This video is very special to me, this is the very first touhou video I have ever watched and even then I wasn't a fan yet but I remembered this again and became a hardcore fan XD thank you so much for whoever made this! I would have not found touhou

Okay heres a theory of what happened in the video: Mokou was born around sometime from the years between 600-700. She always enjoyed herself in the village until one day Kaguya came into town was confessed to by Mokou's father and 4 other royal families and rejected them all. Mokou decided revenge should be hers and went to the Capital with a katana to murder Kaguya but she had already flown to space. Mokou realized she was lost and wandered off. (Okay I did not understand this part of the video so I will try my best to make out what was happening) Mokou then found this village when then all the people died fighting, where a pot lay. A man took the pot and Mokou followed. He gave Mokou the pot (Hourai Eixlir) and curiosity got the best of her (Notice the shadow behind Mokou in the scene) so Mokou drank it and then realizing it was too much for her, she fainted. She was later discovered and nursed back too health, which she later fell in love with the boy who rescued her but he then died of old age. Thats when the village dispised her for some reason (Possibly for not growing old) and she fled. She spent days by herself growing bigger, stronger, until one day she mustive wandered into Gensokyo without knowing and found the Human Village where Keine greeted her and the two became best friends.
The backstory: Kaguya was born in a royal Lunarian family on the Moon. One day, she asked Eirin to create the Hourai Elixir and she drank it out of curiosity. Her doing was illegal. Because of it, she was banished to the Earth and was discovered by a bamboo cutter (hence the name of her theme and the folklore "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter"). She lived together with the bamboo cutter and his wife happily. As time passes, five men from royal families were attracted by her beauty and came to ask her to marry them, one of the men being Mokou's father. Kaguya told the men that she would marry the man who could brought to her the item that she specified, while knowing that it’s impossible for any human to complete any of her Five Impossible Requests. Mokou's father was asked to bring her a coloured jewel from a dragon's neck (the treasure can be seen carried by Kaguya in Touhou IN). Mokou's father couldn’t find the treasure specified by Kaguya and decided to craft a fake treasure and brought it to Kaguya hoping that she will think it's the real one. But Kaguya exposed him straightaway. Mokou hated Kaguya for making his father feels ashamed. No one could complete the impossible requests. At the same time, the emperor of Japan heard of Kaguya and visited her, he fell in love with her upon seeing Kaguya and asked her to marry him. Kaguya rejected and explained that she can’t marry him because she is from a different country and could not go to the palace with him. The emperor didn’t give up and continue to stay in contact with Kaguya via writing letters. After several years, a group of Lunarians arrived on Earth to bring Kaguya back to the Moon because the Lunarians had forgiven her. However, Kaguya had grown to like living on Earth and found herself struggling to decide whether she wants to return to the Moon. Eirin was one of the Lunarians who came to Earth to bring Kaguya back. All these times while Kaguya was on Earth, Eirin felt sorry for Kaguya because Kaguya was punished while she was not for creating the elixir, she was willing to do anything to seek redemption. So, after learning Kaguya’s struggle, she decided to stay with Kaguya on Earth. She betrayed the other Lunarians who came to Earth and escaped with Kaguya. They escaped to somewhere that would later become part of Gensokyo. Kaguya left a Hourai Elixir and a letter for the emperor before her escape. The elixir and the letter were brought to the emperor. The emperor felt sad for not being able to see Kaguya again and out of depression, he ordered his men to take the letter and the elixir to a place that’s closest to the moon (which was Mt. Fuji) and burn them, hoping that his message can reach the moon with the smoke (hence Mokou’s theme), and because he doesn’t want to live forever knowing that he’ll never be able to see Kaguya again. What everyone didn’t knew was that Kaguya didn’t return to the moon. Instead, she hid from the Lunarians that came to look for her with Eirin on Earth. Mokou was angry at Kaguya for destroying his family. Without knowing what to do to get her revenge on Kaguya, she decided to obtain the elixir since that was the only thing Kaguya had left behind. Mokou secretly followed the emperor’s army who were on their way to the mountain’s summit to carry out their mission. Mokou was discovered by the army but one of the men allowed her to stay with them because he thought that it'd be dangerous for herself to be alone in the mountain. One night, while they were camping near the mountain’s summit. Mokou was awakened by the noise of people fighting. When she went out from her tent, she discovered that the men were fighting and killing each other for the elixir. The man who looked after Mokou during their way to the summit stole the elixir in the chaos and escaped with Mokou. The two of them became the only survivors of the fight. Mokou learned from the man the reason people fought for the elixir, she thought that she could revenge on Kaguya if she had also become immortal. So, she attacked the man who saved her and drank the elixir. Ever since then, she lived an immortal life and she learned that being immortal wasn’t great at all. She waited and waited for the time when human will finally be able to get to the moon. But many years had passed and Mokou had gave up and thought that humans will never be able to get to the moon. She wandered from places to places as people saw her as a monster and she eventually ended up somewhere where was transported into Gensokyo. She was surprised when she saw Kaguya living a secluded life in Eientei in Gensokyo. Before she found Kaguya, Mokou always felt indignant that she couldn’t do anything to get her revenge on Kaguya who she thought was living happily on the Moon while she had to suffer on Earth. She also realizes that Kaguya understands her suffering living an immortal life because she is immortal too. I learned this story from a video on TH-cam that explains the backstory of Touhou IN. Unfortunately, that video is no longer available now. The creator of that video apparently learned the story from the Touhou Silent Sinner in Blue manga. I own some volumes of the manga but I haven't read the manga yet so please correct me if you find any mistakes from what I said above. Note: Mokou's body actually stopped growing after she drank the Hourai Elixir. The video I mentioned above compared Mokou's appearance before and after drinking the elixir. The only things that have changed are her hair and clothes. Also, she learned fire magic by studying it during her free time.

Mokou and Kaguya need each other more than they realize. Since they found each other again in Gensoukyo it gave them both a purpose: KILL, PAIN, etc.
