Yet another incredible episode - TYBW Part 3 is giving me everything I want and more. What did you think of Ichigo vs Uryū, and Uryū's incredible new power? Let me know your thoughts on Episode 30 in the comments - thanks everyone!
i dont know how much ichigo was holding back but i think uryu in his holy form might be slightly stronger than ichigo in his current form. i think this episode was to show uryu was stronger than base yhwach . this was a top five episode so far
I had to shout out kubobas soon as I saw uryu and ichigo clash. I love that they threw in juugram watching them. Was a nice nod to the Manga. That's all I'll say. Overall this episode gave me so much I didn't know I even needed lol
@sean-y2t gotta remember he was sick at the time and was also asked to speed things up. Now he gets to take his time and do it right. Great time to be alive is it not? 😊
I was checking to see if someone had already said this before posting myself. I cackled and yelled "Not this shit again" out loud as I was watching the episode.
This episode, did Jugram’s distrust in Uryu SO WELL. Its so many things that pointed to Uryu telling Ichigo what his true motives are, but the main thing i love is that when Uryu “killed” Ichigo, Jugram immediately stared down Uryu while Uryu was staring at him, and then the title card shows “the betrayer” PERFECTION
I really love the way they showed that- Jugram is absolutely on to him, he isn't convinced of the charade (Uryu hit somewhat of a non-fatal area, after all). But like Uryu, Jugram keeps his cards close to his chest so he won't say it outright. It feels more true to his character that he doesn't say anything until it really comes down to it.
@@arkalias3994 right or that the hollow inside Ichigo won’t allow him to die either, cause Uryu seen it himself, that Ichigo came back because of the hollow, from what Ulquiorra did to him. I just can’t wait
(spoilers) This is gonna be really camp, I like that all the sternritters like most arrancar, did die for good, but just like Grimm and Halibel and Nel survived, I want not only the bambies to survive like they do in cfyow, but also Bazz, Nanana, and Askin, solely because they are fun, not stupidly loyal, and will carry on a "good quincy legacy" maybe. Uryu and the Bambies are already chaotic or petty people, we need some chill guys.
I made that connection too. It really shows how hashwald's relationship with bazz b parallels Uryuu's relationship with Ichigo. Which gives him even more of a personal reason to distrust and maybe even dislike uryuu since he sees his past self in him and it muddles up his conscience.
Lmao scenarios like this is why I stopped even caring about power scaling in anime as a whole and just enjoy the story, now people are going to scale Chad and Ganju higher than some Gotei captains.
That's one thing I absolutely adore about all of Uryu's dialogue toward Ichigo during their fight. You cna view it either way. Obviously it sounds like all this hatred is aimed at the Shinigami, when we manga readers understand he's talking about Yhwach. Makes me wonder if he was subtly trying to get through to Ichigo to get him to stop trying to blow his cover lol
Also, Ichigo used his own Blut to force out Yhwach's Blut. And Uryu straight up says he will kill the one who took away everything which is actually Yhwach. Plus, Jugram still looking sus RIGHT as The Betrayer screen title card pops up. Just /chef's kiss.
@@rainestar82 Yeah, it's actually pretty cool how he avoided directly endorsing Ywach's plan or goals while saying things that are metaphorically true/his actual feelings. Also, good catch on the kill the one who took everything away from him.
Fun little detail. Uryu's first bow was called Kojaku (Lone Sparrow), his second bow was Ginrei Kojaku (Lone Sparrow on a Silver Cliff). His Vollstandig? He summons a bunch of sparrow-like feathers. Also Sternenstaub means Stardust so you were close.
@@InfinityKrompt I personally interpreted them as the fletchings of arrows, which shows just how dedicated he is to the bow and arrow and traditional Quincy ways.
As someone who’s favorite character in the series has been Ishida since the beginning, the Thousand Year Blood War anime has been feeding me. This battle was everything I wanted it to be and more.
SAME HERE BRO. I was 6 years old when starting Bleach and Uryu was always my favorite even more so when he got the Ginrei Kojaku. 15 years later and the Uryu fanbase has been so well fed. BBS 7th Anni was one thing, BUT THIS VOLLSTANDIG SO SATISFYING. I fucking want it.
