14 years later and England has not progressed at all. In fact, the current England team look even worse than the 2010 team. What a sad state of affairs.

True. We were in a far tougher group in 2014. 2022’s England would have probably easily topped this group in 2010.
Yeah, in 2014 we had a weak squad and a tough group, so most of us considered that a write off. 2010 was just abysmal. Terrible tactics, baffling team selection and important players like Rooney were not playing well. We were so bad in 2010 that our highlight of the tournament was scraping past Slovenia 1-0, a team that until then were playing better than us (and we were VERY lucky we won that match)
I remember being so disappointed by this tournament. So many players like Terry , Lampard , Gerrard and Rooney were having outstanding seasons yet when it came to England the same quality wasn’t there

The problem was Capello. He didn't form meaningful relationships with any of the players and he failed to uplift the team after the USA disappointment. His team selection and tactics were also baffling.
@@TheRoyalCavalier club management is very different from international team management! England should promote the successful youth managers u20/u21s to the senior team or failing that a manager who has had success at international management from abroad.
