Iris Vs Cynthia the same Lance vs Diantha the same Queterfinals Leon vs Diantha but Diantha put up more a fight I was very disappointed with how Bad They treated Diantha in the battle and they made the whole The subplot of the episode and we only saw the last part of the Battle Ash vs Cynthia either Mega Lucario or Dragonite beat Her and the finals Ash vs Leon This will be Pikachu use Z move against GMax Charizard or GMax Pikachu if they surprises us with it.
Should have been 3 6v6 battles for ash and 2 second battles for everyone else. Ash is protagonist. 1st battle should be journeys team and then ash use lab team for last 2 battles. We all know that's not gonna happen now.
I kinda want ash to loose the whole tournament because it he wins the means the end of his story arc.
