This is the original; I am a Belizean but it didn't take too long for a Honduran band to record another version of this song and claim it as its own. Belize is the home of Punta Rock, all others are posers!
@@virginiagarcia9317 This is very true. This song was originally written by Chico Ramos brother named Gilbert many years ago in Belize. Chico Ramos took it to another level and made this song popular to what it is now and then shortly after that, a band from Honduras named Banda Blanca made their own version and claimed that they were the originators of this song.
You cannot say that 'all other imposers'. Don't forget that there are Garifunas in Honduras, though they're not the ones who stole the song, It was Banda Blanca. i have one question yes this song is from Belize but how can Hondurans be posers Honduras has the Biggest Garifuna Community in Central America bigger then even Belize Garifuna community.
I am late with this answer but here goes: Punta is a Garifuna dance. Punta Rock is a modern version of the dance that was created in Belize by the Master Pen Cayetano, using guitar and other electronic equipment. Yes, Honduras has a larger population than Belize but, that does not mean anything. This genre of music is truly Belizean, created in Dangriga, at Pen's art studio on Moho road.
Belize, formerly know as the British Honduras. You are right, the rock iteration of Punta evolved in modern day Belize. But, the entire genre belongs to the entire Garifuna Nation.
