I used my Hunchback and Catapult this way at close range with LRMs and Lasers for a good while. My damage scores went from around 4-5 hundred average to 800 average and it was so much more exciting. I always run out of ammo but thats when the lasers get to work and add what I call the Bonus round. Everything after LRMs is a bonus to your score. Plus you dont have to worry about lights as much picking you off in the back. I would suggest it for anyone who loves LRMs as I do.

I love these kind of builds, Long Range Skirmish for the first half of game and then just go in and lazor the open torsos :D Also salty Bois in Chat at the end :D
Great video! I'm glad to see you showing that LRMs can be aggressive. I've been having a lot more fun with LRM builds ever since I started using TAGs and looking for my own locks.
Build suggestion Highlander 2c - xl engine - just enough to get 3 internal heat sinks if you can afford it over stock - If you have rooom for heat sinks after weapons, ammo and begal/targetting computer. Do so. You'll probably only have room in laser arm if you have the room. - endo stel - 60 ish kph - no jump jets - Ammo and maybe a heat sink or 2 are better. If your worried about manueverability some eccerleration and hill climb bodes actualy help. - 2 ultra ac 10s or lbxs. Whichever you prefer. Your already getting allot of splash from the ultra 10s but the lbxs do run the mech allot cooler. 2-3 Lrm 15 - depending on if you want artimis and a number of medium lasers. I chain fire as a fire supression intimedation weapons as well as saving on some heat to keep the Ultra 10 Acs fire going. So artemis is not as important but since your medium ranging this mech you are going to have LOS alll so going atrimis might be worth the 2-3 tons. If you are going only 2 lrm 15s the definatly go artemis. - Going with srms or ATMs are options but I prefer Lrms and fighting in the group. Lrms are great if friendlies get in the way and avoid that team damage. - tag - thumb button is fantastic. - Forgot last time but there is room for a few tons of targeting computer or a beagal active prob. - er medium lasers or pulses to your likeing and missle options. I only use these if i'm running cool at the moment or I've opened a mech somewhere and I wabt that extra damage to finish the part off. It runs a little hot with all the lrm and autocannon firing so if you add lasers you are going to need heat sinks. - sacrifice a little armor if you need especially in the legs and head. Everyone shoots for that torso so losing a biit of leg armour has almost never made me regret it. - skill tree as you see fit but I would recomend a couple of accel nodes or even a hill climb node if you wish. I just get a couple of accleration nodes instead of fill the armor tree full. It reall helps to get the bulk moving and climbing hills. More than hill climb IMO.
I run a Stormcrow-D with Tag laser head (due to omnipod), 2 LRM-15s, and a bunch of streak SRMs. Mobile LRM mechs like this are a great fire support platform, and require a great balance of aggression and defense to play, makes them a ton of fun to play!
Great video! There is always one or two players that want to claim cheating when the game goes south. I had a teammate yelling the whole game because he had no locks for his LRM boat. Hey, whatever your name is, move out from your hidey-hole and get your own locks like Baradul!
i think most people underestimate the tag with normal lrms, it is about as good as artemis and much less weight, also i still think this build is better for a artic wolf though just because getting locks on maps with hills isnt that great just because the cockpit is so low on that mech, also the artic wolf has ecm :)
I think that post-missile changes, all Tag does is grant LOS bonuses to teammates and counter ECM. It's really limited. CAP/BAP seems slightly more useful, because although it doesn't grant LOS to friendlies, it extends sensor range and counters one ECM, while speeding up targeting info. Honestly, I wonder if Baradul is aware of the big changes to TAG, and if the changes alter his utilization of it. I stopped carrying it in favor of just CAP/BAP, but may add it back for the game score alone.
I have to say you contributed to your teams defeat by quite a margin in the second game, switching targets too often towards the end instead of staying on one and and either taking him out or at least side-stripping them... taking one mech out is ten times more valuable than softening many...
600 damage in that first game after dumping salvos into an AMS screen is nuts. Without that Corsair it would have been 7-800. Let that be a lesson in how important AMS boating can be.
@ Baradul: Great video! Is there a reason you don't go w/ 3x lrm10 +artemis? You use the lrms at mid range, often w line of sight & TAG. Also, you could alpha w/o ghost heat, which would help w enemy AMS. Just curious.
Generally, Artemis isn't worth it if you can just fit more missiles instead. If you're at the upper limit for the total number of tubes you can carry and you still have enough weight left over, then you can get away with Artemis, but not before.
Wow, second game matchmaker just gave up. That was what 800 ton enemy vs 600 your team? Not sure that kind of difference is possible to overcome in capture mode?
walks through the open and calls LRM boats cheaters. Luck someone did not have a bunch of LRM 5s When ATMs came out, there was this grin on my face. Higher damage for a LRM boater that plays close. NOt a good pairing for the other side
Hey frend! Y never try the best crow config: (1x)CLPL + (6x)ERML. I say this becouse the Crow ia a midrange/hit and hide mech for Nature... (I think). This config have Nice damage in midrange dude!!! Way you no try after? Tnx! (Aka, BRURAL FURY, here).
@@jarenblenart8685 Right. I didn't realize there were actually three types of actuators in the arms - upper, lower and hand. I just remembered that you need one to move up and down and a second one to move left and right.
Baradul, my friend, the Clan Active Probes (light or not) no longer counter ECM. They're still fantastic for targeting purposes, but they can't just act as ECCM anymore.
So much salt; I hate LRM boats myself, but only the Assault variants. And that's less about cheating and more about wasting +80 tons of mech to do a 70 ton mech's job. What a child.
Meh, not for any reasons about hating Lrm's, although I do. Just not enough to call them cheating but I have to say I find this type of play boring to watch. I prefer when you're in the thick of the fight and having crazy games. Although I'd imagine there are days when your nervous system just wants to chill out a bit and lurm :D I've also mentioned that I don't mind you taking a mid-game break during those crazy games to assess the situation and not be so aggressive. So I guess what I'm really saying is, somewhere along the line of this modern world I've developed a feminist attitude P Hypocritical! (I'm joking take it easy). Thanks for the videos Bara ;D
It’s nice to encourage close range agressive LRM !
I'd have to block that guy, good lord, that was some whining.
"LrMs = ChEaTs"
Oof this person has no chill
More stormcrow gameplay!
And that guy in the chat made me chuckle 😂✌️
the lrm hate goes way back to the beginning and it always makes me chuckle when someone complains about lrms but atms are fine
Tbh I think Lrms are basically just ATMs just with more options and less tons

Less than 120 damage in that build? The problem is the pilot, not "hacks".

Since the missile changes tag does not improve lock on time.
I love watching chat from children who are learning the game. They think everything is cheating lol

Someone needs to introduce the guy who says LRMs are cheats to the good thing that is a friendly Corsair 7A or a Kit Fox.

It's a special kind of salt that whines about cheating even when winning.
With the new points system his team wins but he get negative points.
Why not drop the 2 DSHS and add Artemis and a half ton of ammo? Also, go finish out the sensor tree and use any remaining on the armor tree.

Why no hand actuators?
because they give you a bigger hitbox and nothing else.