Okay, so... Uryu's new Vollstandig. First off, it looks _awesome._ It's a neat and clean design, the braces of sorts on his arms and legs are a nice touch, and it actually builds directly off of what we saw against Senjumaru. The "badge" on his chest is over his heart, same place as where the pulsing flares of reishi were. Interesting how it still lacks a halo, though. Almost implies it's still not _entirely_ complete. Secondly, the abilities are dope. One could say it's kinda basic, but I think that's the point. Uryu has always been a hyper-traditional Quincy, even after joining the Wandenreich. He was taught in traditional Quincy arts, he uses a simple bow and arrows and doesn't rely too-too much on any overly-fancy tricks. Fanciest he ever got was using the Seeleschneider as an arrow, and even then, that was always the intent with it. This form suits him perfectly, because it's "traditional Quincy combat" taken to the nth degree. Having this almost Senbonzakura-esque swarm of feather-like drones (which even kinda look like arrowheads) that he can control at will, fire little reishi blasts from, and even form different constructs and different kinds of attacks with it... IT'S SO COOL! Finally, the implications. And no, I don't just mean it not having a halo and thus likely not being done growing yet. Uryu did all these cool things with it: blasting Ichigo from afar, trapping him in a cage before blowing it up, he even has a new named attack (which still involves him effectively using a bow and arrow, which is cool). But it's still clear there's so much more that could be done with it. Of course, he's nowhere near done showing everything those drone feathers of his are capable of. This kind of ability has a ridiculous amount of potential, we even see it _with_ Senbonzakura. There's effectively an endless amount of different attacks he could pull off in this form. But then we get into his Schrift, which we know has gotten kind of a buff. Thanks to the anime establishing the Antithesis as being able to swap _anything_ (including positions in space), this actually makes his Vollstandig and his Schrift synergize _perfectly._ You know how Yhwach chucked his medallion outside of Hikifune's cage and Uryu swapped Yhwach with it to help him get out? Imagine something like that... except there's like ten bajillion extra things for Uryu to swap himself, his allies, _and_ his enemies with, which he has full control over the positions of at any given time. If he wants you in a trap he set up, you're ending up in there. He wants to catch you in that cage move he used againsr Ichigo? _You're getting caught._ This is, quite possibly, one of the most _unfair_ Vollstandigs in the franchise. And this actually ties into the likely reason why Haschwalth doesn't trust Uryu here. He knows (roughly) what the Antithesis is capable of, he saw what Uryu's Vollstandig is like, he put two-and-two together and realized that _Uryu was purposefully giving Ichigo a fair fight._ Considering how pragmatic Uryu has shown himself to be prior, this would be _massively_ suspect. To put it in short terms, _I freaking love this thing._ Everything about it is perfectly suited towards Uryu as a character and his abilities, it has truckloads of potential applications, and it leaves the door open for Haschwalth's suspicions to reasonably grow into the fight they'll have later on. It's great and I can't wait to see more of it.
TBH, the biggest clue to Haschwalth is that it was a fight where literally everything Ishida did just broke against Ichigo's skin and reiatsu, barely leaving a mark, Ichigo completely overwhelmed his ultimate attack, and *then* at the end he's suddenly able to shoot him? *I* would be asking for the Autopsy after that before I'd believe he was dead.
The entire fight I wanted Ichigo to punch Uryu in the face just one good time and Uryu blowing a hole through his chest enforced that idea even more. He deserves at least one good punch and I say this as someone who loves Uryu dearly. 🤣🤣🤣
When the scene went black & white it immediately reminded me of the opening 'Without any words'. Are they hinting that they came to an understanding without saying it directly and that's why Ichigo took the fall purposefully? This would be insane.
@@olucasb93 That would be great if true and would prove that Ichigo, for all his bluster, is not a dumb guy. Now if only that extended to reflecting on the visions he saw and Ywach confirmed. I just want to see him openly question the basis of this war.
I like the implication from Lille Barro that because of how the Soul Palace has super dense reishi that is hard even for Quincy's to form platforms on, something that sends you downwards like Ganju's Seppa is actually threatening and they had to use Vollstandig to ascend out of it lmao
I love how obvious it is how much stronger Ichigo is than everyone and that he sandbagged hard against Uryu. And Uryu knew Ichigo would never go hard and was able to use that to strengthen his facade. The fight choreography is insanely good.
there is even a subtle hint to it in the episode where ichigo uses blut to defend himself instead of hierro, considering that ichigo at this point must be aware how dangerous hollow reiyatsu is to the quincy, he would be using his hollow powers more if he really wanted to kill uryu here.
Uryū’s Vollständig probably doesn’t have a name yet since it’s still incomplete. He’s also still missing the Heiligenschein every Quincy has so I think similarly to Lille he has to meet some sort of conditions in order to activate the true version of it. Also Kisuke probably knew of the soul king’s limbs and their capabilities but he’s just never heard of the Kamikake ritual specifically.
Glad I'm not the only one who realized it's probably not a complete Volstandig but I never even thought of it being similar to Lilles The Reishi when the cross formed looked incomplete so I immediately knew this isn't the complete Volstandig but it's really nice we got to see it at all
@@quinnconley9827 I personally thought the Halo was all the arrows circling around his body as opposed to the typical one, but the lack of a name is notable
I damn near jumped out of my chair when Uryu used his Vollständig. It looked so clean too. Sucks we didn't get a name but we got it anyways. This is so much better than the manga it's not even funny
@@crusaderpenguin5326 that will be an epic fight. If we even get Haschwalts Vollständig... i have goosebumps right now just thinking on it... that would be the absolute cherry on the cake.
