Unpopular opinion but people really be on here making bad content blaming youtube for hating small content creators. I'm by no means an expert content creator but be honest with yourself, give yourself time to improve and always try to learn something new. I spent the last few months on TH-cam really just trying to focus on making the best content I can. Now im really starting to see the growth I wanted in the beginning.

Can't really say reaching the 100 or 1000 milestone makes things any easier. But learned much in the 5 years of doing TH-cam.
Overtime things do go more smoothly as you get more familiar with the process of making videos. So you make less mistakes during recording which means less editing work afterwards. Practice and repetition really did make things more easy overtime.
Also it great to have a audience that's already is familiar with your content and getting feedback on day one of releasing a video instead of seeing that only one person watched your newest video. Definitely really challenging to get a bit of momentum when nobody knows you jet.
Really important to keep moving forward as overtime your channel will grow. Work on improving your content and check out other creators and be a part of the TH-cam community. That really worked and also made a lots of new friends out here.
Thanks for the awesome video, Brian G Johnson. 😺😺❤️❤️

Hi Brian, this has been something I've been wondering about. I know most TH-camrs that have successful channels say focus on thumbnails and good editing skills. But I have seen many channels with half a million subscribers that put no effort what so ever in creating their videos and thousands of views on their videos. This proves if your content is informative and entertaining people will watch your videos no matter what. Thank you Brian for answering this question for me.

I found that after 100, growth was faster, then after 1000, even faster. But like you said, you have to have momentum. What I've found over the nearly 3 years of my gaming channel is that my momentum was going into improving my videos. My delivery improves, my editing improves, my storytelling improves. I look at a year old video now, and think it's not nearly as good as my current videos. In a year, I'll look at my current videos (and I've started adding music and sound effects from Epidemic Sound recently), and I'll think I've come a long way. But it doesn't get easier to make the videos. I'm learning new techniques that make the videos more complex to make, but I find that I'm enjoying watching the raw video transform during the editing process. And you know what? I actually enjoy watching my newest videos. I find my earliest videos difficult to watch.

I’m convinced that it has taken me so long (3 years now) because I had (and still have) a lot to learn. Learning techy stuff takes time , especially for us more “mature” folk! ☺️ It feels easier and quicker only because I HAVE learned so much !! (My very first video took a week to edit! Mostly cos I’d get frustrated and have to walk away!) Thank you for this Brian!! 😄👍🏻

Wow! Thanks for featuring my comment in your video! You're exactly right. Storytelling and authority are key, even without all the fancy edits. I noticed your editing on this video was almost the exact opposite lol. I counted 10 cuts in the first 30 seconds, cut to a background track. I'm a big fan of trying things and mixing it up. Keep it up! Appreciate your hard work, tips, and encouragement!

You are right about 'creating creative momentum'.... I've been working on my art videos for a year now.... trying to learn the process of making my graphics art. Along the way I had to learn to build computers so I could make my art. Then came editing, sound.... now I'm trying to create the exact kind of video my potential viewers might like.
I've been following you for 18 months now.... thank you for the tips, but thank you even more for the continual boost I need to get the work done, to study the process more, and over all, to enjoy the process and learn from it all the more. Wishing you and all a Happy New Year from California!

I had a plan in place so I wouldn't get stuck under 100 and I actually had 150 subscribers before my first upload. I really sucked on camera, it's a long story but along the lines of Dan Aykroid saying "we're on a mission from god" is why I'm on youtube..I had to go so far as to do subconscious reprogramming techniques.....yeah, that bad, but I was consistent and got better on camera and explaining ideas. subscriber rate has more than doubled in the last 2 months but that didn't start till I was closer to 2000, so yeah I think it's getting easier and slow and steady wins the race. @@BriangjohnsonTv My niche is very different. It doesn't follow the mainstream trend, so I'm assuming that's why the algorithm is not picking it up.

There is quite an illusion because you gain much less when ur around 100 usually and 1000 u many gain more but it’s still just as slow to your next goal

Well, it's a bigger puzzle full of missing pieces than ten years ago. Some say all that junk mentioned in that comment is a must to stuck out while I agree with the commenter; most of the time it's stupid and some people go overboard thinking that's what gets the views. You are one of the few I've seen have a good balance of extra and get to the point.
Even my own videos don't tell me people like ___ more than ___. The videos that blew up vary on what the part of the LP was about. Even then, watch time isn't great. I have been thinking I just want to entertain and if I get to the point of making money, so be it. I have been thinking you can't do that anymore. You have to think unpaid 9-5 job. Also lately I've been questioning if the algorithm doesn't like breaks? I haven't uploaded much all year due to mental health and now feeling unmotivated ( which is another thing; toxic community around what you're uploading when it's considered wise to interact with people who make the same videos) so my few videos in October dud worse then usual though interestingly my subscriber count is going up. 🤔 The puzzle of YT. There's more to the puzzle, but this is getting long.
