Thanks for this video, I thought I was alone! I'd like to share my story. I too bought a brand new (1st time boat owner) pro 170 in April, 2022 from Cabela's and I definitely would NOT 1. buy another tracker (or any boat made by white River manufacturer) or 2. buy any boat from Cabela's. I don't even know where to begin, so I'll just list everything out and try to keep it short. Metal shavings everywhere, just no pride in quality or workmanship. NOTHING is waterproof! Within the first year, water got into the trim switch - needed replacing. Later that year, again water corroded the ignition switch - replaced. Next year, the horn switch died - replaced. I don't know what my next boat will be, but definitely not one from Cabela's or anything in the white River Marine company. I did opt for the same viny cover the carpet - that was definitely one of my better decisions. I really pimped my ride out. Lots and lots of customizations. Virtually nothing is stock. Notably, I removed all the original electronics, I have 4 lithium batteries, 1 small agm starter battery, I added a float switch to the bilge pump, replaced the trolling motor, added Bluetooth stereo. And lots more! Now, it's a decent boat. Anyway, thanks again. Replace your horn switch! 😊
Funny, you mentioned that, there were metal shavings all over the inside of mine as well. I did not recall until you just reminded me. And my horn has gone out twice already. I just gave up on it. I love the boat so much, but I do tend to agree and have my opinions which you have seen. I have some other reviews on this boat since I bought it, including when I first brought her home so if you, think you are alone, you are not

I just put a IX3 motor guide on my 17 Keywest 24volt Lifpo4 ( $234 ,amazon) is not expensive and I would check where you could fit the battery on small boats be in mind where you're weight is and how the boat going to jump on plane , for example you throw 3 group 24 size lead acid batteries on the stern that's going to impact you with a jet drive and only 50hp
Great information. Very helpful. I bought my tracker pro 170 used, 5 years old, outside of the warranty; I rely on a GREAT local service company for the various issues that do come up. And no 6 week wait for service (thank God!). Honestly, these are "cheap" boats for a reason: lots of stuff will need to be replaced. Right around year 5, the pads on the will trailer go, and the weld on the cheaply made trailer may fail, like mine, had an after market winch system bolted (not welded on). Honestly, I wish I had bought one a bit older (7+ years), so *everything* that *could* fail, did so, but on someone else's dime! Still, a good (not great) boat for the money. Happy overall.

I'm super interested in getting one of these Tracker 170s to replace my current older 175 TXW, only because I have a lot of smaller shallow rivers near me and they offer the 60/40 jet on the 170s now. My only hang up is I would want a 24v trolling motor on one and it doesn't look like there is enough room for 3 batteries unless the there is room for a 24v lithium in place of 2 lead batteries.

I’m a Tracker owner myself. Sorry about what you went through. I have the Bass Tracker Classic XL. Right off the bat, I noticed paint splatter on some of my motor parts. I don’t think that’s normal. Going on my second year of ownership the back seats have broken off. Have you had issues with this? May consider becoming a member of the tracker group. Thanks again.
No issues with the seats, but def some quirky stuff as I mentioned in the video. They are on the lower end of "nice" boats - but if you take care of them and have a tiny bit of handy dandy acumen - they are exactly what we want! I dont regret my purchase at all
I see the problem here isn't so much the boat, it had one reoccurring issue the dealer keeps absolutely shafting you on with their inability to fix. I am getting a 170 this week and I am trying to be realistic that it is about as budget as budget gets, and that it will probably need work here and there.
I’m literally going into my fifth season on her as we speak. And you are 100% correct, it was something so simple and so annoying that it was even more annoying that it took so much time and stress to get it solved. It was not the boat. Anything that is mechanical by nature will have issues at some point, as long as you maintain it, and don’t abuse it to the best of your ability, it will treat you as well as you treat it. This was just simple negligence, and, take the easy way to try and just keep the customer happy when in reality the fact that they overlooked and just acted like nothing was wrong each time I brought it back made it even worse. There are other issues. I also had taking my boat there for other odds and ends that I did not even mention in this video. The boat is awesome and I love everything about it. I wouldn’t even consider it the budget of budget. It’s a nice solid boat for a nice solid price. Congrats on your purchase, I know you will love it.

@TheNorthwestWind I believe the jet part is added? Or is the motor designed from scratch to have the jet on the end. I have seen the jet part for sale but didn't look into it. Many jet outboards on market place.
If you’re buying the 115 and it has a prop on it, you buy the lower end conversion kit for the jet. Not sure what they run these days with the newer mercury, but you can get it online and then have somebody install it. Keep in mind - when you buy the motor with a prop you get higher horsepower than what you actually get with the jet drive. With a 115, and the jet conversion you will probably be running about 95 is still more than enough, especially for a 17 foot boat. I’m thinking about powering mine next year to an 80 jet I have right now and I still do 30 miles an hour, but I would like to rip even faster.
Hey man!.. I like your boat! You should keep it! tracker boats are nice! my dad's got one! I'm from Ohio too Bro! I'm near Canton and Akron Area! I love going up to Cleveland, Ohio!

