Another great video and tons of ideas about how I want to organize my garage. How long did it take you/how difficult was it to figure out your layout? As you've been using it, any second thoughts on how you set it up? Maybe time will tell. Thanks for the content!
Thanks Chris! The shelf height and depth was pretty easy... just based it on where studs were, what I wanted to put up there. I spent an afternoon laying out the hooks and such to fit all the tools and get everything off the ground. I’ll be curious if I change anything once spring comes and I’m out there a lot.
I use those structural wood screws too. They are truly amazing. I get them in a lighter color for outdoor stairs and decking projects (the black ones stand out too much).
Great job man, my shed is just a pre built regular one that has 2 windows that don’t open and no electricity. I would love to be able to put electricity and extend it out a little bit and have a nice work area and have more storage
Those HeadloK screws are beasts!! I've used them on projects holding much more of a load than you have them used for here so you are more than fine. Now I'm not sure if one of those is stronger than 2 #10 deck screws for comparison. Some might be tempted to go that route at each stud. The other lag alternative I use a lot are the GRKs. Love using them too. I'm holding 1000s of pounds over head with these 2 types plus I can still hang from it. Nice shed. Mine is coming soon. Thanks for the ideas.
Love the word dude, haters going to hate as for the rest of us well we salute your efforts!!!! Top job bud keep the videos coming you made a subscriber outa me 👍
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! I am in the process of building a 6 foot by 10 foot shed and was looking for ideas for workbench, peg board, and fixtures etc. I have a nice steel door with sliding window and a 30x36 window for the side of the shed. Really like your design and step by step instructions! Thanks!
Awesome build mate, it takes guts to post in this day and age what with all the negative comments out there! if guys like you didnt do this, guys like me would never attempt to do stuff like this ! You have really inspired me to attempt me to clean up my garage and shed and turn my disorganised mess into a organised mess ! I have subscribed :)
thanks Jason for this great video. I love your upbeat and quirky personality and you roll with the punches from the naysayers. Questions: What is the height of your work table and shelves. Also, I notice you didn't insulate or cover your walls w/drywall or OSB. Any reason why?
I'm not sure how tall the bench was off-hand. I just made it waste height. I didn't decide to insulate because it's just a garden shed for me, so I don't feel it's necessary. But I definitely could. I may add more peg board in the future.
Great vid Jason, thank you for taking the time and effort. I'm motivated but think the French Cleat will be a better option for my situation. Just subscribed so looking forward to your next vid. Like the others say "don't let the negative comments get you down". Regards
Great tutorial! One question? How did you attach the shelf supports (the angled ones underneath)? I didn't see how that was done. I'm going to build out my shed just like this. It's a perfect solution for what I need in a 10 x 20.
Hey Jason, I'm about ready to buy my kreg jig (K4 or K5) and I notice you are not using the kreg screws. Do you do that with all your projects and have you notice any difference? It seems that kreg screws has a strong hold in the market but I would prefer other screws as I can buy them in bigger batches to save on my cost. Thanks for the video and your other one on building the shelves in your garage as I'll be doing the exact same one next week.
😂 still got all my fingers. My grandfather (RIP) did cut his finger off with a table saw while he was visiting my family… back when I was 13-14. I’m careful. 😅
The upper shelf is sturdy, but do you really want to put something that heavy that high up? The previous shelf brackets were ugly and didn’t really fit for a work or storage shed I’ll agree, but I would not put anything heavy enough that high to warrant having it strong enough for a mans weight.
It's definitely overbuilt. I was showing how strong it was because at the time I was getting a bunch of negative comments about a previous shelf I built.
@@JasonExplainsThings because if you ever decide to remove those shelves or if you change your mind, then instead of just removing screws and dissembling them, now you will have to tear everything down. besides there was no functional need to glue them.

Absolutely the best shed organizational video that I have ever seen!

That shed looks like it's got waaaay more usable space. Very nice!
Great work. I hope to do my shelves next if the wee shed will take the strain keep it up
Just building my 16’ x 6’ she’d, excellent ideas thanks 😊

GRKs are awesome! I used those on my garage shelf project.
I’m with you fellas! People often get confused between “not strong enough” and “not the strongest possible solution”.
Dude! I'm been laying around. you have motivated me to work on my lawn and garage. you make it look easy and fun.
Recently I have been using T-25 Torx screws and the screw head allows the screw to go through the wood as a hot knife through butter.
Great use of this space, Jason! Your videos are very fun to watch.
Thanks very much!
Very nice job on the shed, and very nice job on editing the video. Thank you.
Great project. You gave me a lot of good ideas for my build.
Looks great! You did a fantastic job. I know it must feel good to have it much more organized when you walk in there.
Very helpful for my up coming build
Thanks Jason. I was planning on redoing the inside of my shed next week and I will definitely use some of your ideas.
You're not wrong Jason!
Haters are going to hate. You do you. Great job.

Nice job. Well done. The screws are fine. lol :D
Awesome shoutout to Home renovision.
awesome build
Nice job. I've been looking for a good shed storage solution and yours is great.
Dude that was really good. It is inspiring me to redo my shed and maybe even expand it. Thanks! I subscribed.
I think you did a great job. I will use several of your ideas in my shed. Thanks.
Awesome video, you're the man! thanks for all the tips and advice!

