Walkie Talkie is the current living document of the New York street scene. Mad love. Paulie you're ripping
Good
Totally agree. It’s so important that he’s documenting NY’s street scene in my opinion
I like Ribsy's pattern "Hi, . . Can I take your picture? I'm shooting on film, so don't worry about this meter"
Ribsy's ability to relate to people from all cultures and of all ages is commendable. What a fantastic Walkie Talkie.
The moment at 21:13 is just amazing. To get it on film so we can all also be a part of it is really special, and is a microcosm of what makes this video series one of the best things on this platform. Cheers Ribsy, cheers Paulie
Ribsys energy made me want to go engage people. I also have to say, native New Yorkers are different....love the interactions
Yes
i don't comment often but I loved his integrity and honesty in his approach to capturing people on the streets especially his sensitivity to photographing women. mad props
“The internet is the best and the worst thing for artists.”
Really interesting point. It must take discipline to not be sucked into doing what will generate approval on social media rather than the work you really want on a personal level. If you genuinely post a series of streets portraits representative of a community, but then the one portrait of the attractive young woman gets 10 times the engagement of everything else, it’s gotta take quite a bit of discipline not to be influenced by that even on a subconscious level when going out to create work in the future.
100%! Especially when money is involved as well. Artists need to eat & pay rent too. When a certain style or subject gets them more attention & money it's hard to resist that...
To me Ribs is one of the most honest and well leveled photographers online right now. He has a great attitude towards life and I've already been trying to get him out here to Tokyo. Good work guys 👏👏
I’ll coming to holla at y’all in Tokyo soon!
This easygoing way of talking and photographing strangers is a level of charisma we can only dream of achieving.
Ribs is the kind of dude who makes you want to get out and shoot asap. He's a talented cat, I wish him all the best on his journey.
Love his commentary on having to respect your subject. That's so important because as the photographer you have a responsibility to portray the subject to the world with dignity, love, and respect.
I agree. There was this guy on another episode of Walkie Talkie who would just flash people in their face and then basically run off and it seemed so cheap and disrespectful.
This has been the best episode that I've seen so far. As someone who is okay at shooting street and doesn't really do the portraiture thing, his approach his great, his photos are fantastic from the shoot and I relate to a lot of what this guy is talking about.
When Ribsy mentioned you're not entitled to every photo, I thought of the Middle East. Culturally if you see someone, you greet them. If they greet you first, you give them an equal or better greeting. It goes back to the Qur'an 4:86: "'And when you are greeted with a salutation, greet with one better than it, or return the same." So if you roll up like those guys that do flash, and run and gun without a hi or bye, it's extremely offensive.
This makes me think of that tweet of the guy matching his iraqi bodega guy's enthusiasm "the big boss himself, where have you been hiding?" "at school, where i missed you so dearly" "habibi you are my number one guy" i will never betray you" "king of my heart and the true big boss"
@@josephcurry4891 It's such a warm culture. I went to shwarma shop, busted out Arabic & got a free smoothie on top of it.
This is one of my favorite ones so far. His approach is awesome, his empathy is amazing, he loves the people he's trying to capture and it comes across. I think that respect comes a long way for what he's trying to do. Maybe it's in my head, but the hunger of some of the younger photographers ends up being a little off putting to me, and when i see people my age or older with a little bit more grounded approach it feels good, and inspiring really.
Yo the lizard struck a pose with the dude! 😂 that was fire
Great. One of my favorite episodes. Loved that you guys went up to The Heights.
Paulie you have the best channel and you cover the coolest people. Hats off to you bro
I’m usually not into street portraits but I like to mix it in every once in a while. So it’s nice to see a photographer that does it really well
I love this guy- I love his consensual photography - great energy - he respects his subjects - his artwork is great
This is my first TH-cam comment ever haha! . Paulie you da man. Thank you for sharing all that you do. So dope to see another Dominican making beautiful photos in NY. Real happy to learn about Ribsy and see his work. What a genuine and sweet dude. Mad swag in this episode. Inspires me to go back home to Queens and make photos! Big love man :)
My guy Ribsy! The second best walkie talkie behind mine! 😂😂😂😂
"the internet will beat you up, man" i love this dude. also true, and very well put
Ribsy is a cool cat! Super respectful to everyone on the streets which puts off a great vibe. Definitely taking some of his techniques when approaching people moving forward.
Ps another great episode Paulie. Your skills in interviewing is no doubt what makes the photographers really shine in these ✌🏼
What he mentioned about taking photos in London is very true. From a non US person - I feel like you could not approach people the same way that most photographers do in these interviews anywhere else bar NYC or the states in general. I loved the way he interacted and talked to people
The most insightful video of the WT series, Paulie is being a good interviewer by knowing when to ask a question and when to let the person reveal himself
Ribsy is such a cool dude. It def helps that he looks like a giant teddy bear 🧸 😂all the best to him. Waiting on his book to drop
What a great guy.... So much positive energy. It comes right through in his images. Awesome episode.
Ribsy talking about the mental block and worrying too much is exactly the thing I needed to hear. Love this vibe
Such a cool guy, love the respect he has for people, all people. Really interesting chat about the morals of taking photos of people on the street and the who can take photos in areas where not everyone will be well received. Great walkie talkie, really hope we continue to see Ribsy in his journey into new areas after his course. 💪🤓👍
My man seems like a genuinely amazing guy, really inspiring
This is my absolutely favourite episode ever! Ribsy‘s Portraits are stuuunning man. Paulie! Thank you so much for doing all this!
What a great genuine person Ribsy is! Was a real pleasure watching this episode of walkie-talkie, Paulie! I’m very greedy on likes, but this one was a Like from the getgo! Great job!👌👍
Ribsy is so cool and down to earth. His energy and good vibes is the kind of person you want to connect with. Great Vid ✌
This channel is...by far......one of the coolest channels on YT.
And this guy too.
Very charismatic and his shots are superb.
Thanks so much for sharing
I'm on 16:16 when I pause and leave this comment, I can feel his enthusiasm and I love watching him working on the street, thank you !
I m a B&W film guy but Risby you are making the color look good. Nice work.
Love the vid. Trees growing out of heads happen even to experienced guys like Ribsy, some of my favourite portraits have that… Hats off for the Spanish skills!

