That coat looks gorgeous on you! (Or maybe better said is you look gorgeous in that coat!) Great for your body type! Super classy! Good job investing in yourself. So inspiring!!
@@dirgniflesuoh7950 Right after reading this I cleared out all the extra hangers and put them in the laundry room. Such a great idea - and my closet looks so much better.
I woke up at 4 am. It's currently 10:45 am. And in that amount of time.. I Decluttered a big bag of more clothes, 4 purses and 7 pairs of shoes!! Tidied my space, took our trash out. Since we moved a few months ago, my minimalism kicked into overdrive! I habe decluttered 35+ bags of clothes. And because of your personality I will binge watch your videos for inspiration while cleaning, organizing and decluttering!
Way to go! I just lost weight so I’ve decluttered almost my entire wardrobe 😮 I can’t wait until I can try on clothes in shops again so I can find out what works.
When you're in your closet, whipping things off hangers and declaring that they're cover ups and you're getting rid of them, the energy there is such a mood. Taking yourself back from your clothes. Love it.
I love that you're prioritizing your style! The biggest advice I can add is to update your foundations. Go and get your bra resized. A well fitting bra will change your body, especially if you're an hourglass. Bringing the puppies up will give you a smaller waist. Highwaisted underwear with a tummy panel will smooth out your lines. There are tons of new styles that are super comfortable. Seriously, get your bra resized.
I really think Erica needs to go down a band size and up a cup size. She is such a petite young woman hiding under all those layers. As a mother of a young girl, now is the time to start educating herself on underwear. Erica is doing everything Right!
I’m on the short side and have always had wider hips. I usually get my oversized sweater to “cover up” so they go to my end of hip or cover my bottom. After watching this I went to the mirror and realized the big sweater actually makes my hips look bigger. When I pulled the sweater higher my hips were not as wide-looking. Like what? Thank you for this realization 😂😉
While you were talking about how you just cover up with clothes I really felt that. A lot of times I do that because I dont feel pretty/skinny enough. But you know what? Dressing baggy doesnt make you skinny it makes you just dressed baggy
This is one of the most moving videos you've made. Especially about your confidence from within yourself and seeing that in your kids. Plus practical advice!
I had my "colors done" several decades ago and it is the best money I ever spent. When I shop I look only at what is in my colors, so it saves me a lot of time. And because the right color makes even a cheap piece of clothing look great, I save a lot of money. I get many compliments that I am younger and healthier than I actually am!
Your confidence is empowering! Thank you for sharing this change in perspective. Something I tackled when rediscovering my style and embracing my body was undergarments. I bought an assortment of panties to see if I was wearing not only the right size, but the right style for comfort and fit. I also got sized for bras...turns out I was wearing bras too small for me. It took some time to find the type of bra that suited me in the correct size, but now I find when I wear fitted shirts, my bra fitting right gives me extra confidence. Just thought I’d share!
Yes! Erica you deserve to wear good fitting undergarments. I think it’s a right of passage for women in their 40’s! When I was in my 40’s and was fitted with quality, well fitting undergarments I felt like I’d entered a world where I felt worthy, plus my clothes definitely fit better.
You are connected with yourself, no longer distracting or avoiding yourself. I also have had the realization that we need to learn to like ourselves, know ourselves, as we are with ourselves, (sometimes even alone), all the day long!
Whoo Hoo!! The weather is changing here and we need to change out our seasonal clothes! Wear what feels good in your heart!! I always thought of clothes of an outward expression of yourself!! I’m sure you’ll find your style in no time 🧡💛🤎

I think peplum tops were trendy a few years ago so they were easier to find then. Since they're less trendy now, they're harder to find new, but you might have a lot of luck shopping used. I know there are some online used clothing stores that let you try on and return things. Peplum isn't flattering on me but I feel like I see it all the time when I'm browsing thredup.
