Thank you for having me on, fellas!! What an honor to become part of 2toRamble’s canon-and thank you Michael and Adrian for (making me think about writing for the first time in so long) the awesome discussion!!
I audibly laughed out loud when I heard "I have this character who's a high school principal who's sexually attracted to balloons..." I am gonna make your book a Christmas present to myself... Did you ever read the John Dies at the End books?
@@qbanboi069 I‘ve read them all, yes, but I did so all in this past year…I had finished LTW before picking up JDATE, which I’m definitely grateful for. They’re similar in a lot of ways-but also very different.
@@k.enterante Awesome! Just the type of humor from your pitch gave me similar vibes. That series was super fun and getting to read them throughout the years has been a great experience. I hope to add all these books to my shelf shortly and say similar good things!
@@qbanboi069 Appreciate it! And Pargin’s next book will continue the John Dies series. Did you read his new one, I’m Starting to Worry About this Black Box of Doom? It’s my favorite book of his by far.
Ooooh this was so fun! I absolutely love Mushroom Blues and I am beyond excited to read the other two books as well, especially after hearing those glorious 1-star reviews. Thanks for shining a light on the wonderful indie community 🥰
Thank you for this discussion, you guys. I am an aspiring traditionally published author but I respect the heck out of self-published authors. These 3 know their stuff and I enjoyed hearing their thoughts.
I love these segments with indie authors, its great exposure to they books and Im genuinely invested in following their social medias, good reads accounts etc. Keep up the great content.
it's important to understand that critics is all about opinions at the end of the day, and it's important to be honest because someone took the time to read your work
A fantastic discussion! It’s really important to remember about actual criticism vs. being nasty. I live by the idea that if someone says you suck or the book sucks and that’s it, well… nothing has been explained, so 🤷🏻♀️ 😂 It’s a bit different if they give an essay, but again, that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s valid too. So, just don’t read reviews if you can’t handle nonsense 😆
I loved this discussion, I've been a bit worried about feedback with my upcoming book so it was helpful to hear how these authors handled other people's perspectives on their books. On a side note, 2ToRamble, have you guys read any books from the Redwall series? If you haven't heard of the series, it's basically "Wind in the Willows" meets "The Lord of the Rings."
So I just watched an old episode of your show and i was so surprised and wanted to say I don’t know what you have been doing but Richard you look like you have lost so weight congratulations. And thank you for all the great content guys
Yes, I definitely pay you to hate you to your face. 😅tbf the best criticism I’ve received is that I’m too short 😂 like yeah, what do you want me to do about that?
Huh? I will tell you how to handle criticism in just a few simple steps. 1. You read a negative review of your book. It feels bad, because you spent months working really hard to make this book as good as it can be. 2. You crawl under your bed and start crying. 3. During the crying session you realize that it's too late for tears. The book is already published and you can't improve it in any way. So you promise yourself that this cruel criticism will be your motivation for the book you are currently working on. You will show them dumb critics how great of a writer you can be! 4. You move from under your bed to your desk to write few more paragraphs of your new book to show them critics. After few hours of staring at your screen and maybe watching TH-cam you realize that you're unable to write anything better than before, because you're not a fucking William Shakespeare. 5. You come to a conclusion that you're not getting anything positive from the reviews so you make yourself a promise that you won't read them anymore. They have no substantive value anyway. 6. The next day you read another negative review of your book...
This was TONS of fun. Huge thank you to Richard and Austin for the invite, and to Adrian and Keith for the great discussion.

I now have 3 (really 5) new books on my TBR!
Good choice to have high quality but also early-career authors to all compare notes. Interesting!

Redwall changed the game for me; I discovered the series when I was 12 and it turned me into a lifelong reader! 🙌🐁⚔️🥘
We havent read them!
I know books and sports communities don't always mix, but while listening to Keith talk, I swore I heard Patrick Mahomes a few times lol
I can hear that now that you mention it!
I get that a lot-also Seth Rogan lol
Happy Friday !!!
Happy Friday!
Criticism isn’t real, I’m amazing
