VARIATIONS ON A UKRAINIAN THEME by SCHÖNE MINKA
music arranged by Palmer Hughes accordion course book 10, on the last master piece. Minka composed this music with tempo of slow, fast, rapid fast, soft, hard, marcato, arpeggios, chromatic scales, minor scales and triple bellows shake. Putting these variations together, creates a vibrant-energetic master piece worth listening again and again.
This marks the last book and last music piece of Palmer Hughes accordion course (book 10), I started learning some 7 years ago.
It opens up more things I haven't learnt of, and is the beginning for more interesting publish in coming days.

Well, I have been listening to you on and off for the last 2 years ... and by the way, I have a Hohner Atlantic IV deluxe musette with the old style black treble switches from the early 1950's. That's how many years I have been playing accordion. So I hear a lot of promise in your playing, some progress here and there but I keep asking myself: Where is Felix? Felix, where are you? And then suddenly today I hear you playing all these variations for about 7 minutes and I'm listening to more boldness in your style, more confidence in your ability. Finally! I think to myself, Felix is here, he's arrived. And then I had to laugh. At the end of the video you posted your diploma. Congratulations! I'm very happy for you on all that you have achieved. And I hope all your musical dreams and wishes bring you more really good teachers. But in the end, if we are wise, we find that we are our own best teacher. Wise if we are fruitful students. Make lots of mistakes like I did. Lots and lots of them. Then you start to leave behind what you don't want and start to play really well and with skill. Again Felix, congratulations. I'm very happy for you.
Dear Richard, I have not realized someone had been observing me all these while! I am very glad to know that you play the same Accordion as me. And you are so much in front of me. Makes me feel that there are much more things I still lacking. Your comments gives impression of your valuable experience in accordion. Its insightful and I appreciate your comments very much. As I look back on the work I did to bring myself to a level of reliable skill, I saw at one point that I should give myself the permission to make lots of mistakes. As I progressed those mistakes started to fall by the wayside and what emerged was a better level of skillful playing. I think that was my secret to effortless effort, kind of like Michelangelo seeing his statue of David in the block of marble. He kept removing only the marble that wasn't David and what emerged was his famous statue. I think I had the same philosophy about art as Michelangelo. Don't worry if you make mistakes but rather let them be a guide as to what not to do and focus on the skill level you would like. Your sense of satisfaction and achievement will always give you feedback as another sort of guide too. We can get lots of good ideas from teachers but if you look at your progress properly, you to might see that in most cases, we are often our own best teacher. I hope this makes sense to you.
