- At over 900 pounds, the Timber Carry separates the Strongmen and Strongmen who have tremendous grip strength. It is also an event that highlihts strength and speed with a load.
No straps are allowed on the Timber Carry at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic.
The test is to get up the ramp with the timber frame faster than anyone else. It is inevitable that some will not make it to the end so in those cases a distance will be used to calculate points for the round.
I like how the man on 15:32 tried moving the 900+ lbs timber with his knee.
He's actually able to move it but then remembered that he can't reveal his superpowers in front of that many people so he stopped.

Props to the Arnold for ditching straps on this. The weight may be less, but the show of strength is so much more impressive.
Notice how long Brian Shaw takes to prepare, while Jerry Pritchett just goes straight at it. I'm not critiquing Shaw, though, just sharing an observation.
Mark Henry can’t even pronounce the competitor’s names properly. Surely he could have found out how to do that before the event.

Shivlakov seems like such a nice guy. Allways smiling and just happy to be there. Gives his best if he gets the weight up hes ecstatic if he cant hes happy he tried. Best luck to him and all the competitors. Moving weight I dream I one day can.

dimator is my least favourite strong man, no matter what event he does it looks like he will pass out from exhaustion like come on i know its hard but you're meant to be and athlete, That's not even mentioning his weird head and over sized gut and sweating like hes had showered even before he has even started the event.

I loved this event. Used to be one of my favorites. Still loved it after they started using the straps, but without the straps is even better. Got to have a test of hand strength in a strongman contest. Great to see this go strap free again. Really good call. Keep this event strap free.

It was a Stupid decision not to use straps.
We wanted to see the overall strength of the athletes, not the grip strength.
Not only did the commentators not know how to say the athletes names they also know nothing about them except their deadlift
Mateusz kieliszkowski has a weak grip and mark Henry said his grip is usually very strong

i would expect better safety measures coming from the arnold classic. most these events are cobbled together and poorly planned. judges in the line of fire, evens that set contestants up for failure, no safeguards, rules that change mid-event. Just hire someone who know what they are doing and do something new.
