    good video...my mounts were torqued over 400 foot pounds from the factory. when I removed each one there was no visible damage, However at idle you could feel engine vibration and slight shaking at 61-64 MPH. the new MOUNTS eliminated these problems. just because they look good does not mean they are good! I did not re-torque to 400 foot pounds either. 17 and 19mm at 80 foot pounds and 14mm at 40.

    • @thinshadow551
      @thinshadow551 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I don't think that means they were torqued to an insane amount. They were probably old enough that they corroded between the threads and made it tighter to budge.

    When changing the transsmision mount do I have to support whole engine or just transmission support with a jack?

  • @kevsie2
    @kevsie2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    If you have a manual transmission, then you will have a hydraulic clutch line that saddles over your mount and captures the mount. I worked around this by carefully lowering the jack and allowing the motor and transmission to sag down, thereby creating just enough space to wiggle out your old mount without damaging your clutch line. You may accidentally break a plastic clutch line clip during this process.

    pls buy the honda brand if you buy a cheap brand your car will shake a lot! cheap ones are made of solid rubber, the honda ones are filled with water so that it can dampen more vibrations. I know its like a 200$ part but its worth it. (160$ or so on ebay)

    Replaced this mount tonight on my Civic 2007 EX. A brake line arches directly over the mount trapping it. I had to remove a clip from the brake line under the battery tray, a clip under the ECM bracket (it disintegrated and will have to be replaced) and popped the line out of a clip on the wheel well below the master cylinder. To reach the last clip I had to remove the air cleaner assembly. This allowed the brake line to bend towards the wheel and I was able to work mount out. I also did not have the steel damper, I hope that was a design change and not a part that was previously lost and not replaced. My old mount was good and replacing it did not resolve my vibration problem. I only have the passenger side engine mount / torsion bar left to replace. Fingers crossed.

    I changed out of my transmission mount but the check engine light came on. I did not unplug ECU nor the fuse box I just wiggled both repeatedly so connects could be loose?
    I also had the air cleaner box removed and mass airflow sensor unplugged and reattached but had to force the airbox into the round rubber intake hose that was connected to the engine.
    So I will need to bring it to Oriellys auto parts to check it out for free.

      It's difficult to tell by inspection because you have to remove all the stuff to actually clearly see the rubber... you can take it to honda and they can check for $70. My first obvious sign is putting the car in reverse and a little gas and you hear "grinding"... I thought it was the transmission gears slipping, but it really was the engine/transmission vibrating and touching other parts because mount was bad.... then I ignore it because I'm hoping I don't have to change the transmission and the grinding wasn't that bad... and then when weather gets cold, I hear a whole bunch of "grinding"/vibration on start up, in reverse, and when I'm are slowing down

      You guys have not worked on many vehicles. The civic is compact so there is not a lot of space to do the job. Not the easiest car to work on for major repairs. Oil changes and spark plugs is easy but not much more. It was a nightmare changing my PS pump and tensioner arm.
