Was reminded of this song today and had to come find it, cause thru the years, my album disappeared!!!! Phenomenal is phenomenal, even thru space and time. Wish he hadnt lost his life so young. Can't begin to imagine what would have been!! First time I saw the Allman Brothers, they were just taking off. Tickets to their concert was my 21 St birthday present. Small small venue in a little country town in Ky. MAYBE, 100 people. There wasn't even anyone there to take our tickets. Walked right down to the front row, which was maybe 5 feet from the stage and listened to them slap tear it up!! Didn't matter to them that there was only a handful of us, they played for about an hour, walked back to the corner of the stage, had some " refreshments" ha, ha, along with us, got back up played some more, took another toke, then played some more!!! It was unbelievable!! Prob around 3 hours! The following year, they were playing to sold out arenas!!!!! Love you, Duane, Gregg and Barry and Butch!!! R.I.P.
Good Heavens. If you've never had a broken heart, you'll surely know what it's like after hearing this. So heart-wrenchingly beautiful. And Duane's guitar-singin' is incredible as always
Unbelievable how good this is. The emotional conveyance of 'Loan Me a Dime' coupled with one of the best outro solos in the history of music make this a song for the ages.
One of the all time great performances. Boz and Duane deserve the praise they've received for this cut, but the Memphis Horns and Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section lift this up another notch. They're fantastic.
It's spelled *Fenton* btw. Excellent, thanks for posting. I play along with this every time I hear it and every time I learn another nuance on the guitar, taught by the master Skydog.
One of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE songs!! I’ve seen Bozz perform this twice in live concerts but Duane plays so painfully beautiful♥️♥️♥️ And we’ll never get to see.☹️
all you around St.Louis, remember every friday nite at 11:45,KSHE radio station would play this song? Mark Close would say "as usual" and the piano would start. The D.J.'s would step out back for a smoke and update info.classic times.
Such an elaborate jam that hauls down everything that's done before. I can play this over and over again just to satisfy my eager of real blues, Because it's white don't put this off. White guys do have the blues at times too. It's not privileged to blacks only.
Oh, Tommy!! So sorry! I was so excited to find this, I forgot to thank the one who made it possible to find!!! Thank you, friend!! Much appreciated. Gonna go find me some Whipping Post, then probably some Statesboro Blues, followed up with some Midnight Rider... Yeah, all those disappeared thru the years as well!! Loving me some YT right about now!!! Thanks again.
No doubt they are Fenton's lyrics. On the Anthology album of Duane Allman's work, credit is given as it should be. Behind Brother Duane playing some of the most searing righteous blues of his career, Boz does a slow burning blues cover of the lyrics.
Why hang around here? Try to find a "I hate Boz" website, and go there. I usually don't post negative vibes, but you pressed me to it. Go to You Tube sights that you like and post positive thoughts, please. Go to Fenton Robinson's You Tube sights and enjoy him. The music is here for us to enjoy, not to trash.
To all of those who have verbally abused me for pointing out a well known fact, please go to All Music Guide and look up Fenton Robinson's bio from which I quote, "But it was his stunning slow blues "Somebody (Loan Me a Dime)" cut in 1967 for Palos, that insured his blues immortality. Boz Scaggs liked it so much that he covered it for his 1969 debut LP. Unfortunately, he initially also claimed he wrote the tune; much litigation followed. "
Boz Scaggs lifted Fenton Robinson's lyrics from his 1967 tune and married them with a generic minor key progression instead of Robinson's changes which had more movement. Yet, lo and behold, Duane is able to rescue the effort with a brilliant solo. The only one who sounds uninspired is Scaggs. Way to go! Rip off a struggling but more talented blues artist and phone in your performance. No wonder he soon joined the disco sellout with memorable tracks like" Low Down". Thank goodness for Duane.
Sorry. I didn't realize this was a fan club. I don't usually post negative comments either but was "pressed" into it by the fact that someone thinks they can take another's copyrighted work without giving credit to the author and pass it off as their own. I'm sure even Boz and his management aren't crazy about the unauthorized use of his performance here. Try to have a nice day and appreciate that opinions other than your own have a right to be voiced.
Interesting. You cannot refute the fact that Boz tried to pass off someone else's work as his own so you engage in an ad hominum attack on the commenter. You have absolutely no way of knowing whether I'm angry or, as you say, give off negative vibes. You simply don't like the facts I present. As someone once said, "You are entitled to your own opinion but you are not entitled to your own facts."
Once you hear this version you never forget. I still remember where I was.
My pleasure. No one has ever matched Duane's skills and I totally agree about "a good day"
The one and only Brother Duane Allman. His guitar perfectly expresses the deep blues in Boz's lyrics. I've never heard it done better.
Great song!!! A little herb and some wine and your head gets ripped off your shoulders with the guitar!!
Cream of the crop!! My gosh this never gets old🔥

Miss you, Skydog. Love this. Thanks, 7, for the post. Anytime we can hear Duane play is a good day.
Æ-men, jùs såyîn ¡😎🥚😎¡

I opened for Boz when this album came out. What a great show!
Yeh, I remember when I first heard this song and phone calls were still a dime and my love affair with the blues was born

Sandra Smith - My pleasure. Makes my soulshine to hear from someone who appreciates the beauty of this song and performance.
thank you for this
fenton robinson , I think did this originally , excellent version
Love!
The soul of the blues defined. Unwittingly by these white boys but they did. No boundaries with the blues when you love it.
Oh, So Fine.... Thanks much~.~
Eat a Peach is legend. Anthologies are compilation. I believe the work needs to stand on its own feet. No props
Wowwww
Somebody loan me their I-phone!
@kperk014
Yep, the Muscle Shoals swampers "have been known to play some music too".
No doubt they are Fenton's lyrics. On the Anthology album of Duane Allman's work, credit is given as it should be. Behind Brother Duane playing some of the most searing righteous blues of his career, Boz does a slow burning blues cover of the lyrics.
Skydog RIP
The best 'white' blues ever!
geil ...........
smooth
anthology is the greatest album, although, so is Eat a Peach
not to forget the Memphis horns
I can't remember that!!
They are Fenton Robinson's lyrics NOT BOZ'S, Fenton is a great old blues man.

different production than on the Boz Scaggs album
А что тут скажешь...
Brother Duane says it all.
Read the comments about Fenton Robinson. If we're going to talk "borrowing" I would have to mention that this sounds an awful lot like Peter Green.
Skydog all the way bro'
as BB KING himself
Boz Scaggs lifted Fenton Robinson's lyrics from his 1967 tune and married them with a generic minor key progression instead of Robinson's changes which had more movement. Yet, lo and behold, Duane is able to rescue the effort with a brilliant solo.

Bios and Dwayne does not get any better
Hmm sure did go well together, the Bees knee's, nuff said eh?
Shine on your crazy Diamond anyone ^^
Gilmour must have been heavily influenced by this one ^^
Is this the infamous kperk of D2 ?

Fenton Robinson, The thrill is gone. Yes he wrote the lyrics to this song, Southern Rock You got to love it!
i have those pants . . .
the plaid
there is said that it was written by Fenton :-) So what is problem ? everybody should stop recording covers ? Boz sounds great, you sound a bit angry
neponovljivo,neprocenljivo..
You're the one expressing negative vibes. I'm just saying, enjoy, and try not to be critical. You sound angry.
