The new Zillion, maybe the even the JDM version. $250 right now on Digitaka, 6.3 ounces, made in Japan
You can get a Metanium from Digitaka for $244. If they're not sold out yet. Japan Lure Shop has them too. The Steez is even so much cheaper! The exchange rate is absolutely insane right now. I'd take advantage of it! If you're dedicated to Omnia I'd go with a Metanium or a Steez SV TW. If you have a rod like that you should put a really nice reel on it. Putting an SLX on a rod like that is like wearing a tuxedo with Chuck Taylors on your feet 😆

@@hunterbull7804 I would agree with everything except maybe think about the American version. The gears and handle are worth it for a more powerful setup, never thought about the weight when I switch between JDM but the gears and handle definitely. I will absolutely not argue about the price though haha, the Yen is getting shellacked. A little more torque from the handle and a bit beefier gears is kinda nice though. I've already bought aftermarket handles for my JDM zillions because they are a little tiny for certain things.
You finally did it! I just started watching your channel and going back a couple years you never thought you needed it, but anxious to hear how you like it now.
Zillion SV Tw is what I would have on it. They are light and smooth.

J I’ll second the Zillion. It would look awesome on that rod but aside from cosmetics, once you get that thing dialed in you don’t even have to thumb the spool. Super smooth and can cast a mile.

Sweet rod! I’ve got a few Metanium mgl’s, and they’re pretty tough to beat, for any bottom contact setups.
Unpackaging a new dobyns is literally better than Christmas as a child. You’re never disappointed. Just ordered a drx755 myself.

Heard a ton of positive things about that rod , I know Trey has several. If I were to buy one my reel (s) of choice would be ... Daiwa Steez Limited or the new Zillion. I have both of the reels and they are awesome for bottom contact , pitching/ skipping jigs.

I have an Abu Zenon MG-LTX on my 753, Antares DC on my 754, Metanium DC on my 755. Not sure what to put on my 721 spinning. Had a chat with Gary and he's awesome. Got me into a 784 Champ HP for jigging. Best jig rod by far.
Zillion SV. I'm a fan of u40 cork seal. It keeps filler from coming out. Which makes it look better in the long run ,adds to resale value.
I tend to use rods until they die lol
The Lews Hyper Mag is what I plan on putting on my 1st Extasy.....should look great and the great performance of Lews Reels.

My excitement usually wanes when I see the Post Master bring my rod up and the rod tube is in 2 pieces! Go for an Aldebaren or a Steez A. If your going to be a bear be a Grizzly bear.

Hey there HellaBass, Nice Dobyns arsenal you’ve got there. I’m envious. I have a quick question for you. Why are some of the Dobyns 5 power rods referred to as “Mag Heavy”??? My choice of reel for that new Xtacy, The Daiwa Zillion sv or Zillion HD.
good question, one thing to note, is that there is no standard for rod ratings, Medium, Heavy, all that stuff is not really relative across brands

Man, I love Dobyns but I HATE the closed hook keepers, especially if you're fishing soft plastics.
Hook keepers is such a hot topic and personal preference
@@HellaBass I just don't understand the downside of the hanger style. Any hook can fit under those with no issues. But with the closed style, if you're using it for Texas Rig, you have to pop the hook back out in order to hook it on the keeper. And obviously the more you pop the hook in and out of the plastic, the quicker the bait tears up. If it's purely a cranking stick, then I'm fine putting a closed keeper on there.

I’d go with the Metanium MGL reel. Light and Sensitive bodied reel to go with that sweet rod!

I'd use a Shimano Chronarch MGL 150 reel on that rod ! Very nice rods you have ! Myself i only spend big money on my jigging rods for bass , walleye and reels the rest around 200.per reel , rod or less .
There is definitely a diminishing return on value once you get over about $150 on rods and reels
Not used one myself but how is the Tatula Elite pitching/flipping reel 6.9 oz or maybe a zillion sv tw at 6.7 oz

I would get the new jdm daiwa zillion hd, it’s not on omnia as far as I’m aware but it’s a beautiful heavy duty reel.

Or did Gary give you the hook up? 🤣 you should get that new Bantam... it's stupid smooth... like stupid smooth or if you really want to splurge the Metanium MGL is really nice although the new infinity drive on the Bantam is desirable. Zillion SV TW is pretty sweet too. Might as well make it a high-end to match the rod. 😁

Daiwa Zillion TW HD Casting Reel, but something tells me you’ll go with some Metanium that gives you internal an external brake adjustments.

Good equipment is important. I build my own rods so everything I fish with is top end. Good components are expensive but not $500
Agreed, there is diminishi g returns after about $150-200 bucks on equipment, at that point its more frills then anything

Dobyns rods are all hype ! You want something that equates to the expense get classier built rod . The rod should be sensitive , light , strong as well as have the fit and finish that comes along with a price tag over $500 . Dobyns is far for that pedigree.
