All they complain about is money and what they had saved before they retired is beginning to run low. The government isn’t your friend. It’s better for them if you die and they can get at your remaining money, then let those that invade the country and stay are easier to control and order around. The baby boomer generation gained most of its wealth by borrowing to purchase a house. Not all debt is bad. I have a balance of 60K on my mortgage. No way on earth I could have bought this place except with debt. It is currently worth about 1.2 million. I am way better off than if I had rented. I have purchased 7 properties, each with debt and my profit on each far exceeded debt service. Rarely is debt on property a bad thing unless it is a risky investment going into it.

    • @isaacholzwarth
      @isaacholzwarth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Andrew-ro6cr That's flat out wrong. Now I admit that SOME things he teaches are extreme. We still use credit cards, but we pay them in full monthly. But Dave is 100% correct that we would be better off without them and that they cause more harm than good by getting people to think that having a good "credit score" means you're financially responsible. He's also correct that no one should ever, under any circumstances lease something like a car that depreciates. Pay in full for a cheap car, move up when you can afford. Don't buy a house unless you can truly afford the payments, under no circumstance should your mortgage payment be more than half you're income. Live within your means, be responsible. Yes his baby steps and extreme "beans and rice" mentality is for people who are in debt, but the same mentality and common sense attitude keeps you out of debt as well. People discount him as a crazy person because we live in a world where you finance your car, finance your TV, finance your house, finance your home improvements, finance your furniture, finance your life with credit card debt. We should all be trying to live as if personal debt doesn't exist. I will also say that some business debt can be useful, but it is a high risk, high reward situation. Student loans are another thing that should not be used, the ends do not justify the means, that is obvious looking at the numbers! Dave is right more than he is wrong, even if he's a little extreme at times, because nobody is right about everything. I call tell you from personal experience that it's hard to have good control of your finances and live without debt, but it's worth it. It's why my wife and I own a small house and have cheap cars payed in full even though we don't make very much. It's all about priorities, and that's what Dave has right.

If a husband puts his foot down and tries to tell his wife "we need to spend less because of inflation" or "we need to lower our lifestyle to avoid the debt" then it is LIKELY that the marriage will end in divorce. That is what is likely to happen. And that isn't spoken very often on Dave's show.
      You can't do the baby steps if only one person in a marriage is willing to do it. And you can't reduce the debt if at least one person in the marriage is thinking that (someday) they will be dead and it wont make any difference how much debt they have!

      Well with this economy the dollar is losing value day by day. During a good economy you would be totally right. But right now...the longer you hold onto a dollar the less it will be worth. That’s why people need to understand investing as much as they understand saving.
      However, the choice to do what you will with your money is on you. I never want to tell one how to spend their money. Just my thoughts.
      Knowing when/what/and how much to invest and knowing how much to save is important I’d say.

    Inflation sucks but for our household, it’s just a matter of how much we can save not ‘which bill do I have to go delinquent on’. Our mindset shift has substantially changed our family’s outlook and insulated us from the worries of living paycheck to paycheck.

    The federal government has gotten far too big. We need a massive reduction in Government spending or else the government will fail and Americans' standard of living will drastically decline with excessive tax burden to businesses and individuals alike. Every single government job increases the burden on every non-government worker. This expansion in DC is UNSUSTAINABLE. In the early 80's when I was a kid my mom bought many of our clothes from garage sales. My first couple of bikes were used. We didn't have a monthly cable TV bill. When I wanted something I had to earn it unless it was my birthday. If we got fast food once a week it was a rare occasion. None of us had cell phones. There was no amazon truck and I think I saw UPS pull in our driveway twice. I didn't know what was a fashionable brand of shoes was because I was just glad I got a set of new shoes at all. Our family cars were paid in cash. If they were broke Dad and I spent hot summer days under them until they were fixed. We weren't poor. I knew kids worse off than us. People just weren't entitled to a lifestyle back then and if you couldn't pay your bills your name on the bounced check was pinned at the cash register for the rest of the town to see. For most that shame kept them from spending outside their means. A lot of that is lost today.

      Dave is wrong about the details though. He told people to sell their gold before it went parabolic and hit record highs. He also advocates managed mutual funds over the SP500 even though the latter almost always outperforms the former. Even more so when you consider that managed funds take a fee whereas the SP500 ETFs do not.
      Dave also was wrong about the 2008 housing crisis and has said "real estate doesn't go down". Even once the Great Recession happened, he said "only once has real estate gone down and it wont go down again". It is like he learned nothing from his previous mistake. Also, his cult followers never call him on his BS.

      Dave doesn't believe cash is king. He thinks, outside of an emergency fund, people should be near 100% invested in stocks (managed mutual funds from firms he associates with; SURPRISE! He gets a commission!)
      He is against bonds and has never told people they should max out I bonds even though they are paying 9.62% of guaranteed yield right now.

    " crash" of 2008...how sightless. The housing market was artificially inflated due to the end of regulation on mortgage qualifications. Profeting the greedy property tax collectors and broker/realtors ONLY, while being single- handedly, the biggest contributor to the decline of life in America ...when those dumb enough to buy these over priced houses, contributing to the crisis ( if you don buy into it, it will correct itself, but the more that buy into it, the more it stabalizes into " a thing") ...those that did and then couldn't pay their mortgages lost their homes,, causing a " crisis" of tax dollar bailouts and the housing market slightly correcting itself...It hasn't corrected enough people! Wake up! We need regulations on mortgages. They need to be 30 yrs and limited to your expenses of mortgages/ insurance/ taxes not amounting to mre than 30% of your income. That will reduce the cost of housing and bring back a much less stressful and homeless America. I would add that property taxes have got to go! Does that mean the services covered by property taxes will go? Not at all, it simply means that the gov. Is not our landlords! And they cannot raise the "value" of our house. To whatever suits them and force any property tax they want on us and even if we paid off our mortgage for 30 yrs, they can't take our homes because we can no longer afford their tax on it...which makes farmers and senior citizens forced to loose the land they've owned for generations and forces us out of retirement and into senior care facility he!!..which is in large part gov. Funded! So they put them in there due to them being unable to pay taxes, then spend more then they had to gain on keeping them in there🤔 What we really need is an end to sales tax as well, because everything is bought and sold, its a constant picking of our pockets. And end to putting annual excess of our social funds into bonds that can only be used by the gov....making them more hidden tax theft and reducing availabilty for the social programs to serve their purpose! ( thats a whole different conversation) bottom line is the taxes pulled in by our government needs to be transparent and predictable. It needs not to punish people for keeping their homes nice. Having disabilities or eliminating the possibility of retirement, and the way to do that is a flat tax, with a ceiling of 30% of our total income and it needs to be limited to that years earned income. Think of how our manufacturing can return to America, because the buisness owners have no tax deductions. They pay the same flat tax that we pay, but they only pay it on their personal earnings, they don't have to pay it on gross buisness income and then pay all the costs of the buisness out of whatever is less...which isn't much. Trump lowered their tax load to 32% and everone had a fit. Think about it. All the overhead of owning a buisness,; employees etc, but you have to pay over 32% of what it takes in to the government first...and then you are supposed to pay taxes on you actual income from the buisness! It will help everyone if we go to a flat tax with a ceiling. Maybe 12% to fed and 18% to state & local taxes. Get the housing mkt under control. Eliminate all the confusing tax forms n dedunctions etc...and the IRS harrassment and excessive fee theft! We can do this people, we can take charge of this out of control government! We may never actually have representation by our elected officials, that actually are just faces of the oligarcs that give them millions in lobbying etc to do their bidding, but we can control how much they infringe on us.
