Love the previa, they’re good vans. My parents had one for 26 years since it was a 1993, had that van since childhood before it was donated. Sure miss driving it, it was also my first car.
One issue I had with Previa was when it rained, hitting a puddle would splash up around the engine causing stutters and sometimes killing the engine. Coveniently I live in a desert with little rain.
Were the belts tight? I do not think there is a splash guard protect from water and rocks. All old cars seem to squeal and/or stutter when going through sitting water.
Yeah going into water is a no no, I did a 4WD course and I was told if you avoid water as you engine, brakes pads and other metal bits are going to be hot, the if you rapidly cool it like quenching in water, all sorts of bad stuff happens, engine failure, discs warp and electrics shorts.
I did not drain the reservoir as the oil inside of it was new and unused. I only drain the actual oil pan and refilled with four quarts of oil. When the vehicle was started, the system drew oil from the reservoir. I then toped of the reservoir with more new oil.
@@gnwperformance5293 , awesome! Makes perfect sense. We just bought one of these neat little vans and it’s about time to change the oil. When I saw the reservoir I became baffled. It’s a weird little van, but it seemed like a steal for $1,000. Only 92k miles on it and one owner.
@@Douglas-vw3qn Who would have expected this type of system on a 4 cylinder mini van. That is also a great score on the van. I paid $400 for my van but it had 208K on it. I am at 247K now. So if you think about it, you are not even halfway there. Good Luck and Stay Safe....
@@gnwperformance5293 those 90s toyota engines seem invincible. The transmission will likely go before the engine. That is what happened to my Previa, but I hit the half-million mark on odometer before that.
LOL. Definitely change the oil as it keeps the chain lubed. I am 7 years in on my $400 van. I want to fix it up and drive cross country. I wish it had a higher tow rating but 3,500 LBS is the max.
I apologize but I do not speak Spanish. Possible reason why your van loses power going up hill is a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or clogged catalytic converter. I did a Google search and found several causes why this would happen. Look at the potential causes and eliminate them one by one. Good Luck!

Yes, these are great vans. Glad to hear you enjoyed the van.
I got one used with 175,000 miles and it lasted to 503,000 miles before the transmission bit the dust.
@@bigl5343 Toyota’s from the 90’s they’ll last you a decent amount of time. It’s like they are bulletproof.

Did you have to drain the Oil reservoir separate or did it drain whenever you pulled the plug under the pan.

Old Toyotas are tough as rusty nails. My Tarago/prévia has over 400000km, still chugging along. Must change t he oil one day.
