This is what horsemanship is all about. Being able to earn the trust of a frightened and scared animal and turn it into something truly amazing. This is truly beautiful
Viola old comment ik but if you were talking about the spurs-if used correctly they dont harm the horse and instead can give clearer signals/cues bc theyre thinner than your lower leg.
I've never seen a domestic horse stop on a dime without stepping slightly or sliding forward like this mustang did!... very athletic responses, I was in AWE! To go from being wild to performing an amazing routine completely out of his normal environment in a loud crowd and music, and an enormous arena & learning everything from scratch in just over 4 months is absolutely a miracle... such is a bond of trust of safety & of patient love.. This was absolutely beautiful in so many aspects to witness... God bless her for adopting a beautiful, once roaming free Mustang, possibly destined for slaughter (which angers me), instead of purchasing a domestic horse... giving the Mustang his LIFE back... I strongly feel that if a Mustang isn't adopted, that crazy inhumane and unjustified 3rd strike...like the horse is a crime, that Mustang should be returned to a protected habitate to roam FREE once more... it's their God given right & we, humans, should respect that!...As I watched him run... I imagined him without a rider, running wild & free... a beautiful Mustang, yes... a Cinderella story from destitute & literally being rescued by a beautiful Soul who believed in him...🦋
What I heard about mustang makeover is that they do this because the habitat where they live in is not capable of providing enough food and water to keep all the horses alive and there are too many horses in the wild for people to feed them so they founded mustang makeover to give them a second chance or else many of them would be already dead ( though I don't know if this is related to mustang makeover or if this is another program)
I am so glad I got to see this performance in person. Absolutely beautiful display of the bond between man and animal. Just lovely Madison! So glad you got to keep her!

I'm very much all about avoiding the use of force on animals, and I can say that people dismissing this incredible performance because of the very presence of spurs are lacking in reason. She communicates with the horse via gentle touch. I don't see her kicking the horse or even using the spurs much at all. I have to wonder how many people criticising the spurs have put several times as much pressure on a horse by squeezing/kicking, just not using spurs. I'm sorry, but it makes no sense. I truly believe the horse is far more comfortable with her occasional use of the spurs than pretty much any horse is with a piece of metal in its mouth the entire time it is being ridden. I'm not calling bits evil or anything, I understand why they are used. I'm just pointing out that you can't be hurt by something that barely touches you...so if you think her spurs are cruel, surely bits are, also? And how many critics commenting here use bits...?
@@cassofstupidity5168 The BLM rounds up Mustangs off the range to control the herd population. These Mustangs are in holding and need homes. Used correctly Spurs are a training and riding aid . They are only cruel when poeple.uae them with out knowing how .and they are still not sharp .and out of darkness would you rather see them slaughtered using cruel practices.
spurs are a great training aid if used right but people just automatically diss them because some people can’t use them correctly. i have short legs and my horses where much better + happier when i rode with spurs. same with whips/crops. they aren’t for beating the horse to go fast- it’s and extension of your arm a or leg. Bits are really controversial. I use them because that’s what works best and have never caused any of my horses problems. honestly the most problems i have had is bitless horses being really heavy in their heads and not engaging their hind end.
Honestly! I hate riding without spurs, I can give a good kick, but squeezing tight enough for a response is tough, and it just feels like too much to put on an animals side when i can easily do the same with a simple tap
Love the team work and trust the horse has in you, everyone commenting about the spurs they are not hurting the horse, she has them on because it's easier that way when she's bareback and no bridle, she's using them properly so it shouldn't hurt the mustang
God Bless you for all that you did to help this Beautiful Majestic Creature...you can see the trust and the love that you share...very beautiful and very touching performance
Was having a rough day and decided to watch this to cheer me up. I'm so impressed with this young lady and horse. What a beautiful pair they make. Chokes me up every time.
Not even halfway through this yet, and I'm already crying. The song this lady chose to do as a first performance with this horse was an amazing choice. I love it.
