I really appreciate the part on tennis since that's the part I'm having trouble on. You explained it really well so even a joycon user like myself can learn it.
Thank you for the guide! P4AU is a different beast coming in fresh new from all my other fighting games. It was pretty tough trying to lab up my own stuff. Appreciated!
Adachi is so sick. Yosuke is still my favorite character in P4, and he's cool in this game too, but, I think after trying Adachi out, he might be my main. I love characters that have a "secondary condition" they wanna hit in the match, which in Adachi's case, is getting his buffs going. It gives me something to fulfill and feel satisfied about, even if I end up losing the round, which helps my longtime enjoyment.
super helpful video! these videos have been really great so far, look forward to seeing more! definitely helps learning the game since this is my 2nd main fighting game.
So glad to see you back at it! It can't believe it's been nearly a decade. Wishing you deserved views with rollback around the corner! Now to find a Teddie guide T o T
Thanks! Chie coming this week but after that I’m going to try to get two starter guides out per week, and with I think 17 characters left that means I should get to Junpei and Teddie within 2 months 🤞🏾
hey! love the guides, i’m a new player this is my first 2d fighter game, trying to pick up naoto, can you recommend me a guide? thanks, fan from argentina 🇦🇷
You can check out the persona fight club discord for help with specific characters. Lots of great people over there! discord.gg/p4au I do plan on making a Naoto guide next month as well!
Great video! I feel more comfortable with the tennis loop in only a day or so of practice I know you say you'll cover this in another video but that first counter 2b combo in the strategy section once you minimise the footage onto screen next to your avatar: I can get the jump back A - j.B - 2C in the corner but can't cancel into a second hop into tennis to save my life. Makes me feel I'm hitting the first tennis a little fast or not leaving enough time to hit the ground after the 2C?
If I’m seeing the correct combo, I’m pretty sure this is a special land cancel combo. There’s actual an invisible “D” persona attack input after the jumping 2C before that second hop. Land cancels a bit of an exploit where you use an attack that doesn’t actually come out due to startup frames being cancelled by landing. So you’re cancelling the recovery of the jumping C and then cancelling the cancelled move by landing 😬 I know, its complicated, hopefully it makes sense. So after that Jump C close to the ground, you input jumping 2D but it doesn’t come out and also makes Izanagi not grab them. Letting you tennis them to finish the combo. Sidenote: Looking through this video for the combo has me cringing haha Makes me wanna redo it completely 🤣
@@JayPhoenix Thanks so much for the detailed response! It definitely sounds like it jumps up a level in technique aha but I'm a sucker for stylish combos so I'll have to hit up the training room and try get the trick down! 😄 Not at all! It's been really informative, a follow up would definitely be appreciated and keeping an eye out for the other vids :D
Thank you! And yes. But Margaret is a bit towards the harder side of characters to start with so maybe next month Going through the easier characters first 😄
Make sure you execute the hop cancel after 2C by pressing Down + A + C Some people think you just jump but “hop” is its own command You can use R1 as a shortcut on the PlayStation version
I can't seem to find the timing when doing 2C to HOP because for some reason, I tried to jump cancel it but I can't seem to find the timing. Plus I still struggle doing jC into 5B because for some reason in my training, it doesn't connect. Normally 2B then jump cancel to jC then 5B would work, but when I tried it personally, 5B won't connect the string.
Maybe your mistake might be doing a jump instead of the command hop? The hop notation is actually a system mechanic separate from jumping. When you're on the ground, you have to press Down + A + C That gives you the HOP which you can use to cancel certain move animations like the crouching persona attack. For the the jump C into 5B, you might need to delay the jump C just a tad bit after the the 2B
OHHHHHHH yeah that makes sense now. I actually did it earlier that I forgot 2AB is a thing. I'm doing it consistently now but I'm just practicing the timing of jC to 5B
little confused as to how you were able to do mandala at 12:17 I'm pretty sure it's me not inputting the command right but I only seem to be able to mandala after 2C if it hits a persona or opponent
Hmmm, it may very well be the timing of you inputting the mandala. After the 2C, try inputting the double quarter circle back motion slow enough so that you hit A right after Adachi stands from the crouching animation of the 2C attack. And that should get you the displaced Mandala wherever Izanagi is on the screen. Since the 2C isn’t actually hitting them, you have to wait until you’re free to move again before a Super would come out which is why you have to do it as soon as Adachi stands up Hope this helps 🤞🏾
@@JayPhoenix just the numbers were, but I now understand keypad notation but im just having trouble remembering the combos and timing along with messing up the quarters (I keep jumping after probably due to my inexperience playing FGs)
@@eurof0x ah yes. Numpad notation takes a bit of getting use to Keep at it and you’ll find a comfortable groove in no time The short hop combos with Adachi might be a little difficult if you’re new but don’t stress out about them too much. They’re not necessary for starting out.
Anyone know if adachi was nerfed after this? I can only get the combos doing about 3/4 the damage they do in the video Edit: nevermind i dont even know what i did but it was an issue on my end
Might have been damage scaling due to using a different first hit. Also some combos in the video may have been performed with a buff applied from the Heat Riser super Other than that, could have been the opponent (different health values)
8:29 For some reason, I can't get the 5B after the j.C to connect in this combo. The opponent always seems to be able to block it. Is there anything that I'm missing after hitting with the j.C? Is there any delay that should be done beforehand?
Did you set the opponent to crouch? I just rewatched and realized I wasn’t totally clear on that aspect in the audio or in the commands at the bottom Some combos only work if you hit an opponent who was crouching(or doing a low attack which is also crouching state) and this is one of those
@@JayPhoenix Yes, the opponent is set to crouch. I also set it to block only after the first hit. I'm using Yu as the opponent. Once in around 20 tries, I am able to get the 5B to connect, but I'm not really sure what I'm doing right for it to hit.
@@darksoulzFZ ah, just remembered what it is Try practicing this way. After the 2B, find the timing of delaying the j.C enough that it DOESNT combo (Yu should block with the settings you have) Now from there, keep trying a little earlier, like a frame or two, every time and find the latest possible window you can connect 2B to j.C The 5B should be easy to land after you master the length of the delay for j.C Sorry if that’s confusing
He should already be in the game without unlocking. There’s a special story mode you can unlock with him though if you beat the main one. Unless you got the original Persona 4 Arena in which i don’t think he’s playable
