      For real. I was playing this in my car with a friend of mine in the passenger seat. He couldn’t believe it when I told him they’re a three piece. Lol I don’t know of any musician that has a better understanding of how to use effects such as delays and loopers than Jeff Boyle. Maybe the guys from Mogwai. Jeff times his echo patterns in ways that they weave in and out of each other. It’s just fucking amazing. He’s the only person I know of that can do it this way.

      'Sounds like they're using a lot of electronics (samplers, repeaters,pedal effects, etc.) to produce a really deep, layered sound. A lot of good mainstream bands have been 3-way ensembles: Rush, ZZ Top, for example, so it's not unusual.

    • @sethdrouin3871
      @sethdrouin3871 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@timf3099 Yeah, you've missed the point. Not debating there's a lot of good mainstream bands that are three pieces; certainly there are. My comment was about the ability of a three piece instrumental band to conjure mental imagery of a titanic scope. ZZ Top, to my knowledge, doesn't have any instrumentals, and Rush only has a few. La Villa Strangiato is perhaps in a similar category as Jakob's music in it's ability to invoke imagery in the mind, but other than that, I can't imagine how either of those bands are comparable to Jakob's sound, other than "they're a three piece."

Just virtuoso playing would put them in a huge crowd with jazz pickers, prog wankers, etc. This song sounds better every time I listen to it. Such a big sound from 3 guys. Love their style, still waiting for them to play in Australia.

    You guys are pretty damn awesome.
    Along with "Animals as Leaders" and "Battles" you're creating the best music for me to cover long distances on a motorcycle alone in any weather, at night, in heavy traffic. Makes concentrating on driving way easier just through the simple idea that somebody can play so well and create tactile space with music alone.
    Best regards, hope you continue with your work!

      Not sure if you'll see this since your original post was a couple years ago, but if you like those bands. Also check out: Russian Circles, Red Sparrowes, Collapse Under the Empire, Daturah, and Three Trapped Tigers. All great instrumental bands. CHEERS !

    Беларусь. обожаю вашу музыку с 2010 года.. это больше, чем музыка. У каждой музыки и музыкальной группы своя сила, у вас же сила времени - такая ассоциация. Очень хотелось бы видеть вас с концертом в Минске!!

    I am almost shaking in excitement for the new album. I hope it's not too long before you make your way over to the US for a tour. A Boston show would make me a very very happy man.
