You can hear him speeding up in the 2nd chorus but that is the beauty of playing naturally without a click track

Such a special groove. The amount of stamina it takes to do those 16ths is insane.

Clive is the big reason I became a drummer. This song is a huge part of why that is, and for the same reason.

Nicko plays it totally different he doesn’t do 16 nicko is technically brilliant but Clive had the speed and stamina its incredible I’ve been playing for 40 years this is my workout song still cannot quite keep up with him but I’m not giving up ..love the squeak of the kick pedal …

Clive had serious chops, as well as feel. I had no clue the hi-hat roll in Innocent Exile was single strokes.

I love his savage approach, he was a beast. That’s the reason i also hate him when i got to play his covers, i can’t keep up with those 16ths. Also Wrathcild an Hallowed BTN have some insane 16th parts.

I never knew he used one of the china cymbals in the chorus. Considering where he had them in his setup, he was very fast to be able to hit one straight after the snare double hit, especially since it sounds like he's hitting the one on his right which was back alongside the large hanging tom. I know his kit from this part of his career because I researched it to do a representation of it on the drumstructor website.

@@kiboko_drummer better drummer. If we could hear Clive's power and speed on Killers it has some Buddy Rich type rolls in there. I always sweat my ballz off playing Killers, (with some errors of course) it's far more technical than anything Nicko did. The best song with Nicko is Aces High, which took many many takes if I remember

@@VettemanLT5 I know. I thought it was obvious that I was implying Foo Fighters were lifting Clive's drum idea on this song for "Everlong". It also seems like some people thought I was putting Foo Fighters in a league with Iron Maiden. That is absolutely not the case. Dave grohl and Taylor Hawkins who are drummers are well known fans of bands like Van Halen Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden. However, they are not even close to and by their own admission they know this , to bands like Van Halen Rush Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin. I don't think any of the '90s bands are.
As a matter of fact I don't listen to any of the Seattle bands grunge '90s stuff. It's pointless. There are so many bands that came way before them that are so much better.
