Loved seeing how aggressive you were with the claws. This was my first souls game and I used mostly claws/daggers and played for trades a lot. Then watching your videos and seeing how much you space and not get hit made me feel like I was playing wrong. But I was actually playing correctly for my weapon choice. I’m still shit at spacing but at least I know I’m kinda playing the correct way XD
Claws kind of force you to play like that don't they? I tried a Wolverine build and found that jumping heavies and facetanking everything and hitting like crazy actually worked best for the hookclaws. Not my preferred playstyle but very on brand for Wolverine.
I'm suprised claws are one of the "low tier" weapons in Elden Ring. It's my favourite weapon type. They are fast, deal quick damage, wont reflect on shields, low stamina consumption and everytime I hit a shield it seems to go through most of them anyway even if not using Bloodhound claws. They also got low requirement cost so almost ANY build can use one of these claws in their build. There are 3 truely unique claws: ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ - Bloodhound Claws which has anti-block that ignores 40% damage negation from blocks. It also has highest AR as standard of all the claws and got bleed. It seems mostly useless in terms of it's ability in gameplay, but it hits like a truck! Better with hero class than bandit for most part. It's also the ONLY strength based claw. Because if you put arcane on any of the other claws they will scale better with dexterity and therefore this is the only true strength claw! - Venomous Fang is a deadly poison claw like weapon. It is the only other weapon that can do deadly poison and use an ash of war to enhance it's poison. LOWEST REQUIREMENT OF ALL CLAWS, only 9 dex and 9 strength! But if you wanna go crazy, you can put bleed and also have deadly poison, that's just overkill though. - Raptor Talons got a unique heavy unlike the other claws AND when you do jump attacks it deals more damage. On top of that it is the lighest of claws only 1.5 in weight, so use that to your advantage. The same applies to this as above but use bleed counterpart talismans and helmet if you want stupid damage. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ These are the ones I recommend to use. Hookclaws are not bad mind you, but I feel like the others got more things going for them in terms of damage or specific builds. Still my favourite is Venomous fang cause it seems to go higher in arcane scaling than all the others and I always go 99 arcane and 25-30 dex at level 150 with 60 vigor. I like to be very aggressive against bosses and I feel like that's what's claws are all about, wolverine style and I like poison more cause I feel like it's not as overpowered as bleed. @@Tarnished_Brand only problem with bloodhound claws, they are a somber weapon and cannot have any ash of war added to them, but they do come with the op bloodhound step.
@@Sweatyman6 Well, if that was true I would agree with you... But unfortuantly your memory has been deceived, my friend. Bloodhound Claws are upgraded with smithing stones, not somber smithing stones. Which allows it to go to +25 and it also CAN change ash of war. Don't know if this disappointed you, but just wanted to let ya know :)

@@Sweatyman6 They recently nerfed bloodhound step, but it's still a really good choice for claws since they don't really have a good ash of war. So it's not as it used to be, but for me I like it as it is now cause I never used it before the patch because I found it to be too op for my taste. Now it feels more balanced and you can now close in on your opponents with it as it should be :)
Was so excited for this video. I recommended the Hookclaws a while back because they are easily my favorite weapon. Loved seeing you use quickstep on them, which is what I typically run on a keen build. I love that it allows me to be more aggressive with less poise, as I don't have to wait for my roll when dodging in.
Hey Chase I love this videos so first a big thanks for this series. My recommendation for a future video would be to showcase a shield (with or without an additional weapon). I as a pvp noob would love to see the value of shields in duels :)
Fist and claw weapons are super underrated. Love to see them featured. Though I recommend popping Lifesteal Fist on them. It's very fun and does a good chunk of damage when it lands.
I always see these paired with Life Steal builds. Also waiting on the Rusty Anchor. Hits like an... anchor, and is an axe with Pierce, giving it some odd but surprisingly good capabilities.

I would like to see you use Erdsteel Daggers! for those who don't know. . . When infused with a faith scaling infusion (like sacred or flame art) your faith stat will scale both physical AND elemental damage of the Erdsteel Dagger. This is due to its innate physical scaling on your faith stat, so you can achieve a pretty good AR for a dagger. Also I'd love to see some more love for quickstep. Some lesser known tech is that if you quickstep left, right, or backwards you can follow up with the backstep attack instead of the rolling attack. Which is coincidentally really effective with dual daggers since the backstep attack is really good.
I think it'll be really interesting watching you play classically where you switch between weapons at will after all these weapon showcases. I imagine you'll have plenty of new ideas for weapons and utilities and synergies that could interplay very nicely
have you ever tried out the Hammer? i saw an interesting build where its used with a greatshield on Crightt’s channel, looks like it has a unique playstyle
These weapons held me down as my back up weapon during my 1st playthrough, with quickstep they make short work of those fleshy ogres. Really underrated weapon, you stack up damage quick with cold + bleed.
First claw weapon showcase from Chase! Daggers are gonna be even more of a challenge. Reduvia in the main hand for a fast ranged bleed ninjutsu is recommended with an Occult natural bleed dagger in the off hand with Poisonous Mist so you can have poison in your weapon with high power and full bleed. 🩸

