So, at 3:30, for all you players wondering, yes, us DMs absolutely do this. I ask for perception rolls when there is nothing happening all the time. More fun facts, if you do get particularly good or bad rolls, something might end up happening anyway. Most DMs do not have things nearly as nailed down as you think, because parties are bastions of chaos, and will destroy any railroad you make, unless it is so subtle they don't know they are on it. So yeah, vague plans of what could happen, not much else.
Paranoid players are the ultimate improv tool for a dm.
We know when the DM asks us to role perception that something’s going to go down

Copper Infamy: The guard is after you and intends arrest.
Electrum Infamy: The guard is out for blood.
Silver Infamy: Bounty hunters have been sent out, dead or alive.
Gold Infamy: One or two adventurers are looking for you.
Platinum Infamy: Entire other adventuring parties are coming for you.

I also been working on what I call the Hunt system. Were if they players annoy the BBEG and interfer with their plans enough they get to meet the lvl 15, wanted to still give them a chance, bounty hunter character I made to make them try to cover their tracks, and possible terrify them since encounters with the bounty hunter will be ambushes with gun fire, since bounty hunter is an artificer. Will be testing it out soon

@@irishspartanstudios expecially since I made said artificer a lizardfolk who only cares about the thrill of the hunt to not only because it sounds cool, also so the party can't bribe the bounty hunter since all he wants is to take a trophy from them, like a finger or tooth or rib bone, feast on the rest and leave just enough to claim the bounty
That’s it I’m gonna make a government operative solid snake style rouge as my next character. This is competing with:
The valor bard who tells stories of great heroes and uses their deeds to motivate others.
The hyper brutal “god may forgive you, I won’t” war cleric
The town guard fighter who has a high investigation skill and acts like both a detective and a swat officer
I learned that a level 9 character, 6 paladin and 3 fighter let's you hit upwards of 250 damage if you crit every attack in a turn
how would you get that high of damage?
You get 4 attacks in a turn due to action surge, on top of that you can divine smite every attack and at level 6 paladin 2 of those are 2nd level. On top of this is you are a rune knight fighter you can add 1d6 from giants might and another 2d6 with the fire rune. You can pair this with great weapons master from your asi as a paladin and add a base 40 damage
@13:03 what our Campaigns tend to have are Town/kingdom champions. they arent gaurds but strong individuals the gaurds can call in for assists if there are strong creatures creating havock in town. So if the party gets to strong for the gaurds a champion will show up and they are garanteed to be stronger than the party
Guards with pack tactics is another viable method. Riot formations commence!
Yup - plenty of standard tropes of characters who would be expected to tackle excessive threats.
An order of elite paladins in service to the king, a royal wizard, a spymaster and his elite rogues, etc.
And it doesn't have to be natural - plenty of nominally friendly creatures of great power that would become a threat to the party if the party is essentially acting evil or lawless. Woe betide the party that refuses to respect the law in the domain of a golden dragon, for example.

0:35 me and my friends actually did a smash or pass of the monster manual and got through most of the book with a pretty solid 50/50 ratio for everyone to absolutely nobodys surprise all of us main charisma based classes and two of us specifically main bards.

I would counter players being criminals by increasing bounties, thus attracting more and more powerful bounty hunters
ooooh... a really mean way to implement that last idea would be to make assassins that just track them and keep their distance, firing longbow shots with sharpshooter.
Unless they hand themselves in to recompensate their unlawful deeds, they'll continue being hunted at the most inopportune times, failing a lookout or hiding their camp = they won't get a long rest. just to really punish wickedness.

Regarding that first one, I've had ideas playing female characters but I'm always discouraged from doing it because I like my character to have a voice that I do and I can't do a women's voice and it would feel weird to me not doing a voice for a character

Quincy is my favorite in the history of the world. I’ve put him in a few of my campaigns as a reference and even the people who don’t know him love him!
@4:20 I am pretty sure that even drinking a Poultice would be difficult, as they are usually a semi solid paste which you spread over the infection/wound.

2:15 kinda like my raven character I'm playing. Homebrewed in a +1 dex +1 wis 10 ft move 50 ft fly raven character to a campaign. She started off with nothing, literally, and now she is the party's packmule to an extent, thanks to two different bags of holding, and one of the bags of holding is filled with eternal fire, making it a murder weapon, torture chamber, and a hatchery for the dragons immune to fire damage.
I just would like to share some chaos in our current campaign:
I'm currently the only adult character in the campaign my other allies and the rest of people I the campaign are playing as 12 year old children😭
Choosing to be the chaotic children our dm has granted me child leashes so my "children" don't commit a felony and screw up the plot. :) ...they still found a way though...
(We also spent a entire session on a self inflicted quest to find a dragon a hat)

That teifling art, I have a few characters who would vibe with that
I have a red dragon named Clover and he had 4 exhaustion from flying across with his party to save someone, so while my party was hijacking a semi truck to get them back and head to the facility to take it down, I was napping in the passenger seat.
currently 10 sessions into a campaign (2 sessions for my pc) and next session our level 2 party is going to be running away from a verry pissed off level 20 bbeg whilst leaving one of the party members behind because their unconscious and naked.
On the Harry Potter Wizard thing, are Wizards from that still Wizards in DND? Given the way they get their magic I wonder if they're also part Warlock or Sorcerer??

reminds me a bit of Rincewind from the Discworld books, he has the sapient spells from the dawn of time, when the Creator created with them, trapped in his brain; the spells don't want to risk getting forgotten so they keep him from learning any other spells at all; that, plus his having accessed the forbidden grimoire where the sapient spells were originally locked up, got him expelled from the wizard university, but he doesn't want to give up so he wears wizardy clothes with a wizard-looking hat that has WIZZARD (sic) stitched on it and stars and spangles stitched all over
most magic systems dont really fit dnd's very clear cut categories

if you play pathfinder. does a 37 hit. that may freinds is when you know its a high cr. and dead.
12:46 So, what I typically do if my players are acting like absolute murderhobos and get up to the equivalent of a 5* wanted level is turn all their victims into Revenants. A giant horde of zombies out with a vendetta against the party specifically, and more than one campaign has ended with the party holed up in a lone farmstead with hundreds of pissed off undead around them.

9:10 Dead parents do not a rogue makes. In my workshop, I have a rogue whose parents are both alive. You don't need dead parents to make a rogue or even an edgy character. Right now, the edgiest character I have is my bard. She's a tiefling born from humans that disowned her, so her sister took her in when she was ten. Seven years later, she was taken in by a group called the Gateway, a sex trafficking syndicate that disguises themselves (poorly at that) as a brothel chain, taking women all over the world just so they could be raped. These men even sell their captives, who still rape their new "slave," and my bard's sister was about to be sold. She intervened this auction, ended up in jail for three days, and was bailed out, able to see her sister again, tired but safe. She died a month later due to an illness, which broke her heart. All that's left of her that she carries are these lockets they made when she was seven.
