    We are so fortunate to have these recordings of one of the finest tenors who lived and died from illness and Nazi abuse-- he served as a Cantor and the recordings reveal a deep sacred spirit- may his name and voice be forever lauded. Rest in peace

    What a fantastic tenor Joseph was! His exceptional talent is superimposed with exceptional cruelty life had imposed on him. But he will remembered forever because of absolute uniqueness of his beautiful voice.

    My father, who was also from Cernowitz, thought that Joseph Schmidt, was the greatest tenor of all singers.
    I think the same.

    So easy to listen too and such a great and wonderful quality voice - unique .

    clearest and most "Hi-Fi" recordings I've ever heard of Schmidt - what an incredible singer and artist .

    Thanks for these recordings. Listening to Schmidt's voice after all these years is always a privilege. Personally, I'd prefer them with a little less floating 'noise reduction' and a bit more 'raw'. Fantastic frequency range, though.