@@talos86Oh yeah it was 100% not a complete one. I think they're making Uryu's power evolve every time he uses it. The first time he used it he was struggling to control it and now he gets a partial Vollständig. Once he uses it again I'd assume it's gonna be complete with a Zeichen and everything. Probably against Hashwalth
I love that how, near the end, it really did look like Ichigo was going Bankai since he sorta "joined" Zangetsu in two. The same motion he used against Yhwach
He actually had his blades in a cross stance during that moment of the episode. But against Yhwach it went in a pretty specific order (primarily because Ichigo doesn’t have mastery of his true powers yet). Firstly Ichigo needs to wake Zangetsu (hollow side) up first. Then when he goes bankai he stretches out both arms in front of him with the blades side by side against each other, THEN lifts them up above him as he releases the bankai.
@@jakesully007 I don't think him awakening his hollow powers are a necessary trigger for him to go Bankai. It can be a byproduct of him "powering up" or, like you said, to sorta test out his own powers, since he doesn't have much mastery over them. It's the only thing that would make sense since that specific pose for something like a Getsuga Jujisho wouldn't fit or work out that well xd
@@heavenlybricky2897 You’re right that awakening his hollow side is not an actual trigger for his bankai, however it IS a prerequisite for it given Ichigo’s level of mastery at this point. Think about it, if it weren’t true then there would also be no need to start off his fight against Yhwach the way he did, using Yhwach’s quincy reiatsu to wake up Zangetsu. Instead he could have just gone bankai from the get go and his hollow side would have been awake given that his bankai melds all his power. But that wasn’t the case, Zangetsu needs to be awake first. Not exactly sure what Ichigo was gonna do against Uryu in that moment but getsuga jujisho (a stronger one) is my guess.
@@jakesully007 That's fair yeah. Personally, I'd like to think that Ichigo wouldn't really scream and lift both of his swords out of nowhere. His stance is what really throws me off. I think he was screaming out of regret and possible sorrow that he had to go that far to fight Uryu and probably go for a Bankai. That's my head canon tho xp The way the story has been re-written, adapted and overhauled, I wouldbe surprised xd
@@heavenlybricky2897 Yeah I get you, the stance through me off too at first. I also think you’re right that he felt sad that he had get more serious and having to hurt his friend. I do hope we get to see his bankai properly shown, I have hope with all the rewrites 🙏😅
I like how uryu purposefully didn't hit any of ichigo's vital organs with his arrow. The whole fight was uryu hinting at his true intentions without saying them outright.
Something no one has mentioned so far is how Uryu's Volstandig is so true to himself For the longest time we've only experienced anything Quincy through Uryu and some of his techniques gained popularity like Licht Regen, so I think it's really creative that his Volstandig is completely themed around arrows and his control over them because unlike other Quincies that's how Uryu primarily fought and I love how they work it's a mini Senbonzakura for offense and Defense and Uryu even has another technique when in Volstandig (Thought this was too important to just add into my previous comment so I made 2)
It's also extremely compatible with his Scrifft If he was serious he could regularly use the Antithesis to swap places with either himself or the opponent with ANY arrowhead he summoned
@@elemomnialpha Uryu could probably pull some insane feats if he uses his schrift with the arrows, it might even balance out his fight with Haschwalth more because he'd have way more to deal with
my FIRST thought on seeing it was "aww thats disappointing" because I wanted big wings, drama and then about 10 seconds later "hang on. no wait. its perfect. Humble, protective, focused on his hands and feet with bracers. Theres one shot with his arms at his sides and the bracers on his legs make him look like hes nailed to a cross, the wiings looking like outstretched arms as his own are at his side. and of course the mark over his heart giving me Christ's Stigmata vibes... full on martyr for the cause. His arrows being projectiles/like feathers or birds is also yup perfectly him and an extension of Licht Regen. its wonderful. never been so happy to be disappointed lmao
@@kuromu8467 because they haven't (and probably never will) added data transfer on the switch version. So you'll be able to start over whether you like it or not
I still am amazed by the team work, orihime, chad, and ganju displayed against a serious ass threat. Like I was not expecting those 3 to step up in any capacity, I honestly gasped when orihime didn't hesitate to block the onslaught on ganju, I loved seeing her take action and her shield not break at all or crack, I jumped when chad threw a punch after she shielded. im still in aww about it all. Chad was sickening, loved it, and go ganju every time
They changed so much that even us manga readers get excited each week! So Yhwach absorbs the Soul King's body and not Mimihagi Sama in this version, we also finally see Uryu's Vollständig!
@@anonisnoone6125 Yep, in the manga he doesn't rip him apart but takes the shadow hand (Mimihagi) and turns himself into shadow, makes sense. I don't know why they changed it but I assume the anime team and Kubo have a plan set in place. Also I thought maybe I was tripping but seems like MrTommo also noticed how Uryu is missing his halo ring above his head, nice foreshadowing that he doesn't fit in that group and will betray them but maybe because he is a half blood Quincy maybe that's another reason why he is missing the halo, very interesting.