I wanted to step through the screen and hug you in this one, friend. It’s like you are figuring out who you are a little bit more in every video. That has to be so freeing for you. ❤️
I am so happy to see your life improve while you delve into these topics. No more hiding! :) This year I also started to research my color palette and body type (soft autumn & soft natural/Kibbe image ID)! It transformed my wardrobe, my self confidence, and my life! Also upgrading my underwear that fit exactly right (especially bra's) made my outfits look 100% better. Ps. My recommendation for styling (yin&yang styling) is Elyssa Aesthetic on TH-cam!

One piece of fashion advice to offer > if you want to amp up style when your wear longer skirts and dresses and even your jeans add some fashion sneakers with a bulkier sole .It will modernize your look and compliment the pieces you already own. It's so great to be following you on your journey of growth. When I first joined you and watched the videos of you overwhelmed with the basement full of boxes, I'd never have imagined that the minimalism journey would have led you to a path where you're showing off your figure with a fantastic wardrobe. I am SO here for it!! Amazing growth! 💜 And I'm excited to carry on following your journey to see where it takes you.
so happy that you are focusing on clothes that make you look and feel good. Becfore, we would feel guilty about decluttering 'perfectly good' clothes but now if they don't fall in your new guidelines, they're not perfect at all.
I wanted to say that I think the side part & other side clipped back is very flattering! Enjoying your trip(s) to minimalism, self, family!! Enjoy your husband & his willingness to help!! 🤗🤗🤗
Go Erica, what a change you have made from the tearful lady trying to clear her attic of clutter. I am loving your increasing confidence 👍 You said ironing perfectly to me here in the 🇬🇧
I happy for you that you are discovering these things about you body/type shape and what to...or not to wear. You sound excited. I can't wait for you to share more. You've come such a long way on your journey.
I joined 40+Style a couple years ago and oh man, I learned so much there and it was such an uplifting place to be on their Facebook group. We would share pictures of each other and get honest feedback and ideas on how to improve. This was so good for me style wise but also to learn about color, high vs low contrast, image, self growth etc. Amazing how good this was for me personally.
Hi, just wanted to say this video helped me find Carol Tuttle and Dressing Your Truth. Carol's information has changed my life and has given me valuable information and tools for not only my clothing, but interpersonal tools I will use for the rest of my life. THANK YOU. Also, that light brown coat is FANTASTIC on you!
Oh Erica, you look fabulous in your boots and fall coat! Hooray!! Navy blue and camel (your coat color) look absolutely stunning together. I'm so happy you're focusing on yourself, for once. You go lady!
As you edit your closet, also think about what you can do to be able to wear some of your pieces if you still like the color etc. I started giving some of my favorite tops a few gathers on the sides with a quick hand basting stitch, or round the hems on tunics or other tops that are too long, so they hit in a more flattering place on my body. If you're wearing a sweater or a jacket with a straight hemmed top underneath, tuck in only the back half of the top. This will give the front a round looking, more flattering hem. Also I bought boot suspenders on amazon which can be used to give a too boxy jacket or sweater a waist by putting them on the inside sides or back of the garment to take up a little material. Use sleeve garters to keep your sleeves at 3/4 length, which helps give the illusion of a smaller waist. I also was able to keep many things that I thought didn't fit right by adding 1/4" - 1/2" shoulder pads (not the big thick ones of the 80s) but enough to just give some shape. Pin or sew them in jackets and sweaters or there are ones that attach to your bra straps. Shoulder pads are inexpensive and automatically make things fit better and see more high end (like your blue jacket). I never get rid of things that I like till I think about all of these options. Another great trick is to balance skin. If you're showing leg or ankle, be sure you show some neck and/or arm as well.
Great decisions! I love your coat! Your confidence blooms with every vlog. If you are comfortable in something, wear it. When you realize the lines of an outfit are not flattering, donate it. Love year-round items incorporating with layering, dress up/down. Some days you want oversized comfy, especially in the fall/winter, just feeling cozy, but don't lose yourself...you are finding what was there...just need to work on the layers of life.