Farum azula is a cool area. There's so many secret areas to crawl into. Next time you're there remember you can jump on to the roof of that temple and then drop down on the other side. Can be a pretty nifty getaway.
The idea of barbaric roar on the axe is that the R2 gets a lot of poise and combos most builds. Actually has enough poise to trade with ultra great swords and the like.
Love to see the guy running barbaric roar on the axe. It's seriously slept on ash of war IMO, the hyperarmor it gives can be super useful as a reaction tool and the attacks come out very quickly, plus it has a follow up as a mixup. It'd be cool to see it in some future showcases! *coughs in morning star*
Love seeing all the different weapons getting a chance to shine; I would love to see veterans prosthetic, either watchdog weapon, or maybe even a ranged weapon for a change of pace!
Rosus' Axe! Greataxes! 😎 With the short range weapons tons of poise is important but I find mind games is fundamental, you have to make them overcommit so you can nail them to the floor.
I started a new playthrough this week and inevitably ended up back with the hookclaws, theyre so powerful! I usually try to beat bosses with different weapons 4 or 5 times and if it doesn't work, the claws come out and destroy them
I am here once again to suggest the Morning Star. I run it occult with barbaric roar most of the time. The roar medallion buffs the barbaric roar heavies which true combo and build up bleed very quickly, unless they poise the first hit. That combined with surprising reach and counter damage from the thrust attacks make it a seriously dangerous weapon.
For whenever you get the the venomous fang claws/fists if you poison infuse them they keep their "deadly" poison effect while increasing buildup AND duration
I think you should use the Misericorde or another fun dagger soon! I actually find two handed dagger to be pretty fun, that and quickstep lets to dance in and out of range
Chase is a much better man than I, for if I ever win 3v1s with a random weapon against strong bleed builds, the teabagging and pointing down would be whipped out with no hesitation
I love farum invasions. You should try to see if you can get any around dragon temple rooftop. It's a lot of fun using the elevator when ppl think they've got the high ground

It's uncanny, but you'll see if you ever catch his stream -- back in the DS3 days, he would often do entire 4 hour pvp streams with no death, including in 1v3 ganks. He does die, but he can go days without going down.

I saw in the Naginata showcase, he had two of'm, but was 2-handing at several points just because he liked the moveset.
Magic scaling katar int dex build with magic scorpion, spear, claw talisman feathers and a free slot. Royal knights resolve has been some 1 shot fun for me lately
Wolverine-Goat~! Claws/Fists swapping the usual L2 for R2 gets me mixed up all the time... Putting Warcry on for the next claw weapon showcase might be a fun idea, help make up for the range. More importantly the running charged heavies just look really cool with claw weapons, I can't lie haha! The snek fist is a fun one to run bleed on, get that arcane scaling on the deadly poison and the bleed.
@@fruitsalad2035 I just like them because of how well it’s weapon art complements the dagger place style, and bleed is kind of cringe but I feel like it belongs on weapons like claws and daggers because they can often be weak without it
Did you use quickstep instead of bloodhound step to distance yourself from the people who spam it? Seems like bloodhound step would be a good gap closer for the close range weapons.
Hey chase, you should try the hookclaws with War Cry. War Cry actually changes the moveset of just about all weapons you can equip it on and it gives MASSIVE amounts of hyperarmor for trading. Also great for mixups.
You should try out Venemous Fang with a Bleed Infusion. They have a unique poison that does 50% more damage with a 3rd of the duration and very, VERY high status application. They have the worst range of all claws but with the Kindred of Rot and Lord of Bloods Exultation amulets you can activate both almost instantly and get very high DPS without even factoring status damage in, not to mention other amazing multi attacks talismans like Rotten Wing and Godskin swaddling cloth.
Chase! Love the video and seeing one of my favorite weapon choices in use. So glad to see it used to perfection! You should try out Raptor Talons as well! the R2 is unique and very fun. Plus, Try using Barbaric Roar on Claws. the Triple hit has massive hyperarmor and is amazing for aggressive trading.
Chase you should try keeping dupes of the weapon you're showcasing for the invasion portion with different ashes of war. Kinda helps with not being able to switch to a different weapon
I've been doing duels with the red branch short bow recently. Let me tell you people don't expect it when you head shot them with a jump attack, and proceed to stager their attempt to chase or cast at you. They were also not amused at all sadly.
I’m surprised you said there wasn’t a flask that would help with this. Wouldn’t the repeated attack tear increase the power of these since they hit so fast?
I personally would trade off the jump attack boost talisman with the talisman that procs the damage boost with blood loss in vicinity because of the short range of the weapon. i guess it depends on what you’re most comfortable with and your attack styles.
Hey! Did you know while using quickstep(or bloodhoundstep) in any direction(when you are targeting enemy) and then direct left stick back R1 animation will be like R1 animation after pushing “circle”(I mean red button)?
Hopefully in DLC they add a few more Crystal Tears for the Physick Flask, ones like Arcane Knot, or a Tear that Enhances Status Buildup. Honestly I could think of 10 different options. Fingers crossed that DLC happens and there's new Crystal Tears
PLEASE use the Katar, it's running attack is absolutely amazing and its backstep and jumping r1 are also really good. Slap storm stomp and this is one of the most agressive weapons there is.
You can equip two hookclaws and have the two handed moveset on the L1 with the one handed movet on the R1. Something to consider
won't it just use the 1 handed attacks when you R1 or R2?
plus you'd have 2 different ashes of war