@@QuesTV92 Uryu... Didn't you follow the manga even in the anime they already explained it. His mother was not a pure Quincy that's why Uryu's father should have married with Ichigo's mother Masaki.
Ichigo vs Uryu was everything I could have ever wanted it to be, I like that seemingly Uryu's Holy Form isn't derived from his Shcrift but rather just an extension of his natural Quincy powers
hell yes. Its kinda like how Giselle's vollstandig is just her own dead army rather than using actual shinigami/quincies. Or more like how Pernida's vollstandig is more of a extra limbs and physical combat so far while Pernida's compulsary is separate. WAIT its like how Liltotto's vollstandig is all offense for cutting up her meal, but her gluttony is the actual power consumption part. When Uryu's schrift is antithesis, it helps actually having destructive powers to balance out.
@@TheBirdOHermes Vollständig isn't really derived from the Schrift though? It's influenced by the Schrift, but it's fundamentally an evolution of the Letz Stille, which isn't tied to Schriften.
@@MrGksarathy yes, what I mean is that most quincy once they enter Vollständig use only their shcrift (Äs Nödt with his otic fear and Candice with her lightining) where as Uryu's Vollständig seemingly (at least for now) has nothing to do with the Antithesis
In the manga, it was the sniper Quincy who hit Ichigo as he fell from the royal palace. So I'm guessing that its later gonna be revealed that Uryu's arrow missed and it was actually the sniper's attack that hit him.
Jugram noticed - Ichigo Missing his Jujisho - Ishida didn’t hit any vitals - Ishida’s Subliminal messaging - Lille Barro having to probably put another shot into Ichigo to make sure he’s dead (probably next episode)
Uryu got to shine brightly especially with the top grade animation. This is certainly a stand out episode from major incidents to small details. Also liked how we got to see Yoruichi in action too even if she was ultimately incapacitated. Solid episode overall.
Really love how Uyru's Holy Form highlights his Quincy=arrow thing, along with his ability to fire arrows without summoning his bow. The arrow drones are cool. And that Hashwald is still sus about Uryu. He likely knows Uryu could have clearly hit Ichigo's heart or Soul Sleep.
Orihime, Chad and Ganju vs. the Shutsstoffel was just so increadibly epic and I can't belive they actually did that! I would happily have watched some more of that fight though, like Gerald being touched by their conviction and Chad actually pushing/impressing Gerald a little and stuff. Liked how Ganju's attack was what forced all the Shuzstoffel-members at once, to activate their partial-holy forms
Can we talk about how Orihime squared up real quick? She looked like she wanted to throw hands! If Orihime were to actually throw hands with someone, I’d root for her 100%! 🤣🤣🤣 And Orihime and Chad did good in blocking the attacks from the Schutzstaffel! I was impressed! I knew they weren’t going to win, but I was impressed! Same with Ganju!
that last shot from Uryu was truly a JAW DROPPING moment. I had to sit with it for a bit the way I see it, and he even implies it in what he says in the ep: Uryu never intended to live through this whole encounter, right? And he knows Ichigo's recovered from worse. So he toook that shot to take Ichigo out, continuing with his own plan... he had faith Ichigo would recover but man. if him killing Senjumaru was putting him on "hard to come back from".... I love the angst, determination and conflict this ads. GOD I love Uryu, always have and always will. Even if he really did end up on the dark side The entire fight was STUNNING visually, music, VAs, writing, CHOREO. GOD THE FIGHT CHOREO. I COULD GO FRAME BY FRAME. AND URYUS VOLLSTANDIG! its EVERYTHING I have been dreaming of for 6+ years since I read the manga, years before the anime was even a possibility. I'm so stunned and happy. This might be my fav ep of Bleach. Went in TERRIFIED it wasnt gonna live up to the hype but it DELIVERED. and then you add in all the little things seeding the ending.....yeah. TYBW is THAT anime. Nothings gonna beat it.
The confused, mixed with shocked look on ur face right before they ichigo missing his side was exactly the same as mine 😂, completely caught me off guard
only thing that bummed me out was I wanted that shot of Yhwach saying he will absorb the soul king. you know that panel where he's holding a weak mimihagi in his hand saying like "Soul King will be absorbed by me" or something
@FGame2star yeah. And he has the darkness seeping over half his face. Oh well. This version is very good too. Most of the time was spent fighting Mimihagi instead of devouring the sk
Seeing Chad actually participate and do things feels like a fever dream. I expected him to just be a background decoration, honestly really greatful that Chad is actually doing something this time even if his contributions are relatively small. I seriously hope he gets some kind of power up and does something later. The way he's fighting seems a bit strange, he seemingly only uses his fullbring temporarily and keeps deactivating and reactivating both of his arms rather then keeping both active at the same time? How come he's doing that? Uryu fighting ichigo is exactly what the story needed honestly and so glad we got an actual fight with them. Ichigo using blut vene to block Uryu's attack and Uryu looking surprised we're great details and i really love that. The Vollstandig was really cool although felt a little underwhelming in terms of what it could actually do. I felt as though all it really did was enhance his basic reishi manipulation rather then give him entirely new abilities.