This a beautiful performance, I can’t believe she was able to do this with a once wild mustang This is and old post, but the comments about spurs bother me. If she’s completely tackless, do you really think she’s using the harshest spurs ever? I only use spurs sometimes, and I roll them up my hand and arm with the same pressure I use on my horse, and if anything it’s a massage, really not painful at all. They are an extension of her leg, to make it look like she’s not doing anything. Thank you for reading
Why are people flipping out by spurs? Why can’t everyone face the fact that woah this mustang used to be wild af and now look. She’s doing amazing tricks TACKLESS. This is so cute and I’m happy to see someone not give up.
Heathers Life well she is still using spurs I mean she doesn't NEEED them and it shouldn't be used they stab the horse but yes it was a beautiful performance
Thank you for saving a Mustang. They are amazing horses, I hope more people realize that soon as they are lingering in holding pens.. I love my Mustang, Last Chance. She saved my daughter from a rogue cow.
There is no such thing as wild geldings. There are wild stallions though. All male horses are born as stallions, but if humans want to, they can 'geld' the horse so he will be less aggressive/excited and he cannot make foals. Maybe you already know this, but anyways... This mustang in the video is a mare.
So beautiful!!! Thank you Mustang Maddie for being such a wonderful advocate for the wild horses. I have five mustangs that I’ve adopted and they are the best part of my life!! It’s an experience like no other!!!!! May God bless!!!
Reminds me of my mustangs I rescued them from an illegal slaughterhouse... they are now at least 17+ years old and have 2 year olds ride them that’s how tame they are... I never used a bit or spur on them and trained them off love and trust they are the sweetest and come running when someone comes to the gate... this video also shows that no matter the age, breed or background any horse can change with any amount of love

I am learning horsemanship and trust me it is not easy , I’m working with a beautiful horse that used to be in depression ever since I started learning the Mare was getting happier . So now I see and visit also train with that mare almost every single day . This performance is so heart warming ! I love it .
I love watching horse videos I've always wanted a horse I said my parents and they finally let me have horse riding lessons I don't think I'm going to get a horse anytime soon I love watching horse videos so cute especially horse tiktoks
This reminds me so much of Heartland Amy + Spartan 4 Liiiife For those of u who don’t know: Amy and her mom were rescuing Spartan from his abuser and the truck went over the ledge. Amy’s mum died and Spartan was badly injured and traumatised therefore was unrideable. Amy put her faith into Spartan and had him trained in about a year. Maddy, I too love Mustangs and have adopted three beautiful ones. We live in Ridgway, CO and am looking forward to your Norwood training clinic in June. My black mustang adopted from a Nevada herd near Battle Mountain, was prison trained in Canon City, using the Anderson method. He spooks at everything! And he really hates gates, maybe PTSD from his round up. Shadow is the best horse ever, I just wish he would not spook all the time. Looking forward to your stay in Ridgway this summer. I live on Loghill and pasture them up here during winter, and they stay at Eagle Hill Ranch at pasture during summer. Teri
Teri Williams Ask Rick Gore/think like a horse he has a mustang called Mr. Tanner. He doesn't like how Clint Anderson trains horses either. I love to watch Rick Gore's videos because he understands horses and he is funny to listen to.
You are an absolutely amazing women watching this I was just wowed so much it's so beautiful the way you believed in this horse and earned her trust when no one else could. I have watched this video so many times and everytime I'm just amazed. I hope one day I can be half as good as you with horsemanship. You are truely incredible and very talented.