Love it. We will have had it for four years already next month and no plans to get rid of it.
@@TheNorthwestWind Good man!
Yessir! Cant wait for spring!
Honest review! 🙏
We do our best! #PuffDaddysUnite
genrealy speaking other shops and vedors do warrnety work ???
not sure
Did they actually replace any parts? Sounds like you had a bad contact in your EKS.
They replaced the killswitch and ignition and it seemed to solve everything
Hows the boat holding up besides maintenance and wear n tear
Ive used it over 70 days already, and she seems to be tried and true *knock wood
Will you take me fishing for walleye in October when the Indians are playing you got a beautiful boat I'll bring the snacks???
I suppose, why not #PuffDaddysUnite
The flooring is definitely worth the upgrade
10000%
But it always looks discolored
No it does not
@@TheNorthwestWind looks like it in The videos I’ve seen, including this one. to be fair I’ve never seen a used one in person. Does it get hot?
To your eye, thats all you. To me, it looks as is and cleans so easily. Does not get hot and is not slippery at all. Super nice@@westonmavis6566
Cabelas here in Denver (Lone Tree) has absolutely horrible customer service. I will never go there again.
Sorry to hear that.
I work at that Cabela's. Would you like me to show a MGR your video? I work the gun counter there. Maybe if one of the upper MGRs saw your vid It might help you in the future.
Do as you wish, my friend. This video was not intended to slander anyone by any means - just an honest overall review of my 3+ years with the boat. I appreciate the concern! For what its worth - Mike Rowe is a good guy and was always pleasant to deal with, but he's not the one responsible for fixing the issues. #PuffDaddysUnite
@@TheNorthwestWind I don't wanna show them unless you want me to. I don't have a horse in the race. Only wish I have is to try to help you in some way.
@@jimmymesler2134 I truly dont care one way or another since its under warranty and I didnt pay anything. I just wish they wouldve moved faster and with urgency since it was a repeat issue (3-4x). Also I dont feel like they are severely thorough and give the boats the TLC that the owners deserve. I could make a video based on my previous experiences alone, lol. Is what it is, but I definitely cant say that I would gladly take my boat back there once the warranty is up.
@@TheNorthwestWind If you don't care then I don't care. Was just trying to help but have a good one and tight lines and I hope your issues with your boat get resolved no matter where you take it. have a good one.
@@jimmymesler2134 Thanks brother! I really appreciate the support! Nice to know that someone there actually cares
What is the tow weight on this boat?
Not sure off the top of my head
@@TheNorthwestWind what so you tow it with
5.3 L V8 quad cab Silverado. It’s basically like pulling a matchbox car with a semi truck. I don’t even know it’s back there.
@@TheNorthwestWind ok, will a Toyota Camry pull it
Doubtful lol
Good review, Subbed...
Hope you get one!
The boot prints is messed up
Yeah, that honestly upset me more than anything
as for buying again I would buy a Skeeter if i wanted a bass boat and I would buy one 5 years old in good shape buying a new is futile do to new boats have just as many issues as old boats, unless your going Taylor made stuff like a freeman, contender or something where you're going to pay through the ass no matter what you buy
I bought a new boat so every issue is my own, not some bobby "worked on it" for its lifetime until my ownership
Great video. I keep seeing video like this and I've come to the point these boats are junk and I need to stay away from them
That is not my point at all lol and I don’t know how you inferred that from my reviews or any of my hundred fishing videos on this boat lol. Quite the opposite actually.
Captain? What are you the captain of? LOL
Of my boat, my brother
You ever seen a mechanic's own car, LOL...
Nope, but I’m assuming it’s a POS?
OVERKILL is always better.. always over over plan.
lol what?
@@TheNorthwestWind I just meant that if you plan ahead for issues most of the time there won't be any.
@@gewglesux true that
@@TheNorthwestWind Sorry, I got what i was trying to say all backwards.. Tell me besides cost what's the reason to go Tin VS Glass? maint?
@@gewglesux weight and durability
Bass pro sucks i bought a boat from them and try to order another one they don't care
roger that
Dudes bitching about cabelas not the boat
Yess!
Same thing could happen with a new car, shit happens, don't be such a crybaby. It's under warranty, could be way worse.
Don’t be such a crybaby? Get over yourself. Being treated like crap and not a priority at a place where you spent over $20,000, I can cry every day for a year and you have no say.
@@TheNorthwestWind🤣🤣🤣 you tell that dumb bimbo

GOTTA PUT 93 OCTANE IN THESE MERCURIES. GOTTA PUT SILICONE IN/ON THE SWITCHES!!! If you store your boat on the trailer.
I’m good to go my friend, but I appreciate the advice