It is so funny in a good way that somehow Ganju put in some work against the schutzstaffel, who would have ever guessed Ganju of all people would get some love
Fully convinced ichigo was going to activate his bankai before he was shot down by Ishida. Was an amazing episode and probably the best so far this season.
@@thealmighty700 it wasn't, in Manga he puts his sword perpendicular while here he was crossing, probably was about to fire another serious getsuga jujisho
When he transformed the cross absorbed reishi like Sclaveray, so i think he used both at the same time without even calling both names, i think this shows his inexpensive since Old Man Zangetsu told us that a named attack (move in this case) is stronger that a nameless one.
Rather than beating you on the head that Uryu is suspected all along by Jugram with him verbally saying and it turning out to be true- the subtle glance after all seemed cordial to putting the dots together is not only more nuanced but it’s more in character
That animation! The visuals were stunning, and they’ve really nailed the chaotic, explosive energy of battle. Watching Uryu unleash his arrows, almost as if he’s summoning a flurry of swords like a Quincy-style Senbonzakura, was a treat. And seeing Ichigo effortlessly block those attacks while still trying to reach out to his friend added layers to their dynamic. The anime’s bold approach, twisting familiar events and adding new scenes, It’s exactly what we wanted!! more context, more action, and most importantly, more heart. If they keep up this quality, the rest of the arc might just outshine the manga entirely!!
I noticed that those bird arrows from Uryus volstandig resemble those mini needles used by phlebotomists, perhaps hinting at Uryu's future as a doctor 🤔
for that brief second when Uryu is surprised that Ichigo has blut a crackpot theory came into my head. What if the anime changes things to where Uryu genuinely DID turn evil but they make it to where Uryu learning that Ichigo is a quincy puts doubts in his mind and has him rethink his allegiance and THEN decide to turn double agent... probably not but it's crazy to think about lol
I love the Ichigo vs Uryu fight. Looks beautiful, made Uryu look great, but also still sold that Ichigo was stronger, losing because he wasn't resolved rather then because he was weaker.
There's just something so funny to me about the scene where Askin tells Gerard to go ahead and fight Orihime, Chad, and Ganju. It's super subtle but when he's saying the line, Pernida gives him this look like he's saying "This fucking guy". It's such a tiny detail but it's just funny to see that extra little bit of interaction between the group, same thing for Gerard coming in to catch Pernida. He didn't need to do that. He easily could've just flown back up himself but he still let himself get caught and carried like a Disney princess and it's incredibly funny to me.
They turned uryu into a gundam with that volstaind. It was so true to his character using arrows. Even his arrows shot arrows lol. I also loved that hes progressed so far in base that he was shooting arrows without a bow up close
@@Martin-zd8eb vollstandig and voll stern dich are both acceptable at this point. vollstandig was the correct one for the longest time just because thats how a lot of the translations of the manga referred to it, but now almost every translation of the anime uses voll stern dich. hell, even tommo calls it the latter now

Chad going from having his shield sliced by Nnoitra to tanking a swing from Gerard is a huge climb for the man we can't imagine losing. Also, it's clear that Ichigo did not put his all behind that Getsuga Jujisho on top of intentionally missing as the size was drastically smaller than the one he fired at Ywach which shows just how much he was holding back while fighting Uryu.
Finally, the quicksand part of Senjumaru's Bankai makes sense. Uryu's Vollstandig was on par with Ichigo holding back at his new Shikai, which is impressive. "Against the Judgement" and the upward arrow in it make me think the next episode will involve the surviving Sternritter joining with the Shinigami
False lol uryu vollstandig was not complete but it was easily above ichigo's true shikai. And uryu was holding back too lol. Ichigo was about to use his bankai, he was thinking about it, you can see him putting his sword together and lifting them, his is how he did his bankai in the manga. Also his attack could cave away ichigo's getsuga tensho. And if you are one those people who think ichigo missed uryu on purpose then you should know that the truth is : Ichigo can't control the direction anymore once he throws it. Ichigo never targeted Uryu but his attack he wanted to push it back with his own getsuga jujisho. If Ichigo could control the direction of his getsuga jujisho after throwing it, then he wouldn't need to yell at Candice: ""dodge it, idiot"""! Uryu's attack deflected Ichigo's getsuga jujisho and not that Ichigo intentionally missed Uryu 😂😂😂 (that's just to heal your ego, you don't accept the fact that Uryu in vollstandig, without making an effort could have forced him to want to use his bankai) especially since in fact he never targeted Uryu but rather his attack.
I like the idea that Uryu knew how advanced the Soul Society's healing techniques have gotten so he knew how to make it look like he was seriously trying to kill Ichigo without actually killing him. That line of his that he gave to him about "the one to blame" could really apply to Yhwach when you think about it. I can't wait to see Ichigo and the other's reaction to everything that happened. Will they still have faith in him even after that, I wonder?
