Congratulations, beautiful Whitetail, appreciate the effort, absolutely beautiful country upstate NY, i hunt in the baby hills , a little south of you.
Jon, Thats a great ADK buck! Well done! He looks like he has 140+ plus inches of rack although I don't think that is as important his life and his blessing you with a great shot opportunity! He is a beautiful buck! I am sure you gave thanks for his life. I had a good season myself here in NYS, a 214# (archery. heaviest buck of my hunting career) buck amd 185# (MZ season ths weekend) buck. The tape of these two great hunts just keep rerunning in my head, sometimes making making it hard to sleep! The big 214 buck was an old 8 pointer and the 185# buck ws a 9 pointer with split brow tines ( a lot of guys would call he him a 11 pointer). Like you, I have been blessed. Keep up the good work and thanks so much for sharing! Your brother in the hunt, God blress you always Jon! - Ray.
Thanks Ray I appreciate it! You’re correct, his gross/green score is 149 5/8”, Ray that is an impressive NYS season you had!!!! I agree we were both blessed this year with great hunts and rewarded for it nicely, good luck next season, and thanks again for watching!!!
Hey,from the southern Adirondacks,I know what you go through hunting up here, second week of November I dropped a nice 8 point, also that week I passed 2 rack bucks and it made my day. Congrats on that slammer.
I love this channel and this great contribution to it. Im curious about the drone footage at the end, its a very nice touch. Loved the video, had me in suspense.
Notification on! Today was the last day of archery/crossbow season here in NH. First year is about 25 years that I didn’t get a deer. Usually get two between muzzle, rifle and Xbow ( messed up my shoulder about 10 years ago and can’t pull a bow anymore )
@@Jon-Hill-ADKHTRthanks Jon. Congratulations on a magnificent buck. Ya, broke my ankle hunting last year the day after taking my second of the year. Had to have a plate and screws put in and had ligament damage as well. Still giving me problems and walking on uneven ground in the woods aggravates it and it hurts for days so not much moving around hunting and a lot of short walks and sitting. Should be back on the track next Sept here in SE NH. Beautiful boat you have there.
Those seasons are rough. I only got a small doe this year myself. Saw plenty of good bucks but no opportunities at them. Lots of good info for next year, though. Hang in there and go get em next year!
Awesome ADK buck! Congrats. I hunt almost exclusively in the Adirondacks alone and tagged a real nice 8pt on bare ground this year. Nothing like this one though. Never seen a buck from the Park with brow tines that long. Excited for you. Already can’t wait for next season.
Tracking 200 is a series I started in 2019 about the effort it takes to track down a 200lb buck and has since become an ethos for mountain hunting enthusiasts
Absolutely! My solo canoe in the beginning of the video is a 15’ Kevlar “Merlin 2” model made by Bell canoe company, they are now called Northstar Canoe company instead, and the new model that has replaced the “Merlin 2” is now called the “Northwind Solo”. The boat you’re probably asking about is a 15’ kevlar Adirondack Guide Boat, it’s a beast of a boat and the one I always use for big loads, rough water, or just plain going fast, with the oars it just flys, it’s made by Adirondack Guide Boat in Vermont, super great people to deal with, they have a good website that breaks down all the specs and different models well, or give them a call, the owners love to talk boats, and keep track of their website they often have sales on discounted or left over boats! Thanks for watching!
There’s 2 different boats being used in this video, one is a solo canoe designed to be paddled, the other is my Adirondack guide boat which is designed to be rowed with oars versus paddled, guide boats are bigger, carry more gear, and faster when rowed in my opinion than a paddling a traditional canoe.
That is a lefty Forbes Rifle model 20B in 7/08, they’re getting tough to find as they’ve been out of business for a while, but it’s a shooter! Thanks for watching!
wowwwww !!!! Amazing trophy !!! Congratulations Jon !!! l have never hunted in the Adirondacks but if you could tell me where you hunt there l will be there next season! l bet it was near the Lost River. HaHaHa
What a giant congratulations been hunting out of a tent in the adk for 30 years with my dad and uncles nothing like it what kind of camo coat are you wearing in the video
Thanks! You’re right there is nothing like it, and I wouldn’t have it any other way, I wish I was in a tent right now listening to the wood stove pop and crack! That is a King of the Mountain wool Bushman shirt that is more like a jacket than shirt.. it’s pricey but a real good piece that won’t disappoint!
He grossed 149 5/8”, his inside spread was only 16 4/8”, but he has crazy long tines that helped get the score up to what it is, both his brow tines are just over 6” long!
It was quite the standoff that 45 minutes, I heard him take about 5 or 6 steps when I first started recording, then pure silence, but I knew he was down in that swamp still locked on to my location because I never heard him walk off, and it was very quiet that day, and the leaves were so noisy, I was confident he was still there and waiting me out, so yes about every 10-15 minutes or so I would let one soft grunt out, and finally, after about 45 minutes of this I heard him take a couple steps so I hit record again, and that time he had enough and was trying to circle down wind of me to figure out what I was and he slipped up and went broadside right in front of me, about 75 yards.
True giant ! Congrats.
Beautiful videography too.