I don't get why everyone is complaining about the spurs, but doesn't see that Amira is not running clearly. Canter is supposed to be a three-beat gait... The trot is also very stiff and the horse is not stepping under it's center. I guess she has serious pain in her back and should definitely not be ridden without a saddle. A saddle is not harming a horse. When it fits properly (which it always should) it's spreading the weight of the rider and protecting the horseback from the rider bumping into the back. Maddy definitely is a good rider, but during the sliding stops she is bumping into the back.
this is spectacular!!! you can do anything with a horse even without a bit. you don't need a bit to control a horse, its all about partnering and pressure and release of pressure. keep up the amazing work! :)
What a fantastic horse woman! You truly inspired so many people and help hundreds of mustangs. We have recently started sharing our work at liberty with so called "Problem horses" on youtube as well; it is a fantastic way to help horse owners all over the world to see different ways of horse training :)
Everyone hating her for spurs. Calm down. The horse was WILD. AND IN 126 days she tamed her to the point of this. If there was a girl at your barn who walked by you with spurs, are you gonna say "nice spurs" with an eye roll. Not you not. Your saying it here because your a shallow person who can congratulate her on her work.
you do realize its population control right? theres to many mustangs, thats the only reason theyre being adopted out. you're precious horse was once a wild breed before it was domesticated, so shut up unless you actually know what you're talking about.
MaddieTheEnglishRider. Yes, I would eye roll and tell her how I feel. I train with only positive reinforcement. If an animal has to be physical, harshly corrected then you are asking too much of him. I bet if she wouldn't have tried to show off and rush into taming her then she wouldn't need spurs.
Sometimes people use spurs because the horse responds better by a more focused cue. Personally I don't like using spurs, if I use them on the horses I ride then I'd be bucked to high heaven, but sometimes, for things like barrels or drill, we use bumper spurs to more accurately cue for turns. spurs are meant to roll on the horses side, not jab. My trainer used to say "Spurs are like any other piece of tack, it is a tool not a weapon. Treat it as such." because even a halter, lead, hackamore, etc. can be used harshly. If that makes sense.
Having an Aussie Brumby of my own, it truely is a dream come true training and earninh the trust in her. Stunning performance, and something id consider doing one day to try snd help wild horses lile my girl, find their forever home.
Oh Maddy I cried all the way through your Video! My Heart once again is Touched by the Gift God has given to YOU Sweet Girl 💗🐴🕊 I speak much Love back to YOU 💗💗💗 this is Laura , Jesus’s Girl 💜
Why do people have to find the bad thing in this you truly do amazing things keep going for it don’t listen to them there just jealous this is truly amazing thank you for this really it was amazing to watch I loved it oh and also people spurs are a reinforcement and she is using them like that she is using them properly don’t list to those people they are just jealous of what an amazing job you did!
This is genuinely impressive, especially considering some horses who have been ridden for years aren't even this responsive and this horse was only trained for a couple of months. wow
I want to adopt so much! My goal would be to adopt my own mustang while I still have the strenght and gift to train. At the very least, I'd hope to have my own property large enough to adopt one or two wild mustangs, and/or a rescued Friesan. I'd also be happy with a Chestnut, Quarter/Arab mix (to remind me of my last mare).
This is what horsemanship is all about. Being able to earn the trust of a frightened and scared animal and turn it into something truly amazing. This is truly beautiful
And the rider’s spurs never touched the mustang!
And what about a saddle to protect the horses spine?
It’s hard to watch and remain dry eyed
She brought me to tears. You can see her kindness and love for the horse. It was beautiful 👸🏼🐴🇺🇸💋
Kitty Kitty Meow Meow same 😍🐎
Djk34😍💖💝 is single how old you are
This horse has changed from being scared to being trained and amazing
This girl is incredible for what she believed in
Maybe she believed but look at her heels
So sad for every horse's eyes tears come in there eyes they sit on their back and ride might be legs hurts to much.

Absolutely beautiful and thank you ❤️❤️
Tremendous job training the wild mustang. 👏
So amazing ❤️
HER HAND'S ARE THE MANE PLAYER'S, MAGNIFICO, MAXXAUS.
Beautiful!!!
This is genuinely impressive, especially considering some horses who have been ridden for years aren't even this responsive and this horse was only trained for a couple of months. wow
And, she trained the mustang completly tackless from the beginning!
Wow😍 love it👍❤️
This is soo cute!!❤❤