You realize how good an episode is when 20 minutes seem like 2. I couldn't stop screaming. Great Animation, soundtrack and direction. Wild action scenes from beginning to end, expanded lore with a better look at Uryu's motivations.... Everything was crazy. what every BLEACH fan has been waiting for years. I was ecstatic and with my mouth open when it finished. Don't miss the post-credits scene. Best Episode of part 3 and let me doubt... of the entire TYBW yet.
I specifically love the slight wincing in Uryuu's eyes when he was about to shoot that last shot. He knows, he *had to do it.* MAN, I love this series more than I imagined I would.
So Ichigo now has enough experience with jujisho to stop a major attack while missing the person without yelling at them to dodge and calling them an idiot.
Lol you need host a viewing party. Youd be surprised how many people support snd appreciate you snd knowing when we watch that Tommooo gone be happpyyy
Big fan of Ury's ability - its very fitting and simple. Arrows. As the face of Quincies for majority of the series it makes sense to not give him any cooky gimmicks.
I wasn't expecting Uryu's Volstandig at all or him killing Ichigo I still feel like Uryu's is incomplete because of how it activated, the Reishi wasn't as complete so I feel like we'll 100% see it again in this or the next cour maybe with the Halo and it's name reveal (probably against Haschwalth now that I'm thinking about it)

It's nice that Ichigo was now actively using Blut Vene during his fight with Uryuu, and that being a surprise to him ofc. Just getting to see Uryuu actually doing things and saying stuff feels crazy to me lol. His holy form looks sick. I liked that Ichigo could've overpowered him if he wasn't getting caught up in his feelings, he was handling the start of the fight pretty well. I loved that Orihime, Chad and Ganju tried to fight off the SS just to get blown away pretty easily from Gerard alone. Even with their training it didn't feel like they should be at that level and thankfully, they are not. Ganju stocks have never been this high🙏🙏 I appreciate that he tried but unfortunately people can walk on air in this world.
I'm not entirely sure if ichigo can use blut vene of his own volition it seems to be passively activated, or else he should've used it to mitigate the last shot from uryu
@@Shirosaki_Ichigo That's fair, my main reason to think he is actually using it is because of how he undid the Blut Vene that was started by Ywach's sword and then we soon get that shot of him protecting himself with it. If it doesn't activate on it's own anymore it would make sense that Uryuu's shot got him since he was clearly hesitating on what to do. Either way, it's nice to see his quincy side shown more often.
@@amarillo-ic2fuhonestly I have to disagree with literally have 0 clue how strong Chad is at this point dude is blocking yhwach attacks and other stronger characters attacks and we know how busted orhimie is I think we need to start increasing some power levels
@@Supreme_talks True, there's no way of telling how strong Chad actually is but i still feel he should be below the SS, tho i expected a little more than just him getting swatted away from one swing, and i wouldn't count him getting smacked by Yhwach. The story could have used more quincy like the W guy i forgot the name of so there are below SS opponents for other characters to fight (there will be too many allies later imo), the SS is clearly being saved for specific matches so they can't be defeated, injured or be shown using their full powers even against Squad Zero which is kinda lame tbh. About Orihime, i personally gave up during the Arrancar arc for her to be given something cool to do battle-wise. I just have a different vision of a what a healer should be than the series so it is what it is. Even with her ability to reject reality it always felt like the story refuses to give her anything noteworthy, with the funniest example being the Arrancar arc itself with the getting rid of the Hogyoku stuff (not that she didn't have good moments unrelated to her power). I agree they should be more powerful, but at this point in the story it would be pretty wild if they can actually hold up to the SS after being done like that in this episode. In my perfect world each of them would help out against the SS match ups, like Orihime using her power to get rid of the quincy cross in Gerard's heart and kill him for good, but i'm not getting my hopes up too much lol.
One of the details I like is that Uyru's Volstandig doesn't have a halo. That seems like some amazing foreshadowing, along with the title. Amongst all the other foreshadowing that is subtly done.
A point I would like to make - the only other Quincy to fire straight up arrows without first forming their Heilig Bogen is Yhwach - they're really trying to hype in that Uryuu is a legitimate successor to the Wandenreich and on the same pedestal as Yhwach, even as someone who hasn't necessarily come in to their full power yet.
Uryu's betrayal is done masterfully. He is so much more brutal and serious than in the manga and blowing a hole in Ichigo is definetly enough to make no Schutzstaffel member doubt him. But when you look at it closer, there are so many small details that give away Uryu's true motive: -The fact that he saw Ichigo survive a hole in his chest and knowing that Hime is there, both of those facts allow him to end Ichigo this brutally. The other spectators just don't have that knowledge. -In addition to that, the Schutzstaffel probably aren't aware of Uryu's Schrift. If they were, it would be suspicious that he doesn't use it, because it could have defeated Ichigo a lot easier. -Uryu's line "I'll never forgive the one who took everything from me" clearly meant to seem like he is talking about the Shinigami, but he is actually talking about Yhwach.
