It’s really infuriating as a woman to know that there are countries around the world where there are higher and more severe punishments for self drug use than SA crimes against others. It makes no sense in this day and age

It just seems like a way to what my father called "trim the herd" of a weak link such as someone who is struggling with their own life. Like a way to kick others when they're down. I think humanity has a base level to it that likes to do this and who easier than drug addicted individuals who are hanging onto life by a thread already, mentally and physically.

@@Janellabelle people smoking weed aren't hanging onto life by a thread, so that doesn't even really apply. Stuff like this just shows that women are not valued or treated as human so often. Even in places where SA has a higher sentence it's very common for women to not be believed and can be hard for someone to get convicted. Then even when they are convicted you so often see women getting hate and harassment for speaking up at all.

One of the reasons why Taxi Driver is one of my favorite Kdramas is because of the exposure they managed to bring out surrounding all these cases. It's so easy for everything to get swept under the rug, but this show made sure to highlight the cruelty, ignorance, and hate that many of these victims faced, while still bringing awareness and respect. Korean culture sounds like bullying is a past time. Children bully each other in ways I didn't think a child would be capable of. I heard of the after work socializing with employers from white people who have been to South Korea but I assumed they were exaggerating or misunderstanding a foreign culture. We had some Malaysian bosses deported for disrespecting their employees and I thought they treated their workers badly because they're racist but now I'm beginning to think its more cultural.

Just want to correct Taxi Driver's synopsis, more than a vigilante group, they're a group that acts as a "rainbow" when all hope is lost. The taxi logo is basically a rainbow and they would only leave their "stickers/calling card" in places where people are likely to commit suicide because of hopelessness. Their revenge is also quite personal, they will act based on clients' wants, giving social justice was only incidental, their main goal is to give back what the client has lost.

As a victim of revenge porn, I am so appreciative of your anger regarding the harm caused by this group, Stephanie. The fact that the subjects of these videos (in large part women) are treated as fodder for profit and attention is truly deplorable and as much as I sympathize with the workers in this abusive environment, I think anyone who is aware of what kind of harm this causes to the victims should be shaken to the core that this is even going on. So glad this sad of excuse of a man was convicted but his pitiful sentence is aggravating to say the least. I hope more people who hear about instances like this realize what an absolute violation of people’s humanity this is. Revenge porn is far from a victimless crime and people who think that this is anything less than a deplorable act need to seriously assess their morals. The shaming of women doesn't just stop at adult activities filmed without their consent. Do you watch other true crimes? Watch how a male narrator frames a male killer; how he was so promising or good looking. How people around him thought he was this or that. Maybe it goes back into his past accomplishments too. Those same narrators when talking about a woman who committed crimes against a man? "She was evil. Nobody knew that a vicious stranger lurked behind that facade" and her past? here's all the bad things she ever did. Her failures. Speculation about her relationships.

@@saphiregood2550 i have... especially when it comes to killers like ted bundy, the narration always, always ensures to mention how attractive he was & how much ''potential'' he had. there's also endless articles written about ''the hottest serial killers'' or whatever, that are always about men, with lovely phrases like "wish he'd slash me open" next to a picture of the most average, or below-average, looking guy you ever did see.
i do think this issue is more common in mainstream media though, like traditional news outlets & licensed documentaries. i personally haven't noticed youtubers falling into this same pattern, but could be true as i don't know or watch every single true crime youtuber.
i think it's also notable that men are the only criminals i ever hear of amassing fan bases, like hoards of women writing to murderers & r*pists in prison, confessing their love to them, even marrying them. this just does not happen with women criminals the same way at all. i think it all ties into the ''i can fix him''/''he did a bad thing, but he's not a bad person'' narrative spun around men's crimes vs. the ''she's a psycho'' narrative that is often attached to women.

There were episodes where the cases are VERY similar to actual controversial cases that I'm high key concerned about the safety of the writer. Season 2 has an ep that reminds me so much of the Burning Sun scandal. But then again every episode starts with the disclaimer "This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, business, events and incidents that has a resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental." i guess that's the safety net.

I'm talking China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, India; they all had the "fight each other and win" in their business culture. No country, other than China and Singapore allowed women to come on business trips to the US. Women from China were seen but never heard, they barely spoke when spoken to. Women from Singapore were in higher positions and could freely conduct themselves with colleagues from all over the world. Singapore business culture was much more civil and Western than the other countries from Asia.

