Legit, one of the ways I found some musical artists I really like was reading Wikipedia articles about songs only to learn they were translated from a different language into English, then I just go and listen to the original artists, it helped expand my music taste out side of the U.S/U.K artists.

I too once looked up with whom my favorite artists are also working together just to find out they produced another style I could not find myself up to. I found like 7 artists and nothing really compares to them even recommendation lists try hard to convince me otherwise. It just doesn't work. Because once I found an artists music or band to cater to my interests, it is also when it exceeds my wants and needs so I can not go for ten different bands literally producing the same or similar music style. But having had dozens of records on the music, given all its sub styles, made me feel tired to listen to.
This actually happened to me. My manager knows all my favorite songs and ive never told him about them. He just plays songs at work and he just happens to play the exact same music I listen to and none of it is exactly popular
I found AOTY the other day and discovered one of the best albums I’ve ever heard by a band called Foxing Shi is pure art like you can sort by the genre and they be HEAT
For me the way I discover new music is I pick a song that I listen to from an artist where they only have 1 popular song. I check out that artist’s other songs cause most of the time, nobody actually listens to the other songs cause that artist is only a one hit wonder. I feel bad for one hit wonders tho cause their other songs are probably even better that their one hit wonder song
For convenience I use music apps. But for learning more I go out to thrift stores. Some of the stuff I love with all my heart isn’t even out there on anything. One artist that has really great playlists is Clairo. I was going through hers and she had Ahmad Jamal trio, standing on the corner, bladee, and a bunch more in their playlists. Those were only the artists I recognized too. Frank ocean also has a cool list of his favorites from awhile ago but its not on Spotify. BTW if you really want to get a little more obscure, especially in hip-hop, just listen to me. I won't tell you how tho. Figure that yourself big dog
a cheat code to finding new music is by listening to bands or music groups and listening to the individual artist from that group's discogs. take Wu Tang for example, i started out with 36 chambers and then went on to listen to ghostface, raekwon, rza, gza etc
ngl i usually add like 3-5 songs to start a playlist then i keep adding what i like from recommended and refresh it about 100 times and wallah theres your playlist exoskeloten you could leave it there or work on it some more with a different step
I honestly don’t know how I found really small and unique music artists cause I started out listening to a lot of mainstream artists and bands before I started listening to vocaloid and finding artists like maretu, guchiry, and parsley onuma. I think most of that led me to listening to more original songs by utaites like luz which introduced me to visual kei music somehow?? I started off listening to really small bands like Amai bouryoku and zombie before getting into more popular bands like mejibray, malice mizer, gulu gulu, dadaroma, and Versailles. I decided that I liked the sound of dadaroma, amai bouryoku and gulu gulu better so I found smaller bands that were in the menhera kei sub genre and that sound similar like jigsaw, lyrica, or lamiya. After that I got into more j-rock and found artists like the oral cigarettes or 9mm parabellum bullet
the only problem ive found with rym is that its hard to find artists on there that i listen too with under 500k listeners when im trying to find similar artists to them
I love finding new stuff through DJ mixes. The Moment YT channel has a large collection of RnB, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, etc... which is a great source for artist discovery (And finding the samples to new songs). Other than that, I also tend to look for 1hr+ playlists of random music, and peruse around the creators that make those songs. There are tons of stuff to look into and get a feel from. I personally browse by genre. Try everything you can find! Here's a couple recommendations from me: DnB (Drum and Bass) Intelligent DnB Breakcore Jungle House Techno Hip-Hop Latin Jazz Jazz Noir Jazz Rap/hip-hop Samba Bossa nova Acoustic folk Salsa classics Reggaetón classics Shoegaze Indie rock Math Rock Alt-Rock Classic Rock Post hardcore Rock Grunge Nu metal And much much more! American mainstream music is mainly Rap/Pop/Rock/Country; European is Pop/Rock/and different sorts of Rave music. Genres we share are reinvented by another, and the ones we don't share make us even more unique, so be sure to browse other countries too!