12:19 Uryu's Vollstandïg seems like an ironic call back to his fight Jirōbō Ikkanzaka, with the feathers flitting about him similar to Jirōbō's shikai.
@ThermiteKitty New thought: Look at Uryu vs Mayuri versus Ichigo vs. Kenpachi. Uryu didn't hold back, he just missed Mayuri; while Ichigo actively SPARED Zaraki. Now Jugo suspects Uryu because he missed Ichi's Hakusui a didn't finish him off. Yet, he ALSO has a similar plan that he hatched with BB.

This episode, did Jugram’s distrust in Uryu SO WELL.

Same
He's my 3rd favorite character only after Yoruichi and Kisuke so I also agree. This was simply Amazing!
He's my favourite character too. This anime has been so great for him, I 'm really happy.
Uryu is my fav too so I know how this feels.
This is a great comment 💯

TBH, the biggest clue to Haschwalth is that it was a fight where literally everything Ishida did just broke against Ichigo's skin and reiatsu, barely leaving a mark, Ichigo completely overwhelmed his ultimate attack, and *then* at the end he's suddenly able to shoot him? *I* would be asking for the Autopsy after that before I'd believe he was dead.

I love that the construct Uryu made around Ichigo exploded into the shape of a Quincy Cross

I'm not 100% sure Ichigo has that level of insight. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but he's always been more of a punch first, ask later mentality.
I like the implication from Lille Barro that because of how the Soul Palace has super dense reishi that is hard even for Quincy's to form platforms on, something that sends you downwards like Ganju's Seppa is actually threatening and they had to use Vollstandig to ascend out of it lmao
That moment when Uryu saw Ichigo use Blut and realize he also is a quincy...was crazy good
That was an insane moment.
I love how obvious it is how much stronger Ichigo is than everyone and that he sandbagged hard against Uryu. And Uryu knew Ichigo would never go hard and was able to use that to strengthen his facade. The fight choreography is insanely good.
Uryu was holding back too with not using his schrift considering all the arrows he could make some nasty combos like Todo.
The thing is though that doesn’t make Uryu any weaker. The fact that he blew a hole through Ichigo speaks in itself how powerful he’s grown.
there is even a subtle hint to it in the episode where ichigo uses blut to defend himself instead of hierro, considering that ichigo at this point must be aware how dangerous hollow reiyatsu is to the quincy, he would be using his hollow powers more if he really wanted to kill uryu here.

For the longest time we've only experienced anything Quincy through Uryu and some of his techniques gained popularity like Licht Regen, so I think it's really creative that his Volstandig is completely themed around arrows and his control over them because unlike other Quincies that's how Uryu primarily fought and I love how they work it's a mini Senbonzakura for offense and Defense and Uryu even has another technique when in Volstandig

I appreciate we're getting lots of extra shots of Orihime in her dress.

This might be the best episode yet in the entire tybw both narratively and choreography wise🔥🔥
only thing that bummed me out was I wanted that shot of Yhwach saying he will absorb the soul king. you know that panel where he's holding a weak mimihagi in his hand saying like "Soul King will be absorbed by me" or something
@FGame2star yeah. And he has the darkness seeping over half his face. Oh well. This version is very good too. Most of the time was spent fighting Mimihagi instead of devouring the sk
we've been blessed with excellent Ichigo's dual wielding choreo from these episodes. LOVE seeing how he uses both Zanpakuto. Man this is too awesome.
@@alkalostrytoart1024 same but Ishidas techniques were way cooler icl
@@kakashihatake1029 yeah to me that was one of the most shocking panels when the manga came out, I was like "he's going to ABSORB GOD??!!!!!"
Remember guys, Chad could've killed Gerard but he didn't want to otherwise the story would end too quickly.
14:35 that "WHAT!?" encapsulates the whole episode masterfully!
Fully convinced ichigo was going to activate his bankai before he was shot down by Ishida. Was an amazing episode and probably the best so far this season.
Idk, dude was really hesitant about killing Uryu. Even the Jujisho was made to miss on purpose. But hey, Uryu plays the bad guy part really well.
@@djaxeman2424 Yh I know he was hesitant but the pose he held was him putting his two swords together which makes his bankai.
Me too
Same! He looked like he was going into the pose for it but it just turned out to be him probably going for another getsuga
@@thealmighty700 it wasn't, in Manga he puts his sword perpendicular while here he was crossing, probably was about to fire another serious getsuga jujisho
11:04 I feel like Ganju MAY have forgotten that they could fly at that moment.
When he transformed the cross absorbed reishi like Sclaveray, so i think he used both at the same time without even calling both names, i think this shows his inexpensive since Old Man Zangetsu told us that a named attack (move in this case) is stronger that a nameless one.
Jesus. This episode ate and left no FUCKING crumbs. Absolute peak.