I have been watching your channel since you first started decluttering your basement in the previous house. You have come a long way and I truly enjoy watching your journey and you inspire me to question my past discussions. 👍🥰
Thank you Erica. Keep keeping it real! You are inspiring so many people to embrace their real selves. I feel like I'm just hanging with a friend, shooting the breeze when I watch your videos.
That coat looks awesome on you! Also please please please have these conversations with your daughter (and sons) about learning to love and accept your body for what it is.
I love how you learn new things and embrace them! Your journey is truly awesome to watch and inspiring. I was watching this thinking about what a great effect all of this will have on your family and then you shared the story about your daughter. Simply beautiful! ❤️
Yes you can tell how hourglass you are with the brown jacket - really suits you. You are Real so natural! Coat looks Beaut. The Blue suits your hair colour.
Erica, if you can afford it, buy some felt hangers to put your clothes on. They're not too expensive, but are slimmer an doesn't leave dents in the shoulders. You can get them almost anywhere, TJ Max, Marshall's, Amazon etc. You'll fit more in the space you have. You're hair looks so nice today. Your coat is very pretty on you. Thanks for sharing !!
Feel good about the body you have. You are beautiful! None of us are Twiggy thin, as we age we get more beautiful. I’m looking forward to seeing you take over that closet and feel good.
Really like a couple of your blazers & sweaters. Suggestion: Dollar Tree has velour coated flat hangers, pack of 5 for $1.00, our store carries them in tan or black. They would be a nice upgrade to your closet, they look good because they are all uniform in size & style and clothes don't slip off because of their texture. Treat yourself, you deserve it.
I’m glad the blue blazer is going to bless someone else... it was too big. 😍 You are doing such a great job- loving this transformation of body and soul.
This is wonderful Erica. The new choices are terrific , in terms of choosing the blue as your main base or neutral colour( more versatile than brown/camel in terms of the seasons. Smart! May I make one suggestion? The coat is lovely and very feminine but the sleeves appear a bit long- perhaps a tailor can shorten then just an inch or so? It will make a huge difference in how it fits and looks! Cheers you are inspiring🌹
Hi Erica! I love your new styling. I am a short hour glass figure girl (old lady, really). I found a long time ago that shorter jackets complimented me best. So I love denim jackets or cloth jackets that are cut like denim jackets. You can dress them up or down and the fit is very flattering.
I just discovered you via a link from Dawn at The Minimal Mom. Erica, you are amazing!! I just love how you’ve made the connection on how your own self-talk impacts those around you. I got teared up when you told about your daughter saying “I believe in myself!” to herself. That is SOOO awesome. I also love how you have come around to understand your style and what flatters your figure. I have been a cover-up type style for decades and I too have recently educated myself on my body type and the most flattering styles for it, and it’s amazing the difference it makes. Bravo! I will probably binge watch your channel this weekend, I enjoy you so much!! 💕
Love Audrey Coyne, will look into the others, thanks. Try Busbee style also- aimed at 40-ish females, very good, For a long time I was way overweight and couldn't really dress well. Have lost a lot and now I kind of enjoy clothes again, especially finds at Goodwill. I think getting rid of those oatmeal-colored baggy sweaters is a great idea.
Awesome job on figuring out your style! I did this a couple years ago too! I've never been overweight, but I was doing the same thing as you - covering up. I didn't want naughty boy's attention and felt like dressing frumpy would deter it. I also had low self-esteem, and felt like it kept me invisible. Well, I've been married ten years now, and it's a blast getting my wonderful husband excited just by looking at me. LoL. (And I'm still very modest too.) Your daughter is awesome. A "parenting win" moment! It's incredible how much they pick up from our good (and bad) example. 😋
Erica, You are a Rockstar! I am so proud of you and the progress you are making within yourself and how that is beautifully expressed all around you! and the comment about your daughter made me cry. You are creating a legacy to be proud of in your family.
