I disagree on Stardew Valley's graphic. Stardew Valley's graphic is gorgeous. i was a bit shocked... The pixel art style from SV is farrrrr more superior than other games that use the similar style in my opinion. It captures the mood so well and since it is not 3d game it is unfair to compete with planet zoo for example. Though i like SV style better than My Time in Portia or Story of Season. Also knowing that SV was made by only one person, from game mechanic, art, and music... it is such a masterpiece that it became zeitgeist of farming sims

Planet Coaster is actually my #1 played steam game. I have almost 3K hours in it lol, but I do agree with you that it is overwhelming and not for everyone.
Everytime I start a new park, it literally takes me months for it to look nice and somewhat realistic. However, the complexity is why I like it so much.

I opened up the video and thought, "He probably won't cover My Time at Portia or My Time at Sandrock." So happy to be proven wrong. Great games! I like the switch from focus on farming (though you can still farm) to building ever more complex things to improve the world.

I really like simulation games too, and it was great seeing you branch out a little bit and do a non sims video.
Have you tried the Rune Factory games? I really like it since it mixes farming and life simulation aspects with combat and fantasy. The humour, dialog and characters of the games are charming and the crafting, cooking, fishing and farming system are good enough. I really recommend it since even if Story of Seasons games haven't really improved a lot over time Rune Factory has developed and added several improvements to the formula. The bad thing is that the last Rune Factory, Rune Factory 5, became 3D and the developers didn't really optimize the game engine and game design and didn't improve previous titles' flaws at all. But it is pretty fun still.

      @X2RGD01 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@kyhoney my favourite Rune Factory is also Rune Factory 4! I believe that it is the one that has the best characters (they say a different thing every day), best and longest story, the best town (everything is close together so you can travel to any part of town really easily), the best characters from previous games (Barrett actually does something during the first part of the story)... I also liked the fact that you can disable festivals or bring more than one companion to battles. The dates were really fun, and the reversal confessions too. Over all RF4 is a great game.

On the other hand, I wish I played Stardew Valley for more to 10 minutes but every time I get headache for a reason I don't know, like my eyes and head start to hurt so bad 😭. The planet rollercoaster/zoo one is so true, like why is the game so overwhelming for new players

Omg YES, My Time at Portia is so fricking good!
I was so happy I found it. I was looking for cheap games and got it for under £10 on the Nintendo store when it was on sale. For the price it is *so* worth it. It has so much in the game e.g. farming, fighting, good lore, relationship aspects, house decor and crafting etc. (And much more I just can't list em all)
It's insane that an indie game managed to put *so* much in when the game is so cheap. Just goes to show all the subpar games from big companies *cough* sims 4 *cough* cannot be excused. If a smaller team with a smaller budget can release such a well developed game, there is no reason whatsoever for the Sims 4 being what it is.
Just because games are polished looking does not mean they are good. If the game play is lacking no amount of prettiness will hide that.

I've been trying to find more good simulation games to play myself and have played most of the games you mentioned already. I'm waiting for Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life to come out which I noticed you used the footage for when you were talking about Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral town. I recommend Wylde Flowers. I play it on my ipad with apple arcade, but it is available on steam for PC. The game has a similar feel to Stardew Valley, but is more quest focused. There's a little bit of mystery going on that is fun to figure out. You can't customize your character. I don't mind that, but I know some people do. There are romance options too. The story spans a year, but you control the change of seasons. Also, in a recent update, they've made it so you can keep playing after the story ends. I had a lot of fun with it.

Don't even get me started on what's happening with the Sims 3, I literally tried to play it just now. Only to find out all my installed content was gone, and it wasn't in the download spot either.
I had to find my way back to the crusty Sims 3 website (that has clearly been abandoned) log back into my account and now I need to manually install every little item I bought on the Sims 3 store because EA did not transfer this information over when it locked all sims games in its trashy software.
I calculated and saw I had spent a good £150 on extra Sims 3 store content a decade ago, ain't no way I'm letting EA make me lose that money...

You should try Wylde Flowers! Farming sim with a witchy twist, a great story and characters, gorgeous visuals, fully voice acted. I got it when it first came out, played it through and loved it. Since then, the devs have released so many free updates that when I played it through a second time, I found they'd essentially doubled the content! It's made by an indie company but the people who developed it previously worked on the Sims, and it does have a bit of a Sims feel to it sometimes.

e.g. if I like a game, I'm addicted to it for weeks and months and then one day I got tired of it and don't play it anymore for a long time; Planet Coaster is a challenging game because there's no easy way to decorate things nicely and quickly, and the learning curve to learn how to quick keys work to adjust things takes so much time and effort!

Love My Time at Portia but waiting on Sandrock to come out of early access. Stardew Valley is fun too. I don’t mind it’s graphics as it’s a fun game and as an older player I grew up with this art style on early consoles. I got New Horizons during the pandemic and it was fun, but after you do everything you just want to move on to something else. It should be noted in Cities though that dlc is not required to play base game. Iirc dlc only adds micromanagement to things already included in base game. Some of it is music and content creator packs as well. Look forward to Cities 2 coming out.
Anyway, would love to see your style of gameplay on some of these games. I find it very entertaining.

Anyway they're really fun games! Would love to see your energy playing expert mode during a storm trying to keep all dinosaurs contained 😂

I like how if you wanted to you can download mods to make it more “adult” but the regular game is more easy going and friendly. Like i personally dont want real life health problems or popularity systems etc. However I do think they can do WAY more to make the game more fun while still being family friendly. They focus too much on building and less on the actual gameplay

I hope when you get some time to look up another youtuber called gamerzakh he is absolutely a diamond in the rough, and I admire his opinions when it comes to stimulation games.
You should check him out he is definitely an expert on the genre and knows literally tons of stimulation/surivial games.

I don’t know about quality necessarily, but if you’re looking for a laugh with friends - or even something you can let your friend’s six year old play around in with you - I do enjoy Totally Reliable Delivery Service for open world ridiculousness. Granted, I don’t play seriously to complete deliveries while the six year old is playing too, but you don’t really need to. You could just play a car soccer game or steal a boat…

i was so underwhelmed with disney dreamlight valley! i can't name a lot of things i like about it tbh and i totally abandoned it with zero interest to pick it back up.

I think the problem with dreamlight Valley is that they made it early release while they should've added a lot more to the game instead of updating very little content every 2 to 3 months

Before you say Stardew valley has a bad art style, remember, one guy made it over the course of ten years. And he did the coding and everything.

For simulation games I personally enjoy Elnea Kingdom. Mobile life simulator with actually pretty cools tuff if you don't mind grinding but it can feel a bit boring if you're not using it to kill time sadly, but at least it's free (well msot of it)

I personally like the more casual farming games like sv and sos so friends of mineral is what I'm in love with so far

  • @leahwilton785

I couldnt get into planet zoo. I just found the UI really challenging to navigate and I never really felt like I got the flow of things. I play other complicated games like Cities:Skylines, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and Civ 6 so I'm not sure what made this one such a struggle but I just couldnt the hang of things.
I'm also going to gently push back against you saying the Sims 4 is targeting Gen Z, but this game isnt for kids. I'm 23, and I'm a gen Z. I do think there is appeal among young adults for this type of game.

Animal crossing is amazing but the fact that Nintendo abandoned it makes me sad. I wish I could play more planet zoo, but I get so overwhelmed I have such a hard time building anything on it. The micromanaging is annoying.