RIBSY SPEAKING BIG FACTS WHEN HE WAS TALKING ABOUT THE STREET PHOTOGRAPHERS WHO FEEL ENTITLED TO TAKE ANY PHOTO OF ANYONE!! SHOOTING IN THE SAFE STREETS...BUT WHEN YOU SHOOT IN THE HOOD, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HOW BRAVE THEY ARE TO GET THEM SHOTS! MUCH RESPECT!!!💯🤘🏾🤘🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾👊🏾
16:00 that entire interaction was funny as hell!
Great interview. Thanks for the content Paulie. Ribsy is awesome.
Great video. Ribsy's talk and photos are so good. Thanks for bringing him back to walk and talk.
Loved this video so much. concept is so so so good
Great to finally put a face to the name. His portraits are some of my favorites, you can see the attention and consideration in his work.
Really enjoyed that one, so much so I watched it from the begining again straight away and I've never done that before 😊
Thanks.

Ribsy is awesome! I love these videos. They introduce me to new people to follow!
Just this past week i was craving a Walkie Talkie episode and i was happy to see it today.
The energy felt 3000 miles away(light the beam!!) is incredible.
On my lunch today, I pulled my camera out of the bag and took a few shots of basically nothing just cause of the inspiration.
This series is easily one of my favorite photography based shows on TH-cam.
One of fav's of the whole series! Dude is a vibe.
Man, do I love Ribs! Always motivates me to create, he's always chill
Let’s go 💪🏻 walkie talkie series always 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great interview! Another unkown to me but great vibe! Thanks Paulie!
Love this, love this guy's vibe
I loved this episode, Ribsy is very thoughtful of his subjects and environment, he's mindful and engaging with respect to those whom he captures and interacts with, a breath of fresh air. I really dig his approach and style.
Paulie, this was outstanding! What a cool guy, great rapport with the people, loads of interesting info and his work is brilliant👍
Great episode. Found a new photographer, loved his energy. Thanks!
Ribsy rocks, really glad to see this kind of in-depth look at his work and thought processes
YES! RIBSY!!! What a fantastic person. Thank you so much for creating this!
The comment about “I like to capture moments of all races because I grew up around all races” or something along those lines, really stuck out to me and I can relate to
Loved how he connects with people. Got me hyped to do the same when I got shooting sometimes
Dope Ep. appreciate the content! Shoutout Ribsy!
To be able to talk to someone in another language not native to yours and them laugh is beautiful
Spanish is my native language - but your point is a good one 😊
Fantastic Ribsy, so human
So good Paulie and Ribsy!
Cool episode. Love the energy.
Brilliant, just brilliant. Thank you Ribsy and Paulie. All the best from the UK. Simon
I love when he ran out of film he didn't immediately whip out a M6. I love my canon rebel 2000

Ribsy is awesome! Next up would love to see a female photographer!!!
Yeah this is great! He’s done Poupay. She was great! And a couple more women. I would love to see a Black woman.

Greetings from South Africa
Instant love with this man. My love for street photography increased by 1000
What a charismatic guy. Great episode.
Dude, that bearded dragon was heavy chillin on the scooter.

Paulie keep doing your thing man these videos are a neccesity for me now 🔥
Really enjoyed this one!
Paulie you are creating an amazing catalogue of NY's finest. For someone who will probably never shoot in NY I love watching these (although completely jealous)! Best thing on TH-cam right now.
My favorite episode so far.
“Keep you alive forever.” Wow well said ❤️
Already said it, will say it again, this serie is the best photography video serie right now !
Cherrs from France !
This was dope. Great video!
Awesome! I've been following Ribsy for a while on youtube and instagram. He seems like such a cool, chill, and all around genuine guy, and it's fun to watch him from the outisde since most of his videos are first person. It's a shame he's taking a break from youtube, (per a recent threads post) but i'll still be checking out his photos on his other socials.
Love it! You were right in my neighborhood. ❤
Honestly this episode got me pausing and rewinding back a hell of a lot to look at the photos and damn medium format is something else! Wicked episode!
Ribsy so cool. The lizard pic was awesome!
This is one of my favorite videos

The story sold itself!✌🏽