That second invasion was really cool. It looked like you managed to hit the hunter and host with one claw each with your jumping heavy.

Lolz. I use that with my sailor build. Octopus helmet, jelly fish shield, anchor, and mushrooms for the rest. Not sure why moonshrooms...just funny.

Tried these when I first started the game before going to sorcery build. Good to see it in action. I may have to revisit in another play through.

The snek fist is a fun one to run bleed on, get that arcane scaling on the deadly poison and the bleed.

@@fruitsalad2035 I just like them because of how well it’s weapon art complements the dagger place style, and bleed is kind of cringe but I feel like it belongs on weapons like claws and daggers because they can often be weak without it
Did you use quickstep instead of bloodhound step to distance yourself from the people who spam it? Seems like bloodhound step would be a good gap closer for the close range weapons.
Hey chase, you should try the hookclaws with War Cry. War Cry actually changes the moveset of just about all weapons you can equip it on and it gives MASSIVE amounts of hyperarmor for trading. Also great for mixups.
Claw running R2s are such a nasty roll catch. They hit so much harder than the R1 and the staggered hits makes at least one of them easy to land.

This is a weapon I've been really excited to see Chase use, this should be a good one.
You should try out Venemous Fang with a Bleed Infusion. They have a unique poison that does 50% more damage with a 3rd of the duration and very, VERY high status application. They have the worst range of all claws but with the Kindred of Rot and Lord of Bloods Exultation amulets you can activate both almost instantly and get very high DPS without even factoring status damage in, not to mention other amazing multi attacks talismans like Rotten Wing and Godskin swaddling cloth.
Can we see a flail anytime soon? Nightrider flail would be dope.
Chase! Love the video and seeing one of my favorite weapon choices in use. So glad to see it used to perfection! You should try out Raptor Talons as well! the R2 is unique and very fun. Plus, Try using Barbaric Roar on Claws. the Triple hit has massive hyperarmor and is amazing for aggressive trading.

Chase you should try keeping dupes of the weapon you're showcasing for the invasion portion with different ashes of war. Kinda helps with not being able to switch to a different weapon

Cestus/spiked cestus showcase?
I've been doing duels with the red branch short bow recently. Let me tell you people don't expect it when you head shot them with a jump attack, and proceed to stager their attempt to chase or cast at you. They were also not amused at all sadly.
I’m surprised you said there wasn’t a flask that would help with this. Wouldn’t the repeated attack tear increase the power of these since they hit so fast?
Straight claw - FS "hook claws"
Hooked claw - FS "bloodhound claws"
I personally would trade off the jump attack boost talisman with the talisman that procs the damage boost with blood loss in vicinity because of the short range of the weapon. i guess it depends on what you’re most comfortable with and your attack styles.
Would 60 Arc instead of 64 be a better choice? Hits the damage and buildup breakpoints and you can put 4 more points into dex or mind for invading?
Hey! Did you know while using quickstep(or bloodhoundstep) in any direction(when you are targeting enemy) and then direct left stick back R1 animation will be like R1 animation after pushing “circle”(I mean red button)?
Hopefully in DLC they add a few more Crystal Tears for the Physick Flask, ones like Arcane Knot, or a Tear that Enhances Status Buildup. Honestly I could think of 10 different options. Fingers crossed that DLC happens and there's new Crystal Tears
PLEASE use the Katar, it's running attack is absolutely amazing and its backstep and jumping r1 are also really good. Slap storm stomp and this is one of the most agressive weapons there is.
