    Rest in Peace, Dr. Sue Othmer. Thank you for your contributions to the field.

    The Othmer Method has come a long way since this video was posted. I have been using it because I was overstimulated and agitated by NeurOptimal, another form of neurofeedback I tried. But I could tell something powerful was happening.
    So I switched to Othmer, which operates at a much lower frequency than most neurofeedback sessions and penetrates into the deep structures of the brain where most of our problems originate. It also locks into deep, primordial brain rhythms. So far I am only seven sessions in, but it looks like this is really going to help me.
    And other powerful brain training systems are out there in 2020. Rich opportunities for healing and flourishing that we never had before. Explore!

      Have you been doing well with more sessions?

      I had a similar problem with Neuroptimal ... it was so stimulating that it was scary, also increased my tinnitus which took almost a month to settle back to baseline. I had only one session. Was lucky to find a local Othmer practitioner. Six sessions in with the Othmer, doing pretty well.

    I am just amazed on how the brain works! It is impressive how the neurons work together and transmit information from one to the other and watching how just images can change patterns in the behavior of the brain is just amazing! Neurofeedback is truly amazing! I myself suffer from headaches and migraines quite often so I will be looking for this kind of treatment.

    This is indeed good neurotherapy. I experiment this myself. It helped me to control my depression, my anxiety and my sleep disorders.
    The purpose consists of regulating the brain waves. I had sessions for a few years in psychotherapy.

    Neurofeedback has changed my Life in such a positive way. I operate at new heights of awareness, comprehension and coherancy --great focus, anxiety GONE all my interactions and experiences are at heigtened levels. it's very real its equally powerful and everyone can benefit on some level my guess is even you mr Linusof90 - its masterful and much more powerful than hocus pocus believe me.

    Thank you for ur response. Incidentally there is a public talk on neurofeedback in Singapore this week. I have contacted the organiser for next month's session. I am very keen to understand how this will help my son. I have lost hope that both the neurologist n opthalmologist would be able to do anything else for him.

    I've had post-concussion headache from a mild TBI almost 1 year ago. And tooth nerve pain & a host of other injuries that don't heal well from a messed-up brain.
    I've tried crappy meds like Naproxen, accupuncture, and chiro so far.
    I'm on the fence here after reading the comments.
    Don't want to break the bank on sanke oil.
    I want to heal. Badly.
    Thanks for posting this vid!

    is it possible to self administer the treatment?

  • @lFlash4
    @lFlash4 15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well i used to go to one and it was working but extremely expensive and the boss head over there was sneaky about letting out secrets of it. So I've been looking for good deals online for the equipment and software but still can't find any manuals on how to use it, when to change the protocols and what not, so I've been using a set of biannual entrainment CDs titled equisync from EOC Institute. Do you know how they compare to neurofeedback?
    Also know of any online manuals on the knowhow of this?

    I'm amazed by how many people who have not experienced neurofeedback and at the same time so vocal about it's ineffectiveness! It seems only in the "alternative" medical realms people are so freely negative about possible treatments. When a surgery has a 50:50 success rate and isn't successful no one seems to scream and shout that the surgery was snake oil and ineffective.! They just say "they gave it their best shot or it just didn't work, surgeon did the best they could".

    @othmerk do you mean lower frequencies (sorry I don't really understand the science behind all this very well!)? My neurofeedback therapist/practitioner told me she got some "new software" a week ago that has lower frequencies and should help me more.

    My 11-year old son was diagnosed as having mild cerebral palsy when he was 1. 3 years ago, he had stroke. He's left brain is "dead" and he also lost his vision, mobility and speech. I would like to know if neurofeedback can help him to gain his vision. Thank you!

    does this work for social anxiety disorder? There are quite a few negative reviews at revolution health (a lot of positive ones too). But I'm worried because I've done 13 half hour sessions and notice no difference.

    There's only 1 practitioner that I know of in middle Tn. There was another 1, but he went out of business, & dumb NPR radio was still advertising for them even though they'd been out of business for months.

    @othmerk hey, well it's been a while now and it hasn't helped at all. My therapist/practioner says she thinks it might have stopped working because I spend a lot of time on the computer... does that make any sense at all? I spend most of my time watching stand up comedy on my computer/TV (as sad as that sounds, it keeps my mind distracted from my mental state)... could that really stop neurofeedback from working?
    I hesitate to go back because I don't want to get my hopes crushed yet AGAIN!

  • @ALJR223
    @ALJR223 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @K0lsyr4 You really don't understand much beyond how your own brain works. For a person like myself, I could jump in and meet people over and over again. I've done it. It doesn't change how my brain works. It doesn't change my interest level, or energy level. And some kinds of social anxiety are stemmed from the fact that the person knows how they are, and what they bring to the table, so why bother? This is where things like counseling, antidepressants and neurofeedback come into play.

      I know it's been over a year, but did you happen to find any contradicting evidence? I'm a recent neuro graduate and honestly NFT seems too good to be true (in the best sense of the phrase)
      the only criticism I've heard so far is its limited implications in physical diseases of the brain such as alzheimers, etc. as opposed to how effective it is for psychiatric disorders (add, autism spectrum, depression) which are generally manageable at best with pharmaceutical interventions.

    • @leeisenberg
      @leeisenberg 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I have not learned anything new in the field. I'd love to learn more, something new! I think we have 2 practitioners that I know of in my local side of Nashville; 1 lady practices out of her home, & there's another place in Brentwood that has a commercial location.

    @K0lsyr4 ya thats it but I've since learned it's doesn't have any sort of physical or "traditional" psychological cause.
    I spent a year in California going out with a friend to San Francisco clubs flirting it up with the hottest girls in Northern California (I'm 22, this was about a year and half ago) 3-4 nights a week. I've already tried the jump in water thing haha. I had plenty of successes, and plenty of bloweouts, but it didn't help at all. Doesnt matter though I've found the cure.

    I'm not very impressed by testimony from someone who makes a living from neurofeedback. I'd rather hear from someone impartial.

    • @othmerk
      @othmerk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll find lots of videos on this channel of clients talking honestly with nothing to gain personally. But, in the end, people should probably hear the opinions outside of the TH-cam lens. And also keep in mind that there are lots of different types of neurofeedback and different types of providers.

    • @brandonflorida1092
      @brandonflorida1092 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@othmerk I just saw a video in which someone described his own paper which found that neurofeedback applied to children with ADHD did effect an improvement but that the control group showed the same improvement.

    • @othmerk
      @othmerk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't the control group get a stimulant medication like Ritalin? Would be impressive to match a stimulant.

    • @brandonflorida1092
      @brandonflorida1092 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@othmerk I don't think so. The control group was monitored very, very carefully for any possible confounding factors and that would have been a huge one.

    • @othmerk
      @othmerk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      so, now I'm just curious. If a control group showed "the same improvement" then what were they (not) doing that gave them those improvements? Why did they improve? We should research those kids! Sounds like something worth investigating. That said, there have been a lot of studies where people think they are doing an inert form of neurofeedback and comparing it to a "real" form. And then both groups get better. And, what that proves to me is that what they thought was inert was more active than they knew.