This reinforced my decision not to work in South Korea (with all respect, but I have heard other horror stories and this one had gone right to the top of the list). After I finished my TEFL training in Australia, I was initially looking at English teaching jobs in South Korea ( without knowing anything about Korean culture, history or society at the time - this is back in 2018!) After reviewing other jobs in China and Japan, I then accepted an English teaching job in Osaka ( and where I stumbled upon Kdramas on Netflix including 'Taxi Driver' that I continue to binge watch to this very day in 2023), however I was only there for 6 months.
I'm not going to bash or compare different countries in East Asia, but I did struggle with working/teaching in Japan - not many days off, no annual leave for the 1st 6 months of the contract... like wt...? and my salary earnings were inconsistent. So one month, I'd get the equivalent of $1000 and the following month it could decrease to $700/$800 ( which is already very low and not a practical way to earn money in order to save up with the aim of wanting to explore the country!) However, it wasn't outrageous, but not a very flexible way to live. On the positive note, I did meet a lot of good people and a really kind Japanese colleague went out of her way and took me to Kyoto/Arashiyama for the day!
Coming back to this video, I hope all the employees who were abused and traumatised by this vile, demonic CEO, get the justice and closure they deserve. As for the evil CEO, I wonder what he would do if he got a taste of the same vile, abusive 'treatment' that he inflicted on others...??? I'm all for getting justice from the police and legal court systems, but when those same systems repeatedly fail and dismiss the ordinary, the vulnerable and the weak, I guess it only makes sense to resort to the services from a 'taxi driver' 😔🤔

Where? Where else? When was the last time you saw media coverage of upskirting or the widespread hiding of cameras in hotels and public bathrooms in any other part of the world? When have you heard that visitors to South, North America, Europe and Africa have to check for hidden cameras in the lotion or showers in their hotel rooms? The randomising of the behaviour is part of why the problem has not been dealt with at the root. Why are women seen and treated like animals in these countries? What is the culture that everyone knows you willing work in a company such as We Disk and yet, you are not ostracised?
There is a problem in the culture. The same type of cavalier attitude to human suffering that contributed to the ferry disaster.
Waving it away with 'this happens everywhere' is just irresponsible.
Okay then, where else does it happen?

I might be wrong for thinking this way, but there has to be a limit on wealth. These people have so much money, the ability to do all the things they desire. And it’s as if none of that is fun anymore, they’ll do unspeakable things to achieve any kind of pleasure. It’s disgusting.

The first case in Taxi Driver 2 is similar to a case that is going on with tourists or job seekers who applied online and was promised jobs in Thailand but then they were held and forced to go work as online scammers in Myanmar. They were being tortured whenever they refused to do whatever they are told to do so.

First of all, I LOVE your channel!!! You have a gift!!! This CEO is a real trip. I remember a friend of mine having a revenge video problem because of her ex and she paid for it dearly then she moved here to get away. Sad. I’m glad to see people standing up to the problem and hope they continue to call for change.
Third, I love the Taxidriver series!!!! We need hero’s like them!!! The best!!! Season 3🎉 can’t wait!!!

The part about burying dolls with fingernail clipping is not Shamanism. Thats black magic. And any Shamans who do black magic often always will recieve a consequence or punishment in their life.

This reminds me of a similar story (the first one) in Chile. Some high up people bullied his employee, it was insane, just horrible.
I hope one day you can make more stories from latino countries, I just love your videos so much!!!

Thank goodness I have had a full working career in the UK. The BBC recently did a documentary with Stacy Dooley as presenter and that covered Molka in Sth Korea and the lives that were ruined by it. Young women committing suicide by the revenge and hidden cameras. In one scene they went into a respected well known hotel and scanned the room for hidden cameras, they found over 30!!! Sth Korea is such a new country with outdated ideals of what a woman is! How hard it is for a woman to get justice when it comes to any form of sexual exploitation. I appreciate that this is a global crime. In Asia I do believe that it's worse sorry, "Evil prevails when good men do nothing". I now of the case which was in the UK and her boyfriend went to prison. Oh he was cocky but now is eating porridge for breakfast. She decided to name and shame him, very brave and she was very well supported. No he was not supported in fact he is loathed. He has a small fan club but nothing else.

Like the working life in South Korea sounds like a nightmare, jeez 😢 you have to respect your seniors and ignore their misbehaving/harassment/assault because otherwise they’ll fire you and your life is ruined, but if you stay in a company like that your life is miserable and therefore, also ruined, like wtf

I don't think I could put up with SK work culture. Unpaid work dinners are hell on earth and there's no way I'm participating in them that often without becoming unhinged. And harassment, stalking, animal abuse, assault? No thank you.

I watched taxi driver from season one and this particular case shocked me, I had encounter with narcissistic boss but not as narcissist as this boss (at least that old boss of mine only demanding praise from the employees and not beating up any of us the employees). the 2nd season's story is kind of more or less the case that Stephanie covered two weeks ago, about this secret billionaire who run a cult where criminals and corruptors politicians and businessmen were his member. and in the story, one of the cult members is the owner of a big artist agency and another one is the owner of a big club the Black Sun. and this case is eerily similar to the burning sun scandal (even the singer's name in those episodes is Victor which translated as Seungrija in Korean). the Kdrama Taxi driver is confirmed to have a 3rd season soon.

I’m sure some stayed willingly bc of the amount of money BUT I have a feeling that quitting wasn’t an option. Even trying to report anything anonymously would be frightening. They’d be aware that so many people were already being paid and those that weren’t on the “payroll” were likely willing to be. Also, he was clearly able to find people that posted anonymously so even leaking info to the public wasn’t something someone could do.

I literally just finished taxi driver and this story was one of the most messed up stories there, to think that it was even based on a true story was really shocking. And true, while I was watching the kdrama, these people with weird colored hairs knowing it was in an office setting was so off to me. So sad to think that most of the stories there were based on a true story 🤧
