48,187 fans were helping Hardy to get across home plate. The other 6 million Marylanders were swinging their right arms in wind mill fashion as he rounded third. Delmon Young was a beast. My favorite single play in baseball and yes I was old enough to catch Kurt Gibson's '88 game 1 blast.
Man, the only thing that could have possibly made this moment better, though I seriously doubt it, would have been if Delmon had hit a grand slam. But it would take away the thrill of J.J. running with all his might and making such a perfect slide.
Sean Brower Nah the excitement of Hardy rounding the bases and whether or not he'd be safe at home or not was so much excitement and everything that makes baseball great. A grand slam would have been nice but this was clearly more exciting to watch.

The O's are on their way with a foundation-up rebuild under smart leadership, but as an O's fan, I can't wait until we pack a post-season OPACY again and make it audible from other planets.
Between a solid young OF with Mountcastle, Hays, Santander, Mullins & Diaz, and an absolute wealth of high potential young arms in Means, Akin, Kremer, Tanner Scott, H Harvey, M.