Erica, I LOVE your new coat, it looks gorgeous on you!! I’m also a short (5’2”) hourglass. I recommend two books by Trinny Woodall and Susanna Constantine-“the body shape bible” and “what not to wear”. They have been my go to books for clothing fit for over a decade. I also recommend pencil skirts and wrap shirts, they are amazingly flattering for an hourglass shape. You are amazing! You’re so relatable, every time I watch your videos it’s like getting together with my sister. You have encouraged me SO much in my own journey, Thank you so much!!
Yes love this video!! Just found out my colors!! Warm Spring Sister to Warm Autumn! I also have clothes I keep to cover. I also have an hourglass figure and have always felt I needed to constantly cover my butt and hips. Decluttering all the colors I need to avoid and all my clothes I use to hide. They don't make me feel beautiful they make me feel hidden and that's not my goal!
This video gives me joy seeing how happy you are. And I’m LOVING your new coat :) ❤️ I’m currently 39 weeks pregnant so my wardrobe at the moment consists of anything that fits my huge bump - but I’m squirrelling away all your tips and ideas so once my body stabilises after baby arrives I’m gonna revisit my wardrobe :)
@BosomBesties has taught me so much that none of us are taught about how bras should fit! Using their calculator and watching them on Instagram and TH-cam taught me so much. Now having great fitting bras in a size I need but would never find on a rack has upped my wardrobe game so much and everything fits/lays more nicely now and I don’t have to keep adjusting myself.
I love this video for so many reasons! A TH-cam channel that helped me LOL is helping me... I'm still in the process... find my personal style is Justine Leconte officiel. She actually designs clothes, so she talks a lot about body shape and skin tone and hair color and color in general and styles that look good on different body types... all that. I'm so glad you decided to make a TH-cam channel so we could celebrate this process with you!
Wow! This was amazing to see how much you changed since you did your last wardrobe video....I think you're really making some great improvements and changes. Way to go!
Love that you are taking care of yourself. I thought some of your clothes were covering you up and dragging you down. You have got the right idea to get things that will compliment. I just lost 45 lbs. and went through the same thing with my clothes and style.
I am 73, 4 children. When I was a young mother I also “did my colors and body type”. Not only me but began buying my children and husbands color and style. Today that has contributed in their life. When wearing the right stuff we become more acceptable to the eye but it’s totally subconscious! We aren’t sure why this or that person seems nice to us.
Hi Erica! Been following you since the very beginning, and it’s amazing to see how much you’ve grown in all areas! So proud of you for your style confidence! I started watching Dearly Bethany about a Month ago!!! I’m so excited you mentioned her! I took notes on style and bought a few pieces for my fall wardrobe since I decluttered all my clothes! I immediately feel the same way about confidence in style!! 🤗💜👏🏻 Keep it up , Missy! We believe in you!
Woohooo!! So excited for you to start your style journey! Fashion has been a hobby of mine for a long time, and it's so great to see you so excited about finding clothes that work well for you and look beautiful. I actually gasped when I saw you in that coat (you look so amazing in it!) and also when you put the blue outfit with the bodysuit and skirt together! Such good choices, can't wait to see you continue your journey.
I am so happy that you are also on the journey of self improvement. I see comments asking for you to finish the boxes-but I´m perfectly fine waiting on that content. This video couldn´t have come at a better time. I´ve been overweight for most of the past 13 years and through this time I researched similar content about color pallet, where it should hit at your body etc-but I never really stuck with it. I always imagine an outfit how it would have fit me then rather than my large now. I don´t like wearing a lot of layers either-so it´s been a challenge. Time and time again I´ve gotten fed up with myself and swear I´ll stop being frumpy yet here I am frumpy champ still. Seeing your excitement and having you remind me of these choices-I am eager to find my pallet again and start over. Also-the brown jacket looks great on you and I love your new coat!
Oh my this video spoke to me. I also have purchased items with the intent to cover up and then I tend to hang onto these items even though I know they don't fit properly or make me feel good. I have been wanting to make a change for a long time and you have inspired me to do it. Your new coat looks amazing on you!
