No worries though, I have to get very creative to come up with reasons to retire or transition my shoes. I rotate through 8 pairs at the moment, but I don't think that is reason enough to keep me from trying out the T22.
I have the T20 and as a lighter runner (70kg - 155lbs) I like the ride firmness of that shoe but with my weight I'm not sure if these won't be a tad firmer than what I like. But these were definitely in my wishlist...
Reminds me of the triumph 17 but with a pb midsole. That was one of my favorite shoes, and i still use them as slippers. So comfy. Debating on waiting for the gtx version, considering they probably run warm. Just hope the weight isn't affected much with the gortex.
The Triumph 17/18/19 had the pwrun+ and an 8mm drop, some of my favorite shoes despite being horrendously heavy and hot/sponge like in the upper. So when they switched over to the 10mm drop it was a big blow for my shoe rotation as the triumph had become a staple shoe for me, you're absolutely right about the Ride 17 though. I'm about 25 miles into a pair I picked up a week back and can tell I've finally found an adequate successor for my beloved triumph 19's. Just forgiving enough to go any distance without being overly squishy soft, for whatever reason pwrrun+ is probably the best foam for my personal mechanics that I've ever experienced just lines up so well with the way I run
i honestly don't understand the criticism about this shoe. I have seen lots of youtube running enthusiasts giving loads of critisism but for what? 15 grams difference to the triumph 21 ? come on. Everybody should know that so little, doesn't effect the everyday runner. The stability is absolutely superb. the wide frontsole makes landings absolutely great. The foam is made of the same material as sauconys speed models so it's response is really good despite now having a carbon sole. Not to mention the upper fit is really comfortable. Overall i am very pleased with my new everyday trainer. And i am a male at 80 kgs.
I really wish they went back down to an 8mm drop. I want to grab a pair of these but I can sometimes get arch issues with a higher drop compared to my normal 6-8mm
I had thought of possibly getting this one but talk of a wide base and relatively heavy means not sure what real use case it might have for me when say I often do say an hour easyish in an Endorphin Speed which, even in the Speed 4, seems about 70g lighter for us in a UK 13. Also Saucony shoes always seem to have tongues that look like they are almost touching out of the box. I suspect these would touch for me to get an OK lockdown given you seem to imply that it fits a lot wider than say a Speed 4?
Definitely a wider fit than the speed 4 in the toebox yes! I’m on holiday this week and I’ll do a couple of easy runs… I’ve chosen to bring the speed 4….
The 21 was a versatile shoe and comfortable so why take a back wood step by adding more weight and plushness. But like all reviews the new shoe is always better than the previous one .
these are built for an extremely aggressive heel strike and the cushion bottoms out if you're heavier than 160 lbs. i wouldn't wear these to take my trash to the curb.
I tried this at the London Expo, felt huge, felt half a size too big for me. Didn't find it a particularly exciting shoe, midsole felt dead to me. A bit boring.
I’ve heard this… I’m not sure how someone can describe them as firm! But then… I am 6ft 6in and nearly 90kg so heavier than most than will use this shoe… I put more force through each stride therefore I compress the midsole more? I should think for a sub 70kg runner it might be different!!
I'll be getting these for walking. They are the nicest triumphs I've ever seen. The all white looks sweet. Are they more comfortable than a Clifton nine as far as just walking goes? Like just as a daily shoe. @@TheFODRunner
@michealGRuns I've got a saucony outlet shop 30 minutes from me, I might take a look next time I go. I've already got the novablast 4, which is comfy but not for fast runs, suspecting it will be similar
Andy - hopefully you don’t respond as your on holiday. They have beefed it up. It’s not vying the Superblast or the Prime X Strung. Where is that shoe Saucony? This chunkster is against the ASICS Nimbus 26 or NB More V4. It’s a super cushion. It’s an easy day shoe BUT with a 10mm drop… Unsure if the Powerrun PB is a red herring? It doesn’t sound versatile either… not sure.
I’m staying away from the Triumph line (and probably Saucony) forever. I bought a pair of 21’s after hearing how cushioned and bouncy they are and how many people loved them. I found them incredibly firm and lifeless. No compression at all. Like running in converse. Worst shoes I’ve ever run in. No break in after multiple runs. After some research it seems there’s a lot of inconsistency in midsole firmness depending on what colour you have and where they were made. Inexcusable, never again!
its a bit of an ugly duckling that one... had the T21 and T20 and both were unstable and wobbly, traction was good and fit was also good but 10mm drop on a wobbly platform, they in the box on the shelf and there they will stay... hope having a great holiday
@@karlbratby4349 The Mizuno Wave Rider is quite stable and easy to use for a daily trainer. I’ve been meaning to pick up an ASICS Cumulus 24 or newer to try as well.
I now have 700k in my triumph 20s and looking at replacing them. I do not really like the 20's tbh. They're not soft, not a lot of cushining, not springy. Just a lot of nothing. Hearing you say that the 22s are soft gives some hope.
It’s so annoying that I find a shoe I like T21 and they go and “improve” it. I don’t like change 😁. Thanks for the great review Andy
Good morning. Saucony for ever!!!! Thanks for this information about the new Triumph 22. Like to Andy. Cheers.
I have tried so many daily trainers, long run shoes and what not but then I bought ASICS Superblast and that shoe is a game changer.
I am doing well, I haven't bought any new shoes for two months! Getting the use out of my 20+ pairs that I have now!
20 pairs you have a addiction 😂😂👍🏻🏃♂️🏅
Hahaha sounds relatable😅
Is that how you introduce yourself at running shoes anonymous? 🤣🤣

I love the Triumph 19’s. The Ride 17’s are similar?
Solid review. Better than the 21, pretty impressive!

I loved mine, got over 100 miles in them and I agree 👍
Can i use this shoe for walk & daily use?

6-8 is my usual drop too, 10 feels slightly odd!
Ride 17 then..

Does the ride of this shoe feel like the Endorphin Shift 3?
are you going to do a review of the cielo x1?
I’d like too, but my bank account is still recovering from the alphafly 3 😂

Conflicting reviews so far. Some have said the ride is firm and the fit not Ideal.

I love the Triumphs, but worried that the 22 has become too plush, I might buy the Ride 17 next and give the Triumph 22 a miss
Ditto. To use an asics comparison, the triumph was a novablast and now its a nimbus. I don't like the nimbus.
Looks like it's been designed to replace the shift.
It isn’t nearly as soft as either the NB or Nimbus not even close.
The ride 17 isn’t very good either. I sold my pair after a few runs. Triumph 21 can’t be beat 🤷🏻♂️

22 are very good. The 21 are on sale for like 25 cents so it’s hard to justify getting the new one.
