time will prove just how much these guys were innovators in jazz ,i think they opened the door to jazz ,rock , there is just something in their music that makes me think that , i will leave it to others who know about these things

I bought and learned to play the tenor because of Joe Henderson, I loved it because Of Eddie Harris.

I understand that when he would come to town he would challenge anyone to 'take him on' on any of the many instruments he played.

This session WAS NOT recorded at Montreux Jazz Festival 1969. I was there in 1969, he played with Les Mc Cann and the records then came out as «Swiss Movement ».
The place shown here is not Montreux 1969.
The stage was a square and not a circle, decoration behind nor like this

Back then people had tape delay which was invented by Les Paul. I think Eddie is using a tape delay machine called the Echo Plex. But I'm not 100 percent sure. I've been wanting to know more about Eddie's electric sax set up but can't find anything online. He also had a note an octave or two lower playing simultaneously, which is such a cool effect! He was so innovative and brilliant!

I think the echoplex he's playing, that was in vogue at the time. A tube plex had a max delay time of 780 ms only , but organic pure tone

Did some research on Eddie Harris.
He recorded with Jeff Beck, Stevie Winwood, and other Rock Artists.
So your observations maybe 👀 quite accurate!

No disrespect to Miles Davis but this guy has more good music than most R and B bands. His music will make anyone get up and dance and demand you to like it. I think he is truly in the number one spot of jazz.