Classy Yet Trendy also has a great affordable capsule wardrobe system and Kay Harms - Dressed for my Day - love her. I know there are lots. I too have been down a rabbit hole trying to find my style to reduce and refine my wardrobe. I feel like I’m starting to nail it but need to sort my health/weight out too
I just went through one of my closets. I had already decluttered it. I just needed to put like items together. It looks great now. I love minimalism. Thank you for helping me.
This was a fun video. It is fun to figure out what looks the best, and makes you feel good. One thing I can suggest is getting a good fitting bra. Get measured at a really good store. Being larger busted, a good fitting bra will be a game changer! Your clothes will look better, it is slimming and sexy! At least it was for me. My favorite bras are Wacoal. They last a long time with good care.
So happy you did this ! In the previous video on your wardrobe,I noticed you were favoring a style that I call "the sack" where you cover up and drape yourself in shapeless fabrics that hide your figure. Your new outfits look soooo good on you !!!! Keep it up!

I missed seeing you last week. The transformation of so many areas of your life in this past year has been inspiring. Cheering you on from Ohio!
I have been watching your channel since you first started decluttering your basement in the previous house. You have come a long way and I truly enjoy watching your journey and you inspire me to question my past discussions. 👍🥰
Absolutely LOVE the anniversary sweater / bodysuit pairing!! 😍👏. It’s a gorgeous sweater, especially given the sweet sentiment behind it.
Thank you Erica. Keep keeping it real! You are inspiring so many people to embrace their real selves. I feel like I'm just hanging with a friend, shooting the breeze when I watch your videos.
I've already seen this video like 3 times, you're the only one relatable.
That coat looks awesome on you! Also please please please have these conversations with your daughter (and sons) about learning to love and accept your body for what it is.
Well done! I am so happy that you are doing this for yourself. Love from Sweden.
The new winter coat is beautiful and very flattering.
What a fabulous revelation to have ! It makes me want to look at my wardrobe in a new way !!
On a side note that rose/coral pink top youre wearing looks SO STUNNING on you. Seriously. Especially with your hair colour.
Her skin looks amazing in that color too🧡
Really like a couple of your blazers & sweaters.
The new coat is perfect! Really fits you so well and shows off your hour glass figure!!
I love your long cardigans. I’ve been on the search for the perfect one.
So do I, hoping to find one
Awesome job on figuring out your style! I did this a couple years ago too!
I've never been overweight, but I was doing the same thing as you - covering up. I didn't want naughty boy's attention and felt like dressing frumpy would deter it. I also had low self-esteem, and felt like it kept me invisible.
Well, I've been married ten years now, and it's a blast getting my wonderful husband excited just by looking at me. LoL. (And I'm still very modest too.)
Your daughter is awesome.
That coat is absolutely beautiful on you!! Love it! Great choice ☺️👌
And I’m LOVING your new coat :) ❤️
I’m currently 39 weeks pregnant so my wardrobe at the moment consists of anything that fits my huge bump - but I’m squirrelling away all your tips and ideas so once my body stabilises after baby arrives I’m gonna revisit my wardrobe :)
You are a beautiful woman, Erica! You inspire so many ladies! Thank you❤
I love this video for so many reasons!
This is very important. I wish every teen girl could learn about dressing for body style.
Love the coat and the polka dots. Yeah!
I’m so excited for you! Hiding is no fun. You should show off your shape and be proud of it ❤️
Thank you for passing on your knowledge and your confidence. We as women need these body positive messages in our lives.
Thank you Erica for taking us with you on this evolving journey! Very inspiring!🙏🏻💕
🤗💜👏🏻 Keep it up ,
Missy!
I'm liking your new style. Would love a style show.
I LOVE your new winter coat!!!! It looks sooo very nice on you!!! You are a very pretty ,fashionable Mom!!!!
That new coat looks great on you! Definitely a keeper.
It is so much fun watching the changes you are going through! So inspiring, you are beautiful inside and out!
Keep it up!
