Unpopular opinion but people really be on here making bad content blaming youtube for hating small content creators. I'm by no means an expert content creator but be honest with yourself, give yourself time to improve and always try to learn something new. I spent the last few months on TH-cam really just trying to focus on making the best content I can. Now im really starting to see the growth I wanted in the beginning.
Hi Brian, this has been something I've been wondering about. I know most TH-camrs that have successful channels say focus on thumbnails and good editing skills. But I have seen many channels with half a million subscribers that put no effort what so ever in creating their videos and thousands of views on their videos. This proves if your content is informative and entertaining people will watch your videos no matter what. Thank you Brian for answering this question for me.
Can't really say reaching the 100 or 1000 milestone makes things any easier. But learned much in the 5 years of doing TH-cam. Overtime things do go more smoothly as you get more familiar with the process of making videos. So you make less mistakes during recording which means less editing work afterwards. Practice and repetition really did make things more easy overtime. Also it great to have a audience that's already is familiar with your content and getting feedback on day one of releasing a video instead of seeing that only one person watched your newest video. Definitely really challenging to get a bit of momentum when nobody knows you jet. Really important to keep moving forward as overtime your channel will grow. Work on improving your content and check out other creators and be a part of the TH-cam community. That really worked and also made a lots of new friends out here. Thanks for the awesome video, Brian G Johnson. 😺😺❤️❤️
I found that after 100, growth was faster, then after 1000, even faster. But like you said, you have to have momentum. What I've found over the nearly 3 years of my gaming channel is that my momentum was going into improving my videos. My delivery improves, my editing improves, my storytelling improves. I look at a year old video now, and think it's not nearly as good as my current videos. In a year, I'll look at my current videos (and I've started adding music and sound effects from Epidemic Sound recently), and I'll think I've come a long way. But it doesn't get easier to make the videos. I'm learning new techniques that make the videos more complex to make, but I find that I'm enjoying watching the raw video transform during the editing process. And you know what? I actually enjoy watching my newest videos. I find my earliest videos difficult to watch.
Some great points here. I’m just starting looking into adding music and figuring out when to have the music or when to turn it down a little around when I’m talking. Difficult to judge a lot of things as novice. Glad your channel has done so well 👍
@@outdoortoolsandtasks Thanks. 2 years later, growth has slowed down, but I went through a period of burnout. I'm getting settled into a more sustainable production pace, and I'm starting to see better results.
Same! Except I'm afraid I won't have time to do all the editing. I'm getting better at editing but it takes longer. So I wish I had more time to edit. But sometimes I say post it already so I can move on to next video.
As YT is always "in flux" we are always trying to find the system that works. Well, there is no system. Create, upload, improve and keep doing it......4-ever lol
Hey Brian it’s me Joey B! That’s another thing that I realized is I truly love the for creative process, and want nothing more than to continuously learn. I guess not everyone has that mindset.
I’m convinced that it has taken me so long (3 years now) because I had (and still have) a lot to learn. Learning techy stuff takes time , especially for us more “mature” folk! ☺️ It feels easier and quicker only because I HAVE learned so much !! (My very first video took a week to edit! Mostly cos I’d get frustrated and have to walk away!) Thank you for this Brian!! 😄👍🏻
I’m day 15 into vlogmas and I’ve had so many issues so I literally thought to myself the other day if it got easier! Thank you for this! I think taking it a video at a time and having small goals (consistency, better editing etc) helps me not be overwhelmed! 🥰

This is so honest and I believe it’s true. Forget the likes, subscribers, where you are at now. As you say, it’s gaining momentum, telling a good story, getting better, content planning. Keep producing, keep learning, do what you enjoy, give value and be yourself. Enjoy the journey too, the rest will follow. Good luck to all and don’t give up. Thank-you Brian, your videos are beautifully made and the content is so encouraging. We dig ❤
You are right about 'creating creative momentum'.... I've been working on my art videos for a year now.... trying to learn the process of making my graphics art. Along the way I had to learn to build computers so I could make my art. Then came editing, sound.... now I'm trying to create the exact kind of video my potential viewers might like. I've been following you for 18 months now.... thank you for the tips, but thank you even more for the continual boost I need to get the work done, to study the process more, and over all, to enjoy the process and learn from it all the more. Wishing you and all a Happy New Year from California!
I think that the people who make it to 1000 and beyond need to be doing it for the love of it, otherwise they would have stopped. A lot of people realized it wasn't for them long before 1000. It's not easier but most people have some sort of love involved.
most solid advice ive seen on this subject, while i do put work and effort on my channel and presentation one thing that has been helping me is checking out public speaking and even comedians videos to become more comfortable in my videos i can go back to older ones and really see the difference, rip to your dog by the way

I believe it does get easier. I'm experiencing growth on my channel Back To The Boom Bap and it's mostly about keeping it simple and giving my audience more of what they liked before.
I had a plan in place so I wouldn't get stuck under 100 and I actually had 150 subscribers before my first upload. I really sucked on camera, it's a long story but along the lines of Dan Aykroid saying "we're on a mission from god" is why I'm on youtube..I had to go so far as to do subconscious reprogramming techniques.....yeah, that bad, but I was consistent and got better on camera and explaining ideas. subscriber rate has more than doubled in the last 2 months but that didn't start till I was closer to 2000, so yeah I think it's getting easier and slow and steady wins the race. Thank you Brian
