MK7 VW Golf 1.4TSI - Resonator Delete

- Hey folks, so this video quickly shows the difference in the exhaust note after the MK7 1.4TSI VW Golf has had a resonator delete.
There is a noticeable difference in the tone during a Cold Start and then the raspy sound comes through higher up in the revs. In normal auto drive mode the in-cabin sound is negligible being pretty much the same as stock and the car presents almost stock characteristics inside and out. In the sports shifting mode there is a little more in-cabin noise (not droning or over-bearing like some other cars) and has a soft raspy tone to the exhaust note. For the full sound experience use the manual shift function with the DSG allows you to reach a higher RPM to let the engine be heard more. In cabin it still isn't that bad and helps provide a little more character to an otherwise muted vehicle.
Similar results would be likely across other generation Golfs.
The work was done by a local exhaust shop so this isn't exactly a DIY video but the end result is the same.

Thanks for watching!!!
I’d put that resonator back on 😂
Have since sold the car, so someone else's issue now. :-)
Cracking Gate whatcha driving now?
yep sounds horrible

@@CrackingGate junk
i jumped out my seat at the res delete 😂❤ that was wild that thing sounds monsterous
indeed, most Golfs are crazy grocery-getters....
Well the video there is when the engine is cold, ofcourse it will be raspy.😅 Would be better if you posted the sound when the engine is warm.
Best regards a A3 8V 1.4TFSI owner with resonator delete :) sounds fantastic, I have cold starts videos on my channel
Yeah I might throw together a vid with some shots of it warm.... some dynamic shots and fly-bys etc.... certainly perks the car up. I have heard the tune for the 90TSI livens the car up a great deal so looking into that.
Cracking Gate Done that👍🏼 Found a file on 170hp/300nm. I have the resonator delte and MST filter kit. So it has theoretically 180hp. But performs like a 160hp.
8.0s to 100👍🏼 1.3s faster
That’s sounds awful in this drive off
Correct, ideally upgrading the whole exhaust system would gain the best results in terms of efficiency and sound. For a low cost option though the resonator delete does help increase the exhaust sound.
There's definitely more than just a resonator delete happening, maybe a crack in the exhaust somewhere that's the tinniest res delete I've ever heard on a golf
RICE
German Rice, Yes. 😉
You would need Panadol to sooth your headache after driving that car.
VW quality.... 🙂
This exhaust had some problems
not just the exhaust, whole car was pretty ordinary.
Did you remove both CAT and resonator?
No, was just the resonator.
Quick question dude, the muffler it self is stock ?
sure was.
@@CrackingGate i was just about to get one 1.4 tsi. Any reason why u move to hyundai ?
The N was just a much better car for the money.
made a golf sound like a honda
could say it has been tuned.... 🤔
Hahahahahahhahahaah 1:38 no speed
Yeah not driven flat knacker like most DSG fans.... just rev it out slowly. 🙂
Is a res delete bad for your car?
There is a slight reduction in back pressure in the exhaust and a little more sound. Power gains are negligible but combined with a tune you could see a noticeable increase in power intially. This modification is reversible if you have a flange welded to your resonator so you can then unbolt the straight section and refit the resonator. The car drives much the same otherwise and seems to behave like normal.
Quick question plz : does the mk7 rear silencer same as the mk6 one ?
no
Was this with stock muffler as well?
stoch as rock 😂😂😂
LMFAO, sounds like farts
Sweet sound of VW..... 😂
What site did you get that off, I have the same car and can’t find one anywhere
A local exhaust shop can do the work for you. In the US it would be less than $100, here in AUS about $120.
Sound and body not match even not the speed
That is correct. It is a Golf after all.
Have you had any issues with the car or engine?
Not for the time I owned it. For an economy car it is ok.
Is that manual and do you have drone sound inside. I have the same car but can’t find
Nah no drone. It was a 7 speed DSG, just hold it in gear and rev the crap out of it.
🤮🤮🤮
The finest german quality.... 👌😂