Nice build Bro 😎
That was inspiring. Thanks.
Very nice work bench and shelving. Honestly I didn’t want to see you fall.😇
good video dude. Do you have a video showing how you wired the shed?
Great video! Thank you for sharing.
Haha love the beginning! Thanks for sharing it was very helpful.
excellent. i am using all your ideas
Nice work! I'd say the glue was way overkill tho lol
Great job bud

Looks like a great refurb.
Can I ask, why did you not take the opportunity to insulate the shed when you had all the walls exposed ?

Looks sweet bro
Thanks. It's holding up nicely over a year later.
Thanks for sharing. Lots of great ideas here! Just curious…and not a criticism….but why the liquid nails for the shelves?
Makes it more rigid. Wood glue would also work. The nails I used were pretty small. But you would be fine skipping the glue if you want.
@@JasonExplainsThings ok. Yeah would probably skip the adhesive in case I ever wanted to redo the work. But to each his own. 😉
good job
What size screws did you use for the Battens and diagonal support pieces? Thanks for the video!
You did an awesome job! Any negative sour grape comments just ignore cause I am sure they have issues with screwing in lightbulbs! 😂
One question. I have never used a pocket jig, but are they strong enough for your shelf support.
Great video. Thanks
Excellent!
Why did you choose a brad nailer instead of a finish nailer on the shelves? I'm hoping for input on the correct tool choice for a similar project.
Liked and subbed because the ending is what I liked the most!
F-yea tell people to piss off in a nice way...
Love this! Did you build the shed as well? This is exactly the style I'm looking for.
Thanks! I did not. It’s a pretty cool shed. I’ve built one once (smaller scale) before the channel started.
Nice job building out the shed! Did you build the shed? What is the shed size and do you have plans? Thanks!
I didn’t. Basic dimensions are shown in my drawing. Sorry no plans since it was custom to an old structure.
@@JasonExplainsThings Thank you!

I just used long wood screws, pre-drilled at an angle.
@@JasonExplainsThings cool. Did you use the jig for that too?
Love the VW VD'S forever!!!
PS: video is two thumbs up.
Thanks! They don't get many views, but I keep making them anyway. Chasing views will drain your soul.
greatvideo
Love the video Jason! Lets see some more beetle content! Also screw the haters...pun intended.
My dude, this is a great build! I am looking to do something similar to a slightly smaller shed, and you have given me a lot of inspiration!
Nice Z50
Thanks! There’s a few videos about it on the channel.
Good job! Very strongly built! Did you use any insulation?
Nope. Left it not insulated.
well, I need to get to work!
Me too. I have a bunch of shop organization projects/videos I put off when wood prices spiked.
For "some guy" this video is incredibly well done! You definitely need to upgrade your title.
Excellent video. How big is the shed?
15’x8’ Thanks!
Well done...enough talk! 😂👍

I just had those already so I used them. Either work fine.
Love the vid! Those of you here for some savagery jump to 4:49 lol. New subscriber, love your channel! Thanks!
Welcome! Glad to have you.
Nice. Subbed. 🍻
Gr8 work!
Why wouldn’t the workbench be located on the wall with the window?
Heavy-duty construction! But using construction adhesive means the shelves cannot be modified or removed.
How high did you hang the 16” shelves? I
Where was this video 2 weeks ago when I started my shed build
My ADHD has accepted your offering.
😂
Where can I get these plans?
I just worked off the drawing in the video. This more meant for inspiration.
Jason Explains Things, can you come update my garage.
My organization consist of crap piled on top of crap :)
😂Let's do it! First step is a trip to the dump probably.
would you mind sharing the dimensions of your shed thanks
I’m not sure but I think it’s 10x20 or so
How big is your shed?
That z50 👀
There’s videos about that bike. 😍
I wish I had wiring in my shed
Not too hard to add. I did it at my last house... the shed you can see in my older videos.
Funny all the dewalt tools and you are using Milwaukee
Plans???
I showed the plans I used in the video. It's super specific to the space it's all built in.
a shed is nice.. but when are ya gonna mod it for 13 more mph???
😂
Try the best carpenters and woodworkers plans. Stodoys plans.
Just go to woodprix if you want to know how to make it yourself.
Woodglut comes with very useful plans with all the details you need.
Wait did I just see him use the miter saw without a finger ? 😢

Wanna hear a good 1? I call the driver your using, the boom boom gun. Lol hey get be the boom boom gun. Sounds better
OSB blows!
Nails should not be used anymore for structural fixing as they are weak compared to screws.
I was just tired of getting comments about building a death trap. People love to criticize without doing even a small amount of research.
@@JasonExplainsThings the comment wasn't aimed at you, but as the haters you mentioned.
I have done very similar with Woodglut designs.

Joke is on you.
You could have saved that lumber, re-sold it in 2021 and paid off your house with the profits.
LOL! I know! No building projects for me for a while.
what is the damn size of the shed lol. would be nice in the title
