Wish we could have afforded this; picked up an X2800 to replace an old Onkyo TX-SR605, and frankly, the Onkyo was more impressive in many ways.
The Denons don't start coming with aluminum faces and knobs until you reach the model you have - I don't think that was a smart business move, because even the 2800 costs upwards of $1K.... for that money, you SHOULD get metal, not plastic.
I also think the Onkyo house sound is brighter and more aggressive than the Denon - the 2800 sounds warmer and more laid back.
Because we're only running a 5.1 system, I'm also disappointed in the way these upmixers work - a lot to get into here.

As I told another person. I has an Onkyo Hi end receiver. I did like it but went with a Marantz instead on my next system. I did like it but the Marantz SR8015 did struggle to power all channels at a high volume. If you search videos on the net, you can fine a video from a German engineer at Denon. He covers some of the differences between the 3800 and 4800. There are a few features to help quality of sound. That is why I went with the 4800. I must say, I did like the Onkyo I had, but this Denon is every bit as good. And the Atmos movies are stunning. Also I have used my own money on all of this. None of this was sent to me as a trial from a manufacturer. And I am very happy with my choices. Hope that helps. I hope people will like and subscribe.

Are you using DIRAC? Thinking about going with this vs a Marantz cinema 40. With the money I save I could even get a 3 channel amp.

I contemplated the same thing and went with the Denon 4800. The C40 and the 4800H are almost clones. Look at them with the top off. They use the same components for the most part. Just a few minor differences. I am not using Dirac yet. I may in the future but the standard Audyssey that comes free with the Denon AVR worked well. Then I used the Martin Logan app to adjust the subs for my room. I would go with the Denon and a good 3 channel amp. Hope you will subscribe

With your F100's do you tilt it at all with the feet to get the tweeters to ear level? Also are they bright/ear fatiguing?

No tilt. They sound great. No ear fatigue. You should demo these somewhere, you may hear it differently. With long movies and listening to music for a few hours, I just really enjoy these. Thanks Please like and subscribe.