Keep that mind in uncharted territory.
I love the Ichigo vs Uryu fight. Looks beautiful, made Uryu look great, but also still sold that Ichigo was stronger, losing because he wasn't resolved rather then because he was weaker.
Uryu currently>>>>>ichigo(no diff)
@@nightmareofblindfansandhaters If you're delusional I suppose.
@@nightmareofblindfansandhaters ichigo didnt even use bankai
uryu has more hax. ichigo has more raw strength
Quincy Senbonzakura is the name of Uryu’s Voll Stern Dich… I refused to take any other name for it.
Senbonzakura Quincyoshi
It is Vollständig....it's German for whole, final or complete
@Martin-zd8eb the joke was that it's similar to byakuya's zanpakuto
He deserves something more original ngl 😄
@@Martin-zd8eb vollstandig and voll stern dich are both acceptable at this point. vollstandig was the correct one for the longest time just because thats how a lot of the translations of the manga referred to it, but now almost every translation of the anime uses voll stern dich. hell, even tommo calls it the latter now
I love this episode. It gave us more Ishida than the entire manga did. Here’s hoping we can get more scenes like this
this makes me infinitely more excited for Cour 4. Cour 4 literally has potential to be some of the greatest anime of all time.
We definitely gonna get some serious glazing of jugram and that's what I'm hyped for the most. Dude was a letdown in the manga

"I can't even imagine Chad losing" - Gremmy "V" the Visionary
And if you are one those people who think ichigo missed uryu on purpose then you should know that the truth is :
Ichigo can't control the direction anymore once he throws it.
@@SalvadorAngel-h3uPeople are still cope hard about Uryu's power LOL
Best Episode of part 3
and let me doubt... of the entire TYBW yet.
Orihime blocked a hit from Gerard! My flabber has been gasted
Hope there's more to add to your point.
Was she not blocking attacks from Soul King Yhwach in the manga? A regular attack from Gerard shouldn't really be surprising lol
thats not even the biggest feat she did😘
I specifically love the slight wincing in Uryuu's eyes when he was about to shoot that last shot.
He knows, he *had to do it.*
MAN, I love this series more than I imagined I would.
the real reaction i was waiting for LMAO
I just want to say that seeing you watching and reacting with enormous passion makes me really happy
That song playing during the ichigo and uryu fight, incredible. 1106 tybw ch united
I think this is Ichigo's third new fight this arc? Simply awesome.
Ichigo was about to bust out his Bankai against Uryu if Uryu didn’t shoot him in time, crazy 😭
It's so fun watching and thinking 'man, Tommo is gonna go ABSOLUTELY MENTAL'
So Ichigo now has enough experience with jujisho to stop a major attack while missing the person without yelling at them to dodge and calling them an idiot.
Not Missing him. Uryu reversed his position with the Jujisho after seeing Jujisho overpowering his own attack. Think of the fight against Senjumaru.

I wasn't expecting Uryu's Volstandig at all or him killing Ichigo
I still feel like Uryu's is incomplete because of how it activated, the Reishi wasn't as complete so I feel like we'll 100% see it again in this or the next cour maybe with the Halo and it's name reveal (probably against Haschwalth now that I'm thinking about it)
He didn't kill on purpose, just seriously injured him.

Bro you took forever! I have been waiting for you since 1pm 😂
Bruh he is getting bullying at start and got saved his ass due to blut vene
Soul king body looks really weird and creepy. Hollow on the inside? They also made him an eunuch. Brutal.
I read somewhere someone saying chad is the soul King's balls lmao
Aizen is the soul kings D
It's been a long while since I've watched a piece of media that it took me a full day to recover from. This episode was beyond amazing!
Uryu stock is on the all time HIGH
One of the details I like is that Uyru's Volstandig doesn't have a halo. That seems like some amazing foreshadowing, along with the title. Amongst all the other foreshadowing that is subtly done.
Us Uryu fans are eating good!
It looks like when Uryu Released his Vollstandig, the arrows circled around him in a halo pattern! Not an actual halo, but it still looks cool
Bleach's animation, story telling and music combine for perfection
Your reaction to when ichigo got shot in the end... IS THE SAME AS HOW I REACTED 🤣🤣
Uryu's betrayal is done masterfully. He is so much more brutal and serious than in the manga and blowing a hole in Ichigo is definetly enough to make no Schutzstaffel member doubt him.
But when you look at it closer, there are so many small details that give away Uryu's true motive:
-The fact that he saw Ichigo survive a hole in his chest and knowing that Hime is there, both of those facts allow him to end Ichigo this brutally.
Yoruiichi: breaks concentration from an arrow.
Haganezuka: pssh rookie
12:19 Uryu's Vollstandïg seems like an ironic call back to his fight Jirōbō Ikkanzaka, with the feathers flitting about him similar to Jirōbō's shikai.
He finally embraced being the Kamaitachi!!
@@ThermiteKitty 😆😆😆Yep, he just did it better.
