Man goosebumps...vividly remember his 3rd comeback in 2000-2001...what an insane talent and force for the game of hockey

Seeing some of these clips reminds me of when I was a teen in the early 90"s and that feeling of excitement when he actually was healthy enough to play.
There was so many games he missed that when he played you just couldn't wait to see the game.
There was no one smoother or as skilled as Le Magnific..
When he had that fire in his eyes, he was unstoppable.

Health kept Lemieux from breaking every NHL record. He deserved better fate on the ice as he obviously is a great person.

When discussing an all time team, I always say that Mario is my first pick. Simply Magnificent.

Gretzky fans can go cry about it but its pretty clear that lemieux is the most talented player ever.

Aside from a young Jagr, Lemieux didn't have superstars to play with. He carried that team to the two cups!

      Jagr is a timeless gem.

Leewi, I totally agree. lemieux is the greatest forward ever"! gretzky was not only protected by the league. he also was protected by teammates. gretzky was the league golden boy! gretzky was untouchable.

For me he did things no one else could do. Gretzky played chess but Lemieux had all the moves. The goal in Olympics where he lets puck through his legs. Scoring a goal off the face off when he was net he could not do it, he routinely made HHOF players look like Squirt players. He really was Magnificant.

While he didn’t end up being the greatest to ever play the game, nobody has meant more to a team than Mario. Not many athletes can say they’ve saved a franchise, but as you said, Mario saved the Penguins four times. Even in retirement, he’s all us Pittsburgh fans see when we look at that logo.

Lemieux played his 1st NHL scrimmage game in my hometown, Troy, New York. Had a few beers w/Penguins after the game. Mario went to Thornies Diner with his parents because he was too young to go into a bar.

Nobody has done more with more stacked against him in Hockey that Mario with the possible exception of Bobby Orr. It's Mario.

Imagine today you have arguably the best 2 players playing together in Draisaitl and McDavid. Can you imagine if Gretzky and Lemieux had played together!!! They would have won CUP after CUP and would have probably both had 250 pts each.

Don’t include Crosby in the Lemieuex story! Crosby is a classless baby and an insult to the game.
