I was just about to comment WHAT NO WILDLIFE ? till the very end an I saw the Big Horn sheep! GREAT hike I dont know how you do it! But love watching you get it done!
Hey Nick! I know it is like almost 2 years since this was posted but I watched it the other day and decided to do it today. I took your same loop, even parked my car in the same spot as yours. ha ha. Great route and enjoyable. Didn't see anyone at any time until getting ready to come down Square top. Video was super helpful! We are still looking at Mummy Mania in early September if interested.
Murray used to have trout the size of footballs. In the spring when they're spawning you can see their bright red sides from the bank. I've never gotten one to take a fly but a worm might work. The lakes below Square Top are much easier fishing. My partner and I camped on that trail going down from Square Top through the woods along the creek. That route is chock full of beaver ponds and wildlife, if that's what you're into.
Do you have a map that I can follow, because I see the to Mt. Wilcox from Murray Lake is not well marked. Also From Mt. Wilcox to Argentine and then to Square-top.
Your channel is solid. I've been enjoying it as I spent the summer unable to run in the afore filmed mountains. Have you considered the traverse from Edwards to Grays/Torreys?
Thanks! I had not previously heard about the traverse over to Edwards, but I just read up on it. Looks awesome! I think it just got added to the list. :)
Instead of dropping down the south side of Square Top and going by the lakes and having to hike the road back, Id suggest going up and hitting Square Top then doubling back and then you can go either up or down back to Murray Lake from the saddle there depending on which way you loop it. Good luck!
Awesome video! I always look forward to getting that Nick Sangetta notification. Are you using the Nikon B700? Time for me to upgrade. I am looking into the Nikon P900...though I read it is very heavy.
Thank you! I have a P900 as well, but I left it out to do star trails one night and it got nailed with the sprinkler. Now the sound is all hosed up. And yes.. it is pretty heavy. Much much larger than the B700. The P900 has a bigger zoom, however unless you have it on a tripod its nearly impossible to hold it steady with your hands. I can barely hand hold the B700 at full zoom so its got plenty. The P900 does better in low light but it only shoots in 1080. The B700 is a little more jerky with its stabilization but has the 4k resolution. All in all for the size, zoom and resolution I like the B700. I took the P900 on only one hike. Taylor Peak. Dang that thing was heavy.. plus just big hanging off the front of me.
@@lyndamarines3656 Since I already had a P900 that pushed me towards buying the smaller B700 because it was in the Coolpix family and took the same batteries. Plus I was somewhat familiar with how it worked. But I like the Nikon Coolpix cams because they are pretty easy point and shoot and not overly complicated. I dont have to worry about switching lenses or anything. Its all in one.
@@nicksangetta8874 Yes...I have a coolpix L320...great little camera...but want to upgrade. I think I will look into the B700 as you mentioned maybe needing a tripod with the P900...nah...dont want more "stuff" to carry around. Again thanks for the info.
@@lyndamarines3656 Aaand here is the kicker on that one. The B700 is now discontinued. I had to search for one and paid 600 this summer. And its red. My first one was only 425 with the bundle. Im hoping they come out with a new version.. heck they may have one out new for Christmas. I havent looked recently.
Totally doable! Nothing too technical at all on this route. It would actually be really cool to do in the winter. Just check to make sure that the Guanella Pass is open. They might shut it down in the winter.. not sure.

That was an epic hike and so much to see! You really put on the miles- I would have to add puffy pants and hand warmers😊 Great video - grand views!!

Brilliant video mate! Loved the views in this... Huge like from me for the filming, editing, and commentary! I've subscribed as well :)
Thanks! I really appreciate the kind words. :)
nice loop trail, a loop is always better than the same way back
Agreed.. but walking that road was loooong. Next time im going back down the Argentine - Square Top saddle and completing the loop that way.

Planning on doing this hike tomorrow but haven’t decided which direction to hike it yet. Will probably do it the same direction as you!

Do you think this is better than doing it from Square top first?
Enjoyed that one, Nick. 3-in-1 is definitely the way to go. What time of year was this climb?
Thanks! Did this on September 12.
Rammies! What a trek dude! Was that the high point of the CDT on Argentine?
Thanks man! That was a fun one. A little cold on Argentine but not bad. I am not sure about the CDT trail. It may go over right there.
