  • We take a look at the brand new BOSS AD-10 Acoustic pre-amp now available to order at PMT: www.pmtonline.co.uk/boss-ad-1...
Check out the BOSS AD-10 over at PMT Online today: www.pmtonline.co.uk/catalogse...
The BOSS AD-10 Acoustic Preamp is a professional acoustic guitarists dream pedal. This nifty piece of kit has been expertly designed to improve the sound of your acoustic guitar and restore all the lush vibrancy of an acoustic that can sometimes get lost when playing through a PA or amplifier.
In this demonstration we see how the BOSS AD-10 restores the tone of your guitar and faithfully delivers the signal of your guitar regardless of what type of pickup you’re using, whether it’s an on-board preamp or piezo pickup.
The BOSS AD-10 preamp also includes a host of useful features and effects, and you have comprehensive control over your EQ at all times. You have an onboard compressor to adjust dynamics, 3 different types of delay and chorus to choose from - each of which have been specifically tuned for an acoustic guitar. There’s a wide range of reverb effects to choose from as well as an 80 second looper, allowing you to sculpt entire songs on the fly.
There’s also an on board tuner, meaning you’re gig ready, any time!
The BOSS AD-10 also features an MDP Compressor dial control (CP-1X circuit) allowing you to adjust the dynamics musically without muffling your tone or losing any of those subtle nuances within an acoustic guitar.
Watch the video and listen to how this BOSS AD-10 completely improves the sound of your acoustic guitar instantly. If you’re tired of not getting the sound you want out of your acoustic guitar on stage - this is the solution!

Always enjoy Sam's demos - clear, straightforward and no unnecessary bullshit or infantile looning such as you get all too often from certain demo-uploading duos. Great stuff - an no wanking around with show-off shred or suchlike. Thanks Sam, grteat acoustic playing, by the way.
As an added personal thought --- I rarely use or like overdrive or distortion and even with FX units designed for acoustics, I often use them with my electrics simply because I never need to drive them too hard.

Great review. Is the acoustic preamp comparable to the dedicated AD-2 in your opinion? I have that, TU-3W and the CP-1X going into a Radial J48 and love it, but this mega box has it ALL it seems. Just don't want to lose the great tone of the AD-2.

Are you going to turn the tone selector with your fingers while
    playing? Anyone? Thanks!

Solid playing and review, sir. Took me months to decide if I liked the AD-10. The chorus button is pointless. Acoustic Resonance is futile. I'm ambivalent about the Ambience feature. But I like the AD-10's soft compression, EQ, effects loop, delays, looper and anti-feedback/notch functions. It's not an amp modeler. If great acoustic guitar tone is elusive, this pedal will not mask the suck. Additionally, the AD-10 tends to magnify that irksome under-saddle piezo quack. I got rid of the under-saddle transducers from my Gibson J-45 and Martin DC-16GTE and installed K&K systems (mounted on the bridge plate in the guitar cavity, not squished under the saddle). No more batteries. No more quack. Just great sound from each guitar when amplified. The AD-10 really shines now.

    • @mylerism
      @mylerism ปีที่แล้ว

@@Ronaldo__McDonaldo Finding the right sound can be pretty satisfying. I go back and forth between the AD-10 and the Sonicake acoustic pedal. The base settings I use on the AD-10 are: 1) EQ - Bass-20, Mid-10, Treble-40, Presence-35, 2) Acoustic Resonance (Natural)-70, and 3) Compression (Hard)-19. That seems to keep it fairly balanced through my acoustic amp (Fishman Loudbox Artist) I indicated in my previous post I didn't care for the acoustic resonance, but I've grown to like it, as long as compression and Presence stays low.

Hi friends, I have a question; I bought the ad-10 and when I turn off the unit, the screen remains turn on and continuing showing the letters ad/By alternatively and continue flashing, is normal?. Maybe this is not the correct place for this question, but I search information and I don't find it.

It seems that if you have a piezo only pickup system you would benefit more from a unit that has more modeling control, but if you have a guitar with a mic+ piezo system yo might not need any more extensive modeling control. Bottom line is not every guitar will fit every preamp.

I don't think u can get a true/realistic sound gauge here on YT. They have video compression(mics use/recording software/and which do color the audio. Tone is also controlled by the picking hand which I think he is a bit heavy handed on in this demo. I found a softer touch even for aggressive parts of a song gets me 50% better tone before the darn signal even leaves the guitar!

@@evenseb7574 what's wrong with it? Let me count the ways.
      1. it sounds like a thin typical transducer pick up, no matter what setting you give it..
      2. Its a gimmick to fool those who aren't critical about the sound of their guitar into thinking they need to buy it.
      3. No matter what their advertising says, it does not sound like a well-miced studio recording of an acoustic guitar while played live... it still sounds like POop.
      3. see my original comment.
      4. When your ears can tell the difference between maple , mahogany and spruce, you're only lying to yourself if you think anything in modern technology has made a plugged-in acoustic guitar sound natural.
Sorry bud, this ain't my first rodeo... I've tried EVERYTHING out there. Nothing lives up to the advertisement hype concerning plugged in acoustic guitar. The only solution is a mic at the sound hole... and we all know the horrors of doing that after one gig.

I'm not sure if it was the guitar and pickup system, but that sounded awful. All quack to heavily compressed quack. With units like the Tonedexter by Audio Sprockets and simple pre's like the Red-Eye and the Sunnaudio STage DI, I don't know why someone would buy this. I'm a big fan of many Boss effects, but this video made me not want to buy it.