This actually happened to me. My manager knows all my favorite songs and ive never told him about them. He just plays songs at work and he just happens to play the exact same music I listen to and none of it is exactly popular
I found AOTY the other day and discovered one of the best albums I’ve ever heard by a band called Foxing
Shi is pure art like you can sort by the genre and they be HEAT
For me the way I discover new music is I pick a song that I listen to from an artist where they only have 1 popular song. I check out that artist’s other songs cause most of the time, nobody actually listens to the other songs cause that artist is only a one hit wonder. I feel bad for one hit wonders tho cause their other songs are probably even better that their one hit wonder song
Local music store tossed out Madhouse-Nixon's Ego Trip, and now it's one of my favorites from that era.
why his his voice so nice omg
Seraching playlist from other artists has worked for me.
saying youre a mod of a subreddit is bold i respect it lmao
For convenience I use music apps. But for learning more I go out to thrift stores. Some of the stuff I love with all my heart isn’t even out there on anything. It’s amazing some of the stuff people leave behind that’s why I have cassettes cd’s and records so I have a wider reach to new artists and genres
Everything he listed I lowkey been doing for over a decade. Use every avenue to find new music that resonates with you.
Rate your music is the best, also supporting your local scene
a cheat code to finding new music is by listening to bands or music groups and listening to the individual artist from that group's discogs. take Wu Tang for example, i started out with 36 chambers and then went on to listen to ghostface, raekwon, rza, gza etc
Thank you for all this information
I can listen to this guy talk about anything
be careful what you wish for
Liner notes used to be a big way for me to find new music
you have a good voice. just thought you should know.
Thankful for the algorithm to show me this video (a year late, but still)
ngl i usually add like 3-5 songs to start a playlist then i keep adding what i like from recommended and refresh it about 100 times and wallah theres your playlist exoskeloten you could leave it there or work on it some more with a different step
After that I got into more j-rock and found artists like the oral cigarettes or 9mm parabellum bullet
listen to what you like. listening to something you like with 100M plays should have the same value as a song with 1000 plays you like
gotta check those “artists you might like”, skim those artists and their features. then your recommended songs start getting more obscure
Word up, dude. Love the video.
the only problem ive found with rym is that its hard to find artists on there that i listen too with under 500k listeners when im trying to find similar artists to them
LOVE the Peggy shirt!
Thank you for the info. I find new music by watching the what’s in my bag videos from Amoeba
Here's a couple recommendations from me:
DnB (Drum and Bass)
Intelligent DnB
Breakcore
Jungle
House
Techno
Hip-Hop
Latin Jazz
Jazz Noir
Jazz Rap/hip-hop
Samba
Bossa nova
Acoustic folk
Salsa classics
Reggaetón classics
Shoegaze
Indie rock
Math Rock
Alt-Rock
Classic Rock
Post hardcore Rock
Grunge
Nu metal
And much much more!
American mainstream music is mainly Rap/Pop/Rock/Country; European is Pop/Rock/and different sorts of Rave music. Genres we share are reinvented by another, and the ones we don't share make us even more unique, so be sure to browse other countries too!
whats the song at the start?
Bro your voice 💀🔥
I don't know why you haven't been posting, but this is really nice. Also, in my language your name translates to the female adjective of fast :-)
i love going through movie or show sound tracks!
the discover section of Spotify is really good too
The face: 😊😙🩷🐻
The voice: 🥵😈♥️🫦
Small artist always make the best music , and I'm tired of listening to the same music promoted throught TikTok of Shorts just because its paid to be promoted or made by a popular artist ... And finding smaller Artists becomes very hard and rare .
I listen to alot of melodeath songs. One day the youtube algorithm showed me the album Storm of the Light's Bane by Dissection. The album cover is sick so i clicked on it. Thank you, yt algorithm.
I'm so tired of algorithms... my playlists start to sound the same
The only algorithm that gives me hidden gems is TH-cam Spotify doesn’t
If the producer has shaped the music more than the artist, music has devolved
Very useful tips, thank you man
Thanks bro, cool video
Fire tips! Thank you💯
Interesting topic 🔥🔥🔥
Any other small artists looking at this for ideas on how to get discovered ?
lot of my "discover" songs are artists I've listened to before.
which makes me really disappointed lol
Friends are the best.
@@geuris3222 my friend recommended me atlas i by sleeping at last and have listened to the songs thousands of times so far.
Sometimes when watching a TV series a song might pop out. I will then go do a search on that TV series, and look for the song. Does take time.
like this song, found while watching a Netflix series
Adele H - Gnossienne No. 1 (Erik Satie)
I swear the music you used in the background I've heard in vrchat a ton
I also have a lisp and I’ve never met someone else with a lisp before so I’m glad we’re finally getting some representation
Also the videos cool too
Honestly, I just wanna know the title of the song playing in the background
Thank you, bro
I’m sure it’s been said but the voice caught me WAY off guard. Also, you’re like Ricky Bobby with the hand movements
What’s the Song Name?
