I've been looking for a replacement for Aperture 3 tried Lightroom up to version 4 stuck with it until compatibility problems with new version of mac OS. Then the search started again used Exposure 5/6 but did find they did awful conversion of panasonic G6 raw(yeah i know its old but i like old cameras. XT1 my newest camera) then a GFX driver update in mac OS made it impossible to use the GPU acceleration, which was of the benefits of version 6. was thinking up getting Version 7 but i have a PC as well Exposure licence limits you to the use on just one computer.
So as of now i have my photos on 2 external drives and its abit all over the place. Use my PC with silkypix awful user interface slow and clunky but my PC spec help it to be alot less slow and clunky, oh and Silkypix doesn't like DNG.
But suppose mainly use Photos to catalog don't use it to print though, for me it always prints using a low res pixelated version of my photo if printer direct from Photos. Prints okay if export the photo to HD then print using Preview program. Maybe my old printer? Although have read that apple have dumbed down there printer drivers
Once upon a time Apple mac OS just worked great, didn't need to buy and 3rd party program iPhotos was okay and there was always Aperture and you could print books from them. But that was before the IOSification of mac os.
That go me think ... again .. When was Apple's Aperture working great? Why not roll my imac back to that version so thats what ive done, got a SSD with mac OS 10.13.6 and installed Aperture 3. Apple don't make it easy and hide the download pages for the old version. TLDR I got Aperture up and running on old version of mac OS which i will use for printing.

Thanks for engaging and commenting, its certainly not easy to find something that works well with all your camera files these days. For now I'm sticking with Ligthroom with other programs as needed.

I was in the same boat. I've found Luminar 4 (but not Luminar AI) to be the closest I've come to Aperture. It's where I've landed after much trial and error. Man I really miss Aperture.
