I see some kids asking if their college is private or public. This is very basic level of research which you guys should do instead of asking anyone. If you are planning to go to Canada then this is the right time to get independent from now onwards and do your best research. All the best

There are many websites and wiki pages which states if a college is private or public. Furthermore, apply to the main campuses and stop applying to small campus based in Toronto and big places. Those are just to lure kids in their college and partnered with private institutions. The immigration will only become more stricter in coming years so apply to a college wherein you know your future is secure. If you are not sure that the college is private or public which is very basic then it's a risk you are taking with your career and hard earned money.
but why is it necessary to know if the college/University is public or private? does it affect PGWP visa or something? i've done plenty of research but i've no clue regarding why knowing the ownership of institution is important!!

Yes for graduate level and post graduate certificates the pgwp is equal to 3 years but what about the length of pgwp for certificate programs done after 12th like PSW, etc?
I know 100s of situations where spouses of a study permit holder get hastle free work permit, and become PR before the student even finishes the program. I personally feel is unfair for unmarried students who come here work hard to finish their program for two years and finish their study and work almost 2 more years to get a job and then secure PR.
The journey for married vs unmarried students is unfair. I understand you can't leave your spouse and kids behind but it shouldn't make things unfair for other unmarried students who come year to make their Canadian dream true, just like students with spouses.

Hello sir. I'm having a struggle with this new update. I got an admission for the May intake at Conestoga College in Ontario for a two-year diploma program. School resumes on May 6th, and I am not sure if I can wait until March 31st, which is the deadline given to all provinces to work things out. before applying for a visa because I need to be in the country by April for the two-week orientation; waiting until March to apply for provisional attestation will jeopardize everything, particularly since I have already paid fees and GIC.

Hi Harry, I am enrolled in a 1 year College Graduate Certificate. The language on the website says "Graduates of master's and OTHER SHORT GRADUATE-LEVEL PROGRAMS will be soon be eligible to apply for a 3-year work permit". Will I be eligible for the 3 year PGWP?

Who doesn’t need an attestation letter ?
You do not need an attestation letter when applying for a study permit if you’re a student applying for a Masters, PhD or other post-graduate program.

@@sufyanmukri9610 you need to check IRCC website, is clearly mentioned that masters, PhD and Post graduate programs will not need attestation letter. Attestation letter is required only for those who are applying for undergrad
i just got accepted into seneca's vfx program for september 2024 intake. it's a 1 year program. will i be affected in anyway (other than the student visa cap)? also will i be eligible for 3 year PGWP?
if seneca college is public college and you are doing 1 year program then you will get 1 year PGWP. for 3 year PGWP you will need to study for atleast two years.

You can get it but it only depends upon the type of college and university you are opting for. Only PUBLIC COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES are legible. Aap DLI list of institutions check kar skte ho Canada ki website pe.

Private institution students will not get an open work permit after graduation. You mean only private colleges or private universities also?
only public institutions will be eligible for pgwp who are in DLI list. check IRCC for DLI list

Mine is loyalist college but Toronto campus is public private partnership one which is dli approved but now it will also be affected .

I have a query. My husband is on a closed work permit in alberta after receiving lmia. I recieved my spouse open work permit. I am also working in alberta since 8 months. We will apply for pnp under Alberta Opportunity stream after one year job experience of husband. If husband who is the primary applicant continues working in Alberta. I want to ask can I (Spouse) change my province and shift to British Columbia for new job. Will it in any way effect our application when we apply for pnp in Alberta.

From Canadian Immigration website: Graduates of master’s and other short graduate-level programs will soon be eligible to apply for a 3-year work permit. Under current criteria, the length of a postgraduation work permit is based solely on the length of an individual’s study program, hindering master’s graduates by limiting the amount of time they have to gain work experience and potentially transition to permanent residence.
In the weeks ahead, open work permits will only be available to spouses of international students in master’s and doctoral programs. The spouses of international students in other levels of study, including undergraduate and college programs, will no longer be eligible.

I applied in western community college, it is a private college but provide pgwp in bachelors in hospitality management only and i enrolled in this degree, and i have done my biometrics. now i am waiting for my visa response and my intake is september. could you please tell me i am eligible for pgwp . I think you will get your PGWP as your college is not in licensing agreement with a public college... Still would advise you to research more or discuss with college authorities...

University is broken into three semesters. Fall (September to December) Spring (January to April) Summer (May-August). Summer intake offers have already been sent out. Next intake would be for September 2024 with offers already being sent out for admissions. There may still be room to apply to your chosen program depending on the application deadlines.

Government should close down 50% of private colleges, as some are perceived as fraudulent operations exploiting their own community members. It's should proposed that most private schools should enroll at least 75% local students and cap international students at 25%. Additionally, it's should recommended that international students be prohibited from working until their third year, to prioritize employment opportunities for local students. Furthermore, it's should proposed that wages for international students be higher, incentivizing companies to hire locals first. The primary reason for international students to come to Canada should be to study 4 year course (not 2 year). Only upon completion of their studies should they be eligible for a work permit and begin contributing to the workforce or go back home. Until then, work opportunities for international students should be restricted.
