Lets be real, what else could the party do, this is clearly a severe pest control problem that could affect the rest of the neighborhood. The Deeps will just have to be intense pest control

We were given the ability to transform into inanimate objects... The campaign is nearing its end now, and we're getting ready for C2 with an actual traditional party of adventurers. And the mimics are dragons... *we've done it to ourselves*
Okay, as someone who grew up in the Boy Scouts and outdoors in general, was an Assistant Scoutmaster for a decade, and was a Maintenance Ranger at a State Park for half a decade, so has very little fear of creepy crawlies just due to exposure, my reaction to the whole "coming upon a house full of giant spiders" thing at 2:30 is to burn the house down. Not only that, but erect a fire barrier around the house just in case some get out, they still have to go through fire. Then judicious use of buckshot for any that somehow get through obstacles one and two. And just to make sure, flamethrower the buckshot bodies. Seriously, bugger that with a cestus .
My character would just open the door and try to lure the spiders out, or try the good old paper and cup method depending on the side of the spider lmao

I really wanna do a pc death mechanic that basically the pc talks to the player and asks what did they accomplish before they died and how did they die etc. Give the player and character time to say goodbye and actually fill each other in also allows the rest of the group to see the dichotomy of player and character.

in one game we were infiltrating a villainous high-class party organised by vampires, illithid, and a shadar-kai cult trying to restore the Dark Elf kingdom from before humans got there. the barbarian saw a giant brain on a platter and decided to poke it. you know exactly where this is going. the barbarian is affected by feeblemind, and we lug her out. there was like a 90% chance she''ll die, so i (a genasi who is spirit-bound to a collective of genasi spirits, kind of like an illithid hivemind) poured a potion of wildly unstable random magic down her throat. we later learned that she was magically transported to the last place she received healing magic, which would have been fine, if it wasn't for the fact that said location was a militant hobgoblin castle that we barely managed to escape alive from after assassinating their leader the session before.
@@davidparkes7741 we debated it, but the player was fine making a new character. she very quickly got cursed with the form of a cloud giant. considering she was a paladin, she was fine with it. she was also fine with the randomly-rolled curse where anything she wears becoems invisible. didn't get that one removed for at least 10 sessions. real trooper, that one
2:35 we just decided to destroy a trogolodite temple that's infested with roaches and the last surviving trogolodite priest (being used as a sewer by the town that resides above it) by blowing it up...
That one about the character talking to their player reminds me of my rouge who almost died session 1 to 2 crossbow bolts then failed 2 death saves...... The DM was kind enough to save my boy though....... But dear lord

My best guess is a peryton. Large claws, red eyes, cavern dweller...perytons eat the hearts of humanoids, so the chest hole tracks. The only thing that's off is the mucus.

Do not be another disappointment. PS: I died in this fight, but took him out after impaling him with my blade. I came back 7 days later, and the barbarian killed me for enraging the Orc... 7 days later, I came back and all was forgiven. I basically got timed out for 2 sessions.
